Yveline was startled, and suddenly her body wasn't weak anymore, her legs regained strength, and she even felt like hitting someone.
"You did that on purpose."
The Dark Elf jumped down, her face changing instantly.
One moment she was all lovey-dovey, and the next she turned into a cold and aloof queen.
"How could I!" Xia Ya looked innocent. "How could I have known someone was doing important business in the room?"
"Aren't you the Chosen One?"
"You finally believe me."
"You..."
Yveline took a deep breath, her chest rising and falling, and calmed down after a few seconds.
"Lead the way."
Such a small matter wasn't enough to make her angry.
It was just that she never got the upper hand when dealing with Xia Ya, which made her feel quite annoyed.
After all, she was a woman who was picky even about her posture.
Xia Ya praised, "As expected of Miss Yveline, even calming your anger is a bit faster than others."
"Hmph, I just want to know where the second path to the stronghold is."
"No, I never said I was going to your stronghold..."
Yveline frowned, "Then where are you going?"
"The Fight Club."
"What is that?"
Xia Ya pointed to the entrance opposite the Brotherhood,
"Go down the steps there, I'll explain as we walk."
To prevent a similar situation, Yveline concealed herself and walked ahead this time.
Xia Ya admired the semi-transparent figure in front of him and explained as they walked:
"Svartalf sealed off Andarheim over a decade ago. Before that, there was a group of purple-skinned cave dwellers living underground, remember?"
"I know, they have bumps on their heads, call themselves Mushroom People, and even started some company..."
"The Crimson Mushroom Investment Company," Xia Ya said. "They bribed your former queen, got the news in advance, and escaped before the Lord of Night sealed the underground. They joined with the surface goblins to form the 'Gold Only Society,' officially known as the 'Gold is Truth Union.'"
"Goblins? Those green-skinned dwarfs who only know how to brew potions and feed ogres? Aren't they weak?"
"In terms of physical strength alone, they are indeed weak, but knowledge is power too..."
Xia Ya said helplessly.
Some fundamental truths weren't suitable to explain to Yveline, like productivity, currency, finance, and so on.
She almost had no concept of these things.
This involved educational issues.
Although she received queen education, 70% of the Dark Elf queen education was about serving the Lord of Night, the remaining 30% was torture, etiquette, and hatred theory, with nothing about knowledge, productivity, or scientific development.
It's simply a failure of education!
Under such education, it's no wonder they secretly plotted for thousands of years without being able to counterattack the surface, and whenever a Dark Elf was sent out on a mission, they usually ended up not wanting to return.
"In short, just remember that the 'Gold Only Society' is very strong," Xia Ya concluded.
The Dark Elf was half-convinced.
The two of them entered through a sewer entrance, enduring the foul stench for over ten meters until they were blocked by a yellow-green water curtain.
"Are you sure this is the entrance..."
While Yveline was still hesitating, Xia Ya pushed her in.
"Ah—"
Yveline's scream was cut short as the expected sensation didn't occur.
In an instant, she realized it was a portal!
She opened her eyes, finding herself and the surrounding air clean.
They were in an arena-like building, with a semi-transparent ceiling above.
The arena was surrounded by wooden fences, sharpened at the top. Despite being fine peach wood, it gleamed with a brown metallic sheen.
The Dark Elf understood that it was the sheen of oil after being repeatedly stained with blood and cleaned hundreds of times until the blood seeped into the wood grain and couldn't be wiped away.
Despite the cold and grim architecture, the atmosphere inside was unusually lively, with a cacophony of noise mixed with ear-piercing music, wave after wave, hitting them in the face.
Outside the fence was a multi-tiered composite stand, with a wildly cheering and roaring audience, a complete hodgepodge!
She even saw a Sun Elf and a Dark Elf with their arms around each other's shoulders!
By Synlos, what kind of world was this?
Behind them was the entrance, constantly swirling with magical light, and their arrival didn't cause much of a stir, as if people here were used to sudden intrusions.
"Hey, buddy, welcome to the Fight Club, where's your ticket?"
A drunken ogre shouted at the Dark Elf, staggering over.
The Dark Elf was curious about what would happen next, only to see Xia Ya step forward, and a bright white sword tip emerged from the ogre's neck.
Bang!
The massive body fell to the ground, the sound slightly hollow against the floor.
Yveline curiously bent down and knocked on it.
As a follower of Synlos, the Dark Elf had no awareness of her companion being a murderer, as if Xia Ya's sudden killing was less interesting than her new discovery.
"Hey, it's hollow underneath..."
"You can tell just by looking at the arena."
Xia Ya pointed inside, wiping his sword clean on the ogre.
"An iron net? A hollow floor? What's underneath?" Yveline exclaimed.
"Fire."
The answer came from a red-headed Mushroom Person with a bump on his head.
"Time is money, as my goblin friends say. So, each match is compressed to under ten minutes. If it goes overtime, the one wasting money will be roasted and carried away."
Less than a meter tall, with short limbs, small eyes, and no nose.
He wore a red badge on his chest, depicting a hand clutching a large gold coin.
He looked like a chestnut from the Mario series.
This was Maka, the manager, host, and cashier of the Astan City Fight Club.
The Mushroom People were so stingy they wouldn't hire someone for this job, but fortunately, all the odd jobs were done by goblin-fed, low-intelligence ogres, so there were no issues.
He walked over with small, unhurried steps, snapped his fingers, and someone carried the ogre away.
"Welcome, you two. Who's the contestant? Or are you both?"
"Just me."
Xia Ya took out a bag of gold coins, exactly the 25 he had just earned.
"Oh, I like contestants who know the rules."
The Mushroom Person's small eyes squinted into a line.
He weighed the money bag, the sound of clinking coins exceptionally pleasing.
He immediately took out a board and crossed out a line of names.
"You're third in line. Tell me your name, contestant."
"Xia Ya."
The Mushroom Person wrote Xia Ya's name down.
Yveline thought he had cut in line by at least ten people.
After the Mushroom Person left, Yveline looked thoughtfully at the bloodstains where the ogre was dragged away.
"Is that some kind of initiation?"
"You mean the ogre? No, it just said the wrong thing."
"What did it say?"
"The first rule of Fight Club: You do not talk about Fight Club."
"But it didn't... Oh, I see, it said 'Welcome to...'."
"Yes, if we were just intruders, this place would be done for," Xia Ya explained.
"Interesting..."
The Dark Elf licked her lips.
She was starting to like this place, chaos with a touch of order, as if it was tailor-made for her.
