Chapter 116: The Confession
And unlike last year, this year’s special coming-of-age banquet was held in the Rong family’s old mansion.
All four brothers, including the third brother who lived in the laboratory and the second brother who was always recording some show, had returned to the old house.
They were all dressed in formal suits and no matter where they walked, they were eye-catching figures.
The star of the night, Rong Xingyu, wore a fitted pure black suit and the hair that usually covered his forehead was all brushed back.
With nothing covering his beautiful eyebrows and eyes, he instantly caught everyone’s attention.
His whole appearance had a mysterious feeling, somewhere between a boy and a young man, mixing youthfulness with a quiet maturity.
As soon as he appeared, countless people openly and secretly turned their eyes toward him.
But Rong Xingyu had something on his mind.
He only frowned and didn’t pay attention to those gazes.
He was still thinking about whether Dr. Ding would come.
It was as if heaven heard the birthday boy’s thoughts.
Just as Rong Xingyu was resting his chin on his hand and looking lazily into the distance, a familiar figure suddenly appeared in his sight.
Rong Xingyu’s eyes lit up instantly.
He couldn’t help standing up from his seat, a joy he didn’t even notice showing on his face.
"Dr. Ding."
Ding Yixin was still dressed in his elegant handmade three-piece suit.
His long hair was tied back and even the gold-rimmed glasses could not hide the depth in his eyes.
He walked slowly with a cane, calm and steady, like an old English noble strolling through a garden.
Rong Xingyu couldn’t help taking one step forward, but when he saw Ding Yixin suddenly surrounded by a group of people who rushed toward him like they smelled a scent, Rong Xingyu stopped in place.
The people surrounding Ding Yixin all had flattering smiles on their faces.
They spoke one after another, all trying to leave a deeper impression.
Ding Yixin acted as if he didn’t even see their uncomfortable smiles.
Instead, he stood there with perfect grace, without showing any impatience.
It was not an exaggeration to say that, compared to the people around him, calling him a noble earlier was not accurate enough.
Surrounded by people who themselves had respectable status and position, Ding Yixin looked even more like a calm, superior king.
His face did not show many expressions and he even looked gentle, which only made the people around him seem even more like clowns.
Rong Xingyu blinked his eyes and lifted his head to look at Ding Yixin.
"Thank you, Brother Xin."
Ding Yixin’s hand suddenly froze and for once, an expression of disbelief appeared on his face.
"Yuyu, what did you just call me?"
Rong Xingyu raised his head again and called him Brother Xin one more time.
His voice was crisp and the word brother came out soft and sweet, with a strangely intimate and lingering tone.
Ding Yixin bent his fingers and coughed lightly behind them, then turned his face away, as if he needed to hide some emotion.
If the lighting here wasn’t so dim, Rong Xingyu would have seen that the tips of Ding Yixin’s ears were faintly red.
Very soon, when Ding Yixin turned his face back again, there was no trace of anything unusual.
But when he spoke, the sudden roughness in his voice exposed the calm he could not maintain.
"Good boy, Yuyu... can you call me that again."
Being stared at with that predator-like gaze, Rong Xingyu instinctively wanted to escape like a small animal, but he didn’t.
Instead, he behaved and called out again.
"Brother Xin."
Maybe the beast didn’t even need to show its claws, Rong Xingyu was already obedient to the extreme.
He looked straight into Ding Yixin’s eyes, his mind heating up and the words he had held inside for so long suddenly slipped out.
"Brother Xin, I like you."
Afraid that Ding Yixin might not understand, he hurried to add, "Dr. Ding, I like you."
After saying it, Rong Xingyu widened his eyes slightly, staring at Ding Yixin, afraid to miss even the smallest change on his face.
But Ding Yixin said nothing.
He simply looked at Rong Xingyu in silence.
The tipsiness that had made Rong Xingyu bold began to fade, and his heart slowly sank.
Rong Xingyu’s heart slowly sank.
He stepped forward all of a sudden, closing the distance sharply, practically falling into Ding Yixin’s arms.
His body swayed only a little before Ding Yixin reached out and steadied him.
Rong Xingyu tilted his head up, scrunching his nose and pouting like a child who didn’t get his candy.
"You... you don’t like me?"
Seeing Rong Xingyu’s hurt expression, Ding Yixin finally broke his silence.
He sighed, placing his right hand on the side of Rong Xingyu’s face, his thumb gently rubbing twice.
"I like you. I like you very much."
Ding Yixin’s voice was hoarse. "I like you the most. I only like you."
Even though the place was dim, Rong Xingyu clearly saw Ding Yixin’s eyes.
Deep inside them, desire and affection were tightly mixed together.
Rong Xingyu felt as if he was melting under that gaze.
His heart had completely lost control; it was pounding so hard it felt as if it might burst out of his chest.
Even though he was still a little drunk, the last bit of clarity in his mind reminded him that he had just confessed to Dr. Ding.
He couldn’t help turning his face slightly, rubbing obediently against Ding Yixin’s palm like a small animal seeking comfort.
If Ding Yixin liked him... then why didn’t he agree just now?
This was his first time confessing to someone, after all.
Ding Yixin shook his head helplessly and said, "Yuyu, you are a little drunk."
"No, no, I am not drunk at all!" Rong Xingyu shook his dizzy head as hard as he could.
He opened his mouth and stood on his toes, pushing his face closer, clearly wanting Ding Yixin to smell his breath.
