Trapped in Paradise (In a Hentai World, as a Trap)-Chapter 299

"Ugh, English is so hard~"
"I’m doomed… I’ll probably have to retake the exam next semester..."
Ning Chu staggered out of the exam hall, looking completely defeated. She turned to Wen Yang, face drooping with despair.
“Wen Yang... We still have advanced calculus this afternoon. What do I do~?”
Somehow, without her even realizing it, the first day of finals week was already over—and she hadn’t even reviewed properly. As if to make things worse, a cold snap had rolled in the night before, bringing light snow with it. It was the first time Ning Chu had ever seen real snow in her life… and all she could feel was misery.
She was a transmigrator! Shouldn’t she at least be acing her college finals, if not becoming the world’s richest tech mogul or something?
But the way she performed just now... even
passing
felt like a distant dream.
“You can’t even memorize vocabulary properly...” Wen Yang scratched his head with a wry smile. “I don’t think I can help you anymore.”
Ning Chu glared at him. She bounced lightly in place to stay warm, hiding her freezing hands in her coat pockets.
“So cold~ This is my first time seeing snow.”
“We live on a mountain. Snow is normal here.”
Her cheeks were rosy red from the cold, and her nose was bright pink. Her hands, feet, and ears were all itchy and burning from the chill. Unsurprisingly, she’d gotten frostbite.
Her once delicate, slender fingers now looked like swollen carrots—red and inflamed.
Obviously the frostbite had affected her test performance!
“So cold~” she whined, stepping closer to Wen Yang and lifting the bottom of his coat to slide her hands inside. “Warmth~”
“I
told
you to wear gloves. Now you’ve got frostbite,” Wen Yang scolded lightly as he wrapped his arms around her.
“I heard soaking your hands in cold water helps with frostbite—like fighting poison with poison.”
“I’ve never heard of that! Are you trying to kill me?!”
“Whoa~ Get a room!”
Yan Xinya had just stepped out of her exam room and froze at the sight of the cuddly couple. Her eyes sparkled with delight.
“Hugging in public~ That’s so sweet~!”
“I’m just trying to stay warm!” Ning Chu protested.
“Sure, sure~”
“How did your exam go?” Ning Chu turned to her and asked hopefully, “Did you fail?”
“Fail? Please. I’m definitely passing!”
This husky of a girl who only ever thought about shipping couples could pass?!
Ning Chu pressed her cheek against Wen Yang’s chest, even more dejected than before.
“I’m doomed… What if I’m the only one in the entire class who has to retake it?”
“By the way~ Any progress on Shaoqing’s love story?” Yan Xinya leaned in, brimming with gossip. “It’s been, like, two weeks. Don’t tell me
nothing’s
happened yet?”
“Pretty much nothing,” Ning Chu sighed.
Zhang Shaoqing had no clue how to chase a girl. Add in the awkwardness of their age and status gap, and the rich second-gen still hadn’t made any real progress with Miss Qian Qian, the cat girl teacher. At best, they had a decent teacher-student rapport.
Ning Chu had even looked through their chat logs—just boring stuff like him asking about homework and her answering questions. No spicy drama.
The guy didn’t even have the guts to ask her out!
Where was all that shameless confidence from before?! He’d completely chickened out now that it actually mattered!
While waiting outside the classroom, the group spotted Zhang Shaoqing finally strolling out with his usual lazy gait. The moment he emerged, everyone in the hallway turned to stare at him in unison.
“…What’re you all looking at?”
He actually looked a little guilty, his eyes darting to the side.
“You’re so hopeless!” Yan Xinya huffed, hands on her hips. “I’ve already infiltrated her circle and got you so much intel! And you’ve made
zero
progress!”
“I’m taking it slow, okay? Love isn’t something you rush.”
“Wait—don’t tell me you’re not into her anymore?”
Zhang Shaoqing scratched his head and muttered, “Didn’t she already say she likes someone else…”
“So what?” Yan Xinya snapped. “That just means it’s time to
steal the girl
! Liking someone isn’t the same as dating or being married! You’re rich and handsome—what’re you scared of, huh?”
“…I just don’t think there’s a rush.”
“No rush? You already forgot how your childhood crush got snatched up right under your nose?”
That hit a nerve. Zhang Shaoqing immediately panicked.
“That’s
different
! This is
not
the same thing!”
Ning Chu finally slipped out of Wen Yang’s arms.
Even though Zhang Shaoqing had known about her relationship with Wen Yang for a while, being all touchy-feely with him in front of a former roommate still made her face flush with embarrassment.
But she wasn’t focused on his love life—she had her own priorities.
“How’d
you
do on the exam?” she asked expectantly.
Her beautiful peach blossom eyes sparkled, clearly hoping that
he
also flunked. At least if she had to retake the test, she wouldn’t be alone in her misery.
“Me? That English test was easy. I took the IELTS back in the day, remember?”
“…What.”
‘Great,’
she thought, ‘
and here I thought we were all just winging it. Turns out I’m the only complete failure~’
Wen Yang, noticing her spirits sink even further, quickly comforted her.
“The final exam doesn’t count for everything. You’ve been going to class regularly, right? Your participation and coursework grades should be full marks. Don’t worry too much.”
“I studied this long and it still didn’t help...” Ning Chu mumbled with a pout.
English hadn’t even been her main focus for review—but for some reason, no matter how many vocabulary words she tried to memorize, they just wouldn’t stick.
“Where’s Lily and Wang Jie? They’re still not out?”
As soon as she mentioned Lily, the stoic succubus walked calmly out of the classroom.
“You’re so slow~” Yan Xinya practically skipped over and clung to Lily’s arm. “Let’s go eat together!”
“I stayed behind to double-check everything,” Lily replied, expressionless as ever.
“Let’s eat.” Zhang Shaoqing looked visibly troubled, dragging his feet. “Should I try asking Qian Qian out tonight? I don’t think she’ll flat-out say no. But whenever we talk online, it’s
all
about homework. The second I try to bring up anything else, she shuts down.”
Yan Xinya immediately jumped on the idea.
“Do it! What’s the worst that could happen? Asking her out won’t kill you!”
“Exactly,” Ning Chu added with a smirk. “You were so shameless before—now you’re suddenly shy?”
“If you don’t make a move soon, you’ll be sneaking around to hotels again just to run into her.”

Come on!
Can you
please
stop bringing that up?!”
Ning Chu clicked her tongue and sidled up to Wen Yang again, whispering, “Wen Yang… my face is itchy…”
“It’s the dry air. I told you this morning to put on some moisturizer, but you wouldn’t listen.” Wen Yang looked down at her now-reddened face, the skin dry and even cracked in places. “You bought all that skincare stuff but never use it.”
“I ran out of time, okay?”
Without saying anything, Wen Yang pulled a bottle of lotion from his oversized coat pocket.
“Here, put some on.”
“You actually brought it with you~” Ning Chu grinned, happily squeezing some into her hand and rubbing it between her palms. She dabbed the cream on her cheeks—but halfway through, she paused, frowning.
“…Something feels off.”
“I’m starving. Whatever it is, just deal with it later,” Yan Xinya called from ahead. “Let’s go! After lunch, we need to cram for calculus!”
“Oh—okay.” Ning Chu quickly followed along.
The group left the academic building, laughing and chatting as they made their way toward the cafeteria.
A few minutes later, Wang Jie finally stumbled out of the classroom with dark circles under his eyes, yawning wide. He blinked at the now-empty hallway.
“…Where’d everyone go?”
He looked left and right, completely baffled.
They were just outside before he turned in his paper!
