Too Late to Love Her: When She Divorced, He Fell Apart-Chapter 19: Your Man Is So Amazing—Aren’t You Proud Too?

Chapter 19

Chapter 19: Chapter 19: Your Man Is So Amazing—Aren’t You Proud Too?
Knowing she’s stubborn and doesn’t like to admit defeat, speaking to this extent is already a step back.
Tristan Lockwood raised his eyebrows slightly, suddenly thinking of something, he wrapped his arm around her waist and said, "I should not have heard wrongly just now, you said I’m your man."
She struggled for a moment without success and said flatly, "Legally speaking, you indeed are. What, feeling proud now?"
He held her tighter and his hand slipped into her clothes, "You’re proud of your man being so strong, aren’t you?"
Claire Hale’s ears turned subtly red, detecting his implied meaning.
Tristan Lockwood noticed and tilted his head to kiss her.
The two whispered sweet nothings for a while, considering her body hadn’t fully recovered, Tristan Lockwood didn’t go all the way, instead he stopped as soon as she felt good.
Claire Hale lazily glanced at him there, "Comfortable holding back?"
"Not comfortable, but I’m afraid you can’t handle it."
As he said this, she immediately dispelled any pity. When Tristan Lockwood doesn’t say anything about this, he already goes pretty wild. If he shows any signs of dissatisfaction, she wouldn’t be able to get out of bed the next day.
As for Kiara Vance’s matter, Claire Hale originally thought it was over just like that.
Unexpectedly, a few days later, the other party actually came to the law firm.
Kiara Vance, not wearing a nurse’s outfit, carried a branded handbag and dressed in a chic style dress, she walked arrogantly up to Claire Hale, particularly unwillingly said, "The incident at the hospital last time was my fault, I’m sorry."
Claire Hale looked up from the documents, glanced at her casually, "Are you sure you’re here to apologize, and not to continue causing trouble?"
Kiara Vance’s face changed, seething with anger, she said, "Claire Hale, don’t be shameless, I personally came to apologize, what more do you want!"
"I don’t need your apology, keep it for New Year’s."
Claire Hale stood up, slowly walked to stand in front of Kiara Vance and sized her up from top to bottom.
When she didn’t speak, Kiara Vance became flustered instead, "Why are you staring at me? Haven’t seen a beauty before?"
Claire Hale locked onto her eyes and said, "I’m just curious, Nurse Liu, before the IV incident at the hospital last time, I’ve only properly interacted with you once. Why do you hate me so much?"
"You have a fox spirit’s face, looking at you is annoying, I can’t stand you, is that not allowed?"
Kiara Vance raised her voice, her words were harsh enough to be heard outside the office.
The others at the law firm couldn’t stand it anymore, they pushed the door open and asked Claire Hale if she needed them to deal with this woman.
Claire Hale waved her hand, signaling them to leave.
She pondered Kiara Vance’s words and scrutinized her for a long time, then suddenly said coldly, "Fox spirit? By what reason do you say I’m a fox spirit."
Kiara Vance snorted coldly, "Breaking up couples, isn’t that what a fox s..."
She suddenly covered her mouth, only realizing she had walked into a trap when meeting Claire Hale’s amused eyes.
"Tina, see her out."
Once she figured out the situation, Claire Hale didn’t say anything more to Kiara Vance.
She was still a bit surprised, not expecting there was this connection between the Princess Pea and Kiara Vance.
From what Tristan Lockwood said last time, the Vance family in Riverbend clearly had deep connections, not something small families could associate with. For the Princess Pea to have the Vance family’s heiress stand up for her, her identity and status must be significant.
Not long after seeing Kiara Vance off, a call came in on the outside line, saying a particularly handsome Mr. Lockwood was looking for her.
Claire Hale furrowed her brows, so Tristan Lockwood hasn’t given up on causing trouble, wanting her to fight a divorce case against him.
"Tell him I’m not taking his case."
"But..."
Before her colleague could finish her sentence, Claire Hale’s office door was pushed open.
"President Hale, this Mr. Lockwood says he wants to talk to you alone."
Tina Hayes said this and immediately slipped out, kindly closing the door behind them.
There was no way around it, that Mr. Lockwood’s aura was too strong, unfathomable, one could easily tell he wasn’t someone to be trifled with, almost scarier than the boss’ husband.
In the office, Claire Hale looked at the man in front of her, a flash of surprise appeared in her eyes.
She didn’t expect, after Chelsea Walton’s banquet, she would have dealings with this man again.
"Sean Lockwood."
This time, the man took the initiative to introduce himself.
The other party clearly had no interest in bringing up the issue at the previous ball, Claire Hale naturally wouldn’t bring it up herself, so she nodded slightly and asked, "Mr. Lockwood, what seems to be the problem?"
Sean Lockwood’s voice was deep and resonant, "My wife wants to divorce me, I disagree, I want to make her abandon the idea."
"Has your wife ever subjected you to domestic violence? Or does she gamble or use drugs?"
Although Sean Lockwood didn’t seem like the type to be controlled by a woman, much less find himself married to someone lawless, Claire Hale asked the statutory grounds for divorce one by one, as per her professional duty.
Sean Lockwood answered patiently, but when asked about the last item, whether they had been separated for two years, he paused and said, "She’s been missing for a year."
Claire Hale froze for a moment and said, "In such a situation, have you considered ing to the police? What if something happened to your wife."
"She’s deliberately avoiding me." Sean Lockwood said with certainty, "Lawyer Hale, I want you to find her."
In his words, there was a commanding tone that left no room for argument, Claire Hale felt uneasy and said, "This is a law firm, not a detective agency. If you’re looking for someone, go out and turn right, there’s the police station."
Her tone noticeably hardened, yet Sean Lockwood was unmoved, he glanced up and down at her and said indifferently, "Lawyer Hale was like a fish in the water when investigating her own husband, helping me find someone should be a piece of cake."
Claire Hale was suddenly taken aback and stared at him warily.
"You know Tristan Lockwood?"
Sean Lockwood didn’t deny it, he lightly swept a gaze over her and said, "I held him by the hand when he was little."
As he said this, and considering both were named Lockwood, Claire Hale suspected Sean Lockwood was also part of the Lockwood family.
But the Lockwood family had a vast lineage, exactly how deep the relationship was with Tristan Lockwood was hard to say.
Judging from appearances, Sean Lockwood didn’t seem old, he had an exceptional physique and appearance, but the mature aura he exuded was very strong, making it easy to feel oppressed and hesitant to speak, like the intoxicating rich aroma of aged wine, unknowingly drawing people in.
"Who exactly are you..."
"In the future, we’ll have plenty of chances to interact, but right now, I’m your client. Please maintain your professionalism and don’t be swayed by what isn’t pertinent."
Claire Hale: "..."
She had clearly not officially agreed to take the job, yet Sean Lockwood was already acting as though she ought to follow his instructions.
He took out his phone and opened a picture from his gallery, placing it before her.
The woman in the picture had snow-white skin, striking blonde hair, her luscious red lips were charmingly bright, her features were pronounced yet retained the unique bone structure typical of Orientals.
Claire Hale scrutinized the photo for a full five minutes, that alluring face with striking beauty, bore a striking resemblance to a face from her distant memories.
"Her name is Jade Sutton." Sean Lockwood said as he looked at her, "This name, you should be very familiar with."
