Chapter 110

Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Nathan, Who Are You Calling Sister-in-Law?
"President Hale, Tina!"
Joy’s voice came from afar, Claire Hale looked over and saw her holding Jude Jacob’s arm, while Jude’s eyes appeared more profound than before.
Joy let go of Jude’s arm, walked towards them, ready to say goodbye to Jude.
But Jude spoke first, saying, "Let’s have dinner together."
Joy was taken aback and instinctively looked at Claire Hale and Tina Hayes, seeking their opinion.
Tina shrugged, she didn’t really mind, after all, it was just running into Nathan Quinn and the others, she wasn’t embarrassed.
Just didn’t know if Claire Hale was willing, after all, dining with Jude and them also meant Tristan Lockwood might be there too.
Claire Hale glanced at Jude, thought for a moment, and said, "Okay."
Tina and Joy were quite surprised that Claire Hale agreed, but seeing her thoughtful expression, it seemed she had some intention, so they didn’t ask further.
When the four walked to the restaurant, Claire Hale suddenly said casually, "Jude, I heard you’re quite valued by Director Jared Jennings at Jennings Tech."
Jude paused, turned his head to look at Claire Hale, and said casually, "Not exactly valued, just involved in a few key projects of The Jennings Group."
"Really?" Claire Hale smiled lightly, "Director Jennings even introduced his cousin to you, isn’t that considered being valued? Getting some connection with the Jennings Family is something many dream of, and the opportunity was handed to you, yet you didn’t take it?"
Jude’s face changed slightly.
Next to him, Joy noticed Jude’s change and also stared at him, waiting for him to speak.
"Not everyone chooses interests over feelings."
Jude adjusted his glasses, looked at Claire Hale, expressionless.
"Lawyer Hale, I know you are someone who prioritizes interests, but that doesn’t mean everyone is."
His words were quite aggressive.
Joy reproachfully tugged at Jude’s sleeve, "What are you talking about?"
"It’s alright, Joy." Claire Hale reassured her, her gaze moving away from Jude, seemingly unintentionally saying, "Since Jude said so, he surely will act accordingly; otherwise, liars will receive divine punishment, won’t die well."
Jude looked at her coldly.
Claire Hale curved her lips without a hint of a smile.
The hotel restaurant was self-service, Claire Hale took some food, and when she returned to her seat alone, Nathan Quinn and his group were walking towards their table.
Behind him were Jenson Jennings, Nathan Quinn, Zoey Adler, and... Tristan Lockwood, whose arm was being held by Zoey.
Seeing Claire Hale, Nathan Quinn instinctively blurted out, "Sister-in-law, you..."
He hadn’t finished speaking before Claire Hale’s cold gaze stopped him.
Nathan Quinn immediately shut his mouth.
However, Zoey Adler next to him heard those two words and blinked, asking, "Nathan, who are you calling sister-in-law?"
Nathan Quinn was startled, not knowing how to answer for a moment.
To tell the truth, calling Claire Hale sister-in-law wasn’t appropriate since she and Tristan Lockwood were divorced, and besides, Zoey was glaring at him intently, he dared not speak the truth.
But to call Zoey sister-in-law, Nathan Quinn really couldn’t say it.
He glanced at Tristan Lockwood standing aside, forced a smile, and said, "Whoever old Tristan says it is, it is!"
Tristan Lockwood glanced at him.
Nathan Quinn pretended not to see it and dashed off to the self-service area to get food.
Zoey Adler softened her voice and coquettishly said to Tristan Lockwood, "Tristan, are you planning to surprise me with something? Otherwise, why would Nathan call me sister-in-law?"
Saying this, her gaze subtly fell on Claire Hale and the others.
She wasn’t stupid.
Nathan Quinn’s "sister-in-law" definitely wasn’t meant for her.
If it truly was for her, it would’ve been said earlier, rather than at such a sudden moment.
Moreover, she and Tristan Lockwood now, despite being surrounded by rumors, had no further intentions from Tristan Lockwood towards her, it would be impossible for him to indulge in his brother’s mischief.
Most importantly, Nathan Quinn’s "sister-in-law" was blurted out naturally, without any thought.
If it wasn’t a habit, he wouldn’t say it so naturally.
Zoey’s gaze lingered on Claire Hale for several more seconds.
She unconsciously tightened her grip on Tristan Lockwood’s hand.
She felt that Claire Hale was definitely not simple, not knowing why, every time she saw this woman, she felt an inexplicable sense of crisis.
"What surprise do you want?"
Suddenly, Tristan Lockwood’s voice sounded in her ear.
She looked up, meeting his dark pupils, seemingly seriously asking her opinion.
She was somewhat surprised, asking with delight, "Whatever I want, you’ll give?"
Tristan Lockwood gentlemanly pulled out a chair for her, and after she sat down, he sat next to her, with a faint smile, saying, "What’s there that can’t be given?"
Zoey Adler was overjoyed, ambiguously leaned close to him, saying very close, "Then I’ll..."
"Ahem."
Jenson Jennings suddenly coughed twice, interrupting Zoey, saying, "You two, pay attention to the occasion."
Tristan Lockwood paused, distanced himself from Zoey.
The aloof gaze subtly fell across the table, on Claire Hale who was eating.
She lowered her eyes, chewing the food seriously and slowly, without any ripples on her face, as if she hadn’t heard their conversation.
Tristan Lockwood’s face darkened.
Zoey noticed that the aura exuding from Tristan Lockwood inexplicably became distant and cold again, she frowned, and glanced at the indifferent Claire Hale.
Her intuition told her, it was this woman, affecting Tristan Lockwood’s mood.
"Is Miss Hale a friend of Tristan’s?" Zoey turned her fork and knife, seemingly casually saying, "Last time in the hospital, you two seemed quite familiar."
Claire Hale had almost finished, put down her chopsticks, saying, "Since it was the hospital, naturally to see Dr. Lockwood, nothing about familiarity."
She looked at Zoey, but her peripheral vision inevitably swept to Tristan Lockwood’s expression.
His face remained cold, showing no emotion.
Zoey, however, didn’t relent easily, immediately asking, "You seem quite familiar with Jenson and Nathan Quinn too, just being a patient shouldn’t make you familiar with Tristan’s friends, right?"
Claire Hale paused, seemingly considering how to respond.
Jenson Jennings intervened at this time, saying, "Claire grew up with the Lockwood Family, she’s practically Tristan’s sister. Isn’t she, Tristan?"
Claire Hale didn’t refute hearing this.
Tristan Lockwood’s eyes grew even darker.
He stared at Claire Hale for a few seconds, seeing no sign of her wanting to connect with him, suddenly stood up and said, "I’m going to rest."
Zoey saw him walk away without turning back, and had no appetite to continue eating, but before chasing after him, she couldn’t help but take another look at Claire Hale.
