Chapter 41: Chapter 41: She Is Still My Wife
Dean Dawson stood up, looked down at Jade Sutton, and asked, "Do you know Claire Hale?"
From how she addressed Claire Hale, he could sense a certain familiarity.
Jade Sutton: "You can’t get her, but you don’t have to be too upset. She’s indifferent not just to you. Even to Tristan Lockwood, she’s always been quite aloof. Otherwise, Tristan wouldn’t be so heartless in wanting to divorce her."
After speaking, she observed Dean Dawson’s expression, the latter seeming to be lost in thought.
Jade Sutton smiled gently, her watery eyes looking straight at him, saying, "You might have heard some different rumors. But I still have to tell you, both Tristan and I have known her since childhood, she was born with a cold nature, she won’t develop feelings for anyone."
Dean Dawson: "What is your purpose in telling me this?"
"It’s nothing really."
Jade Sutton chuckled softly, her face especially captivating in the morning glow.
"Claire, although indifferent to emotions, is actually not averse to matters between men and women. In the past, she’s often engaged in such relationships."
After speaking, she glanced over Dean Dawson’s face.
Dean Dawson’s expression became noticeably subtle.
"Attorney Dawson, you’re not a young lad anymore, playing that pure love game with women is useless."
Jade Sutton smiled brilliantly.
Gone was the helpless and pitiable look she showed when pleading with Claire Hale yesterday.
Dean Dawson’s gaze shifted back to Claire Hale’s tent.
She still hadn’t come out.
Tina Hayes came out then too. She was still sleepy-eyed, but upon seeing the radiant sunrise, she immediately perked up.
Seeing Dean Dawson alone, she asked curiously, "Hasn’t President Hale gotten up yet?"
Dean Dawson’s eyes were deep, "Claire told me last night she’s not interested in the sunrise and wants to sleep more. You guys go down the mountain first, I’ll wait for her."
Tina Hayes was taken aback, wanting to ask more. But then another colleague pulled her aside to let her fully enjoy the rare beauty.
After the sunrise, people on the mountain started heading down one after the other.
When Claire Hale came out of the tent, she only saw Dean Dawson.
She moved her gaze away indifferently, preparing to pack up the tent. But Dean Dawson quickly packed it up for her.
"About last night, I was abrupt."
Dean Dawson gave her an apologetic smile.
"Claire, can we still continue being friends in the future?"
Claire Hale said nothing.
Her face didn’t look well, unnaturally pale, and her eyes were swollen, likely from crying.
Dean Dawson noticed, but pretended not to see it.
On the way down, he deliberately mentioned there’s a shortcut that might allow them to catch up with Tina Hayes quickly.
Claire Hale absentmindedly followed him until she noticed there was almost no one around, sensing something was wrong, she stopped walking.
"Dean Dawson, where are you taking me?"
Dean Dawson placed his hand on her shoulder, lightly caressing it, saying, "Taking you down the mountain."
Almost immediately, Claire Hale evaded his touch.
She looked at Dean Dawson, his expression ambiguous, with a sinister feeling that was quite intimidating.
Claire Hale turned around directly, silently intending to find the main road.
However, as soon as she turned, her wrist was tightly grabbed by Dean Dawson, and he forcefully pulled her into his arms, lowering his head to kiss her.
Claire Hale clenched her mouth shut and lifted her bag to hit him.
Deceptively thin and scholarly-looking, Dean Dawson had terrifying strength and pinned Claire Hale to the ground.
As he held her down, there was ridicule in his eyes: "Claire, why can you accept Tristan Lockwood, but not me? I like you more than he does, and doing these things, I can make you happier than he can."
Claire Hale’s hair was disheveled, coldly staring at him: "Dean Dawson, if you continue, you’re breaking the law. You should know very well how long a rapist will sit in jail."
Her voice trembled as she spoke.
"You can try, take me to court, see if you can win." Dean Dawson chuckled, his expression frivolous, then lifted her chin, saying, "In the end, aren’t you and Tristan Lockwood just a bed relationship? Try with me today, maybe you’ll want to kick him aside. After all, you’re quite adept at this kind of relationship."
"What nonsense are you talking?"
Claire Hale frowned, while the hand hidden behind her back quietly tried to operate her phone.
When Tristan Lockwood’s phone rang, he wasn’t in the car.
Jade Sutton heard the vibration and glanced at the caller ID.
When she saw the words Claire Hale, her eyes flickered, and she pressed the answer button.
From the other end, came the sound of Claire Hale’s muffled groan of pain.
Jade Sutton curled her lips, feigning concern, asking, "Claire, what’s wrong?"
There was a brief pause, then Dean Dawson’s voice sounded, "Claire’s fine, she’s with me."
Jade Sutton: "Attorney Dawson, you caught up with Claire so quickly? Congratulations, but I think, since Claire is still someone else’s wife, you guys should pay attention to propriety, right? Why call Tristan to show off when dating?"
"Claire accidentally pressed the wrong button. Miss Sutton, please keep this a secret."
Dean Dawson said as he covered Claire Hale’s mouth, holding her phone.
Jade Sutton chuckled, "Alright, I don’t want to add to Tristan’s troubles. This morning he told me he wants to go back and quickly finalize the divorce with Claire. It’s good Claire has someone with her."
As she spoke, she looked outside the window, seeing Tristan Lockwood coming back from the restroom, approaching.
Jade Sutton immediately hung up and deleted the call record.
When Tristan Lockwood got in the car, he still carried a bracing chill.
Jade Sutton softly asked, "Tristan, you’ve been in a bad mood since this morning, what’s the matter?"
Tristan Lockwood glanced at his phone, not responding to her.
Jade Sutton thought for a moment, asking cautiously, "Is it because of Claire?"
Tristan Lockwood raised his eyes, looking at her lightly, saying, "When you get back, just have a good rest, don’t overthink it."
"Okay." Jade Sutton nodded obediently, and when Tristan Lockwood was about to start the car, she mentioned casually, "At sunrise today, I didn’t see Claire, could she be feeling unwell?"
Tristan Lockwood’s action paused.
When he left her tent, part of what he said was indeed speaking out of coldness.
Moreover, with her personality, hearing his words without any retort was unexpected.
Could it be that those words really hurt her?
Jade Sutton suddenly added fuel to the fire, "But later I saw Attorney Dawson enter Claire’s tent. They seem to be getting along well, maybe Claire has really found someone she likes."
"Have you said enough?"
Tristan Lockwood suddenly gave her a cold glance.
"She is still my wife now, are you hoping for her infidelity by saying such words?"
