Chapter 121: Chapter 121: I Really Do Love You
Dylan successfully got an indirect kiss, his eyes curved like a sly fox, and said, "Sis invited me out today, is there something you want to ask?"
Claire Hale calmed down when it came to the main topic, "Last time you mentioned to me about Jude Jacobs booking a hotel room with someone, is this gossip reliable?"
"Reliable, of course, it’s reliable. Now Jared Jennings values him more and more, how could there be no development."
Dylan spoke firmly, seeing Claire Hale frown, made him suddenly feel a sense of crisis, and couldn’t help but say:
"Sis seems a bit too concerned about Jude Jacobs."
Claire Hale was worried about Jude Jacobs and Joy Sharp, and didn’t notice the jealousy in Dylan’s tone.
She instinctively nodded.
Dylan’s jealousy couldn’t be restrained anymore.
He quickly pulled Claire Hale and ran to the Ferris wheel line.
There were quite a few people in line, Claire Hale was pushed back a bit, and Dylan quickly held her waist.
When their skin touched, both of them froze.
Though somewhat reluctant, Dylan quickly let go of her waist, just to protect her, he moved closer to her.
Claire Hale’s back was against Dylan’s chest.
Tristan Lockwood saw Dylan hugging Claire Hale from behind from a distance.
"Seems like Miss Hale really isn’t short of handsome guys around," Zoey Adler said on the side, "This young, sunny guy might be quite suitable for her."
Tristan Lockwood gave her a cold glance but didn’t say anything.
Zoey couldn’t help but recall the scene she saw earlier and continued to fuel the fire: "They also had an indirect kiss, didn’t they? Miss Hale’s face was a bit red, quite sweet."
Tristan Lockwood’s expression became colder.
However, he still didn’t respond to her, instead, he started walking towards the special path.
Zoey followed and deliberately asked, "Didn’t you say a Ferris wheel is too childish, that you wouldn’t want to ride it?"
As soon as he saw that person, he couldn’t wait.
There were also several people lined up on the special path, Tristan Lockwood glanced at Claire Hale’s progress, communicated with the people in front, transferred some money, and managed to line up at the same time as Claire Hale.
He didn’t even give her time to react, he directly pulled her up.
The doors closed.
He pulled her down, her body half-fell onto the seat, his one hand supporting her, her lips were kissed.
This kiss was skilful, carrying his usual teasing, yet vaguely emitted a dissatisfaction resembling punishment.
Claire Hale glanced outside the cabin, catching sight of Dylan and Zoey, both of their faces were unpleasant.
She retaliated by biting his lower lip hard.
Tristan Lockwood frowned and released her, fresh blood bright on his mouth.
His eyes still held an unsubsided desire.
She pushed his hand away, sat on the opposite seat, and frowned: "Tristan Lockwood, are you insane?"
Tristan Lockwood wiped the blood off his lip and looked at her coldly: "Ferris wheels are meant for couples, why are you riding it with that kid Dylan?"
"What does that have to do with you? We’re not a couple either, why did you pull me up?"
Claire Hale blurted out.
This counter-question only fueled the fire on his already bad mood.
He sneered: "When I helped you in your career, why didn’t you say it was none of my business."
Claire Hale was momentarily stunned, and suddenly a rush of anger rose from deep within: "I didn’t ask you to help me, that was your one-sided wish. What, should I be grateful and kneel to you for life?"
"Grateful?" Tristan Lockwood curled his lips without a hint of smile, "If you truly understood gratitude, would you be standing in front of me saying things like this?"
Claire Hale looked away, her gaze falling outside the window.
The Ferris wheel had slowly risen, surrounded by white mist, and Claire Hale suddenly felt an urge to just jump out.
She really didn’t want to keep quarreling like this.
Tristan Lockwood was persistent, continuing: "Do you not know how to keep a distance between men and women at all? Still haven’t had enough trouble with Sean Lockwood regarding Luna Quinn? Now with Dylan, playing the indirect kiss game, Claire Hale, are you that casual?"
Claire Hale rubbed her brow, annoyed: "Are you living on the seaside, that you’re meddling so much? Tristan Lockwood, we are already divorced, in the future, paths are separate, even if I sleep with Dylan, you have no right to say a word!"
After she finished speaking, the entire Ferris wheel was filled with Tristan Lockwood’s cold presence.
"Sleep?"
He curved his lips, eyes showing a hint of coldness, and forcefully grabbed both sides of her chin, pressing hard.
Claire Hale groaned in pain.
Her eyes showed a trace of sarcasm though, "What, are you going to tell me you’re jealous?"
He suddenly went silent, paused for a while, then let go of her, saying coldly: "I can’t be jealous of you."
"Then stop going crazy on me."
Claire Hale retorted coldly.
Although her words were borne out of anger, she didn’t regret saying them.
Tristan Lockwood’s accusations made her feel like she was back to the days before their divorce—the kind of torment where they would hurt one another deeply.
This torment would constantly stir up dissatisfaction deep inside her heart.
And once a person feels dissatisfied, they are prone to getting stuck in a dead end, unable to come out even at the end.
In the quiet air, Claire Hale calmed down and once again spoke with extreme rationality, "Tristan Lockwood, I don’t want to, nor do I have the heart, to keep arguing with you, can we just be strangers from now on?"
"Strangers? Just a few days ago, you drunkenly hugged me saying you liked me, and now you want to be strangers? Claire Hale, do you really have no heart?"
Tristan Lockwood raised his eyebrows slightly, expressionless.
"You’ve used me for more than ten years, even maneuvered my marriage against me, and now with one word ’strangers’, you want to cancel it all out? You sure know how to play your cards well; are the words ’ungrateful’ the only ones in your life’s dictionary."
"I’ve never intended to calculate against you."
She suddenly said.
"I genuinely liked you, that’s why I stayed by your side all these years."
The Ferris wheel cabin suddenly plunged into extreme silence.
Tristan Lockwood stared at her fixedly, his pupils were deep and dark, and his eyes surged with an emotion she couldn’t decipher.
"This is the first time I say I like you, but it’s also the last time."
Claire Hale’s expression was calm, as if the person confessing was not herself.
"Whether you believe it or not, whether it’s appearing by your side, always being with you, or later coercing you into marrying me, it was all because I like you, truly like you."
She lifted her gaze, staring into his dark eyes: "No one would stay by someone else’s side for over a decade without reason, never willing to leave. You might think I’m saying these words are just an excuse to cover up my use of you, but now that I’m being upfront with you, I’m feeling no remorse."
Tristan Lockwood moved his lips slightly, his voice deep: "Why didn’t you ever tell me these words before?"
"Because you would never love me the way I love you."
