Chapter 152

Chapter 152: Chapter 152: Claire Knows Whom I’ve Been Passionate About
Although she and Tristan Lockwood had been married and shared a bed before.
However, in their interactions, apart from mutual hurt, there were none of those romantic steps that young couples should have.
So, in Claire Hale’s view, her past with Tristan Lockwood was merely a case of being "friends with benefits."
Just as she finished speaking, the sound of leather shoes and high heels tapping on the floor came from the doorway.
Claire Hale and Sean Lockwood turned to look at the sound simultaneously, seeing Zoey Adler walking in arm-in-arm with Tristan Lockwood.
Zoey Adler greeted them brightly and casually, "President Lockwood, Miss Hale."
Claire Hale stood up with a polite smile, "Miss Adler."
Sean Lockwood just nodded lightly.
He remained seated on the sofa, legs crossed, with a calm demeanor.
Tristan Lockwood’s indifferent gaze swept over Claire Hale, meeting her eyes for just a second before looking away with great detachment.
He nonchalantly withdrew his hand from Zoey Adler’s grip and walked over to Sean Lockwood, calmly saying, "Uncle."
Sean Lockwood responded, his gaze wandering between Tristan and Zoey, and after a moment, said, "Are you planning to settle down with Miss Adler?"
Tristan Lockwood maintained his composure and said without emotion, "Grandma is urging me."
Sean Lockwood wasn’t very interested in family trivialities; he asked more out of curiosity about Claire Hale’s reaction.
So he glanced at her.
Claire Hale was happily chatting with Zoey Adler.
The two ladies seemed uninterested in the men’s conversation; as they chatted, they moved off to the other side.
Zoey Adler, taking Claire Hale to the window, said with a sigh, "It’s my first time seeing you at the Lockwood Family; it seems Grandpa and Grandma do adore you."
She paused, then continued, "I apologize for the offensive things I said before."
Claire Hale smiled nonchalantly, "You’re not the first to say those things to me. I’ve heard it enough that it doesn’t matter anymore."
"So you don’t mind me being with Tristan now?" Zoey Adler asked suddenly.
Seeing Claire Hale frown slightly, she quickly added, "I didn’t mean anything else. I was just worried you’d really fallen for him when I saw you waiting for him at the hospital last time. Although Tristan used to like you quite a bit, he can be very heartless, and honestly, it can be quite hurtful."
"Don’t worry, Miss Adler."
Claire Hale said casually.
"Tristan and I are nothing more than strangers now. I don’t care about him, and he won’t care about me, there’s nothing I’m holding onto with him."
Zoey Adler smiled, "That’s good. I’ll have to get along well with you in the future."
This statement clearly bore the posture of the mistress.
"Dinner’s ready."
A cold voice sounded behind them.
Claire Hale turned her head, noticing Tristan Lockwood standing behind them at some point.
He wasn’t looking at her; his gaze was fixed on Zoey Adler, and there was a hint of softness Claire had never seen before in his cold eyes.
She withdrew her gaze and quickly walked past them into the dining room alone.
It was unclear if it was because Claire Hale had returned for dinner or because Tristan Lockwood had brought Zoey Adler, but the Elder Lockwood was in a particularly good mood today.
When the elders are in a good mood, discussions about the younger generation getting married and having children are inevitable.
"Tristan, now that you’ve managed to get Luna back, make sure not to drive her away again." Byron Lockwood gave Tristan a look, then turned kindly to Zoey Adler, "Tristan has always been eccentric since he was a child and doesn’t care much about anyone. No girl can endure him, so if you ever feel wronged, do tell Grandpa and Grandma."
Zoey Adler responded with a smile.
Tristan Lockwood said blandly, "I only ignore those I’m not interested in. If I like someone, I’ll naturally be passionate."
Byron Lockwood snorted, "Then why have I never seen you be passionate about anyone!"
As he said this, Zoey Adler shifted her gaze subtly to Claire Hale.
In her mind, she knew Tristan was quite passionate with Claire recently.
Tristan Lockwood suddenly also looked at Claire Hale and said, "Claire knows who I’ve been passionate about."
Claire Hale paused, looking at Tristan Lockwood oddly.
The Lockwood Matriarch silently cursed her husband for his lack of tact but diplomatically rounded things off, "Tristan has been very passionate with Luna this time, even personally bringing her back. Right, Luna?"
Zoey Adler smiled, her eyes arched, "Yes."
The Lockwood Matriarch turned back to Tristan Lockwood, "Now that you’ve settled things, I can rest assured. If there’s a chance to have great-grandchildren, I’d be even happier."
Tristan Lockwood, appearing at ease, shifted his gaze to Zoey Adler, "Whether to have great-grandchildren depends on how urgent Luna feels."
Zoey Adler wasn’t in any hurry.
In fact, she had no plans to marry Tristan Lockwood, and she was certainly in no rush to have children.
"Grandma, let’s just go with the flow."
Zoey Adler hurriedly brushed it off.
Not forgetting to give Tristan Lockwood a reproachful glance.
This glance truly was reproachful, as she was silently complaining why, after agreeing to just act, did talk of having children come up?
However, to everyone else, it seemed like two people with a good relationship exchanging looks.
Sean Lockwood watched like a spectator, deliberately glancing at Claire Hale.
The latter was slowly eating, without the slightest unusual reaction.
"Sean, I heard you broke up again with the eldest Miss Quinn, what happened? Weren’t you the one who wanted to meet her in the first place?"
Byron Lockwood, after letting Tristan go, turned his attention to grilling Sean Lockwood.
"At over thirty, you’re in more of a rush than Tristan from an age perspective."
Sean Lockwood replied unhurriedly, "Miss Quinn’s type is too fiery for my liking."
Byron Lockwood: "Then what is your type?"
Sean Lockwood’s gaze nonchalantly fell on Claire Hale.
The Elder Lockwood didn’t notice, but Claire Hale certainly did.
So did Tristan Lockwood.
Zoey Adler just felt a sudden chill in the air beside her.
Sean Lockwood, as if nothing happened, said coolly, "Quiet, sensible, career-minded, doesn’t like to socialize."
Byron Lockwood was taken aback, "Isn’t that just Claire’s type?"
Elder Lockwood said this with no ulterior motive, just feeling he found a template, he started discussing with the Lockwood Matriarch, "Next time you look for a girl for Sean, you can use Claire as a reference."
The Lockwood Matriarch agreed easily.
However, deep down, she couldn’t help but feel uneasy.
Her gaze toward Sean Lockwood and Claire Hale became a bit peculiar.
After dinner, Claire Hale accompanied the Lockwood Matriarch upstairs to rest.
Upon entering the room, the Lockwood Matriarch casually said, "Claire, if your firm encounters any difficulties, feel free to go to Sean. Now that he’s the main person in charge of the Lockwood Group, we’ll make sure he gives you full support."
