Chapter 517: Chapter 255 Puppet Knight Order/Egg Broken_3
Jason watched nervously from the side.
"Honestly, he really looks like a father waiting for his child’s birth," Chadite whispered in Alka’s ear.
Alka nodded in agreement. Jason was even sweating from nervousness.
"It’s coming out!" Matilda, observing the egg, exclaimed.
She felt like she was assisting in a birth.
As her words fell, cracks appeared on the eggshell with a sharp CRACK.
A rainbow-colored, crystal-like claw reached out. Its structure was like crystal, yet it gave off a soft, pliable sensation rather than hardness. The palm had five small claws, waving about.
Soon, the cracks grew larger. A head forcefully pushed its way out from inside.
"CHIRP!"
It was a peculiar, infantile cry.
A head, crystalline like its arm yet soft as fur, poked out. It had large, limpid eyes, with pupils sparkling like multifaceted diamonds, and small, protruding horns adorned its round head. Two small, slightly protruding feet, like Crystal Pillars, could be seen. A nose, buried beneath crystalline fur, revealed two long whiskers.
Soon, the whole body emerged.
When they saw the creature’s complete form, everyone’s eyes widened.
"A dragon?" Lucilia couldn’t help but exclaim, her voice a mix of shock and puzzlement.
The creature truly resembled a Giant Dragon, with a lizard-like body covered in crystalline fur. It had four limbs, short wings on its back, and a long dragon tail covered in crystalline fur, which swung back and forth.
She hadn’t yet learned to run. She collapsed to the ground, struggling to stand as she adapted to her limbs.
Seeing this, Jason couldn’t help but move to assist, but Julia stopped him.
"Calm down, she’s growing," Julia said.
After wobbling a few steps, it was clear she had learned. She ran to her egg and began to eat it in large mouthfuls. The sturdy eggshell crunched like a biscuit.
The group watched without interrupting.
Facing everyone’s gazes, she seemed neither scared nor fearful, simply continuing to eat. In no time, she had eaten the eggshell completely.
BURP. She let out a tiny burp.
She looked at Jason beside her and wobbled over, her eyes half-closed, looking quite sleepy. Jason quickly reached out, and the Crystal Dragon dove directly into his arms.
SIGH~ She shifted her position, emitting a comfortable sound.
Jason stood up, holding the Crystal Dragon.
"Buji!" the Crystal Dragon chirped at Jason, an unfamiliar cry.
"She’s... calling my name," Jason murmured, reaching out to stroke her head, smoothing her crystalline fur.
The group watched from the side, listening to the Crystal Dragon’s sounds and Jason muttering to himself.
"Looks like only Jason can understand what she’s saying," Alka said.
Juanlu, after looking around, suddenly asked, "So, what does she eat?"
Hearing this, Jason was momentarily stunned. His expression then turned grave, and he said tremulously, "She eats meat, but mainly... Crystal Gems."
"..."
Upon hearing this, the group fell silent. They looked at Jason with a bit of sympathy.
It seemed his little Treasure Vault might all be used to feed this Crystal Dragon in the future.
But soon, Jason’s expression brightened. He looked down at the Crystal Dragon, already asleep in his arms, his eyes shining as he said to the group, "You might not believe it, but this little one is like a Treasure."
"Huh?" Chadite sounded puzzled.
What does he mean, like a Treasure?
Seeing their puzzled gazes, Jason raised his hand to demonstrate. As Magic Power gathered, a bullet-like crystal condensed in his hand.
"I’ve formed a contract with her. This contract has given me feedback, making it feel as if I possess a Treasure and granting me mastery over her special abilities."
Having controlled a Treasure before, Jason was very familiar with this sensation.
"And in the future, if I want to acquire Treasures, it will depend on whether they are compatible with her. The same Treasure can provide feedback to both of us."
"’So, a Treasure was stored within a Treasure,’ Alka mused aloud. After nearly four years, this dragon had finally hatched. It was worth it."
Thinking about it this way... could this creature be a growth-type Treasure, the kind protagonists usually get?
As this thought crossed her mind, Alka couldn’t help but give Jason a strange look.
"Speaking of which, how many Gemstones and crystal-like items do we have left on board?" Jason suddenly asked.
After all, they had sold some already. He didn’t know how much was left in the Treasure Vault and whether it would be enough to feed this little one.
Chadite, standing beside him, said directly, "Don’t worry, there’s quite a lot left. We’ve mainly sold precious metals like gold."
As the ship’s financial manager, she was perfectly clear on their reserves.
"That’s good."
The group watched the Crystal Dragon for a while longer. She slept soundly in Jason’s arms, showing no signs of waking.
Then, Jason suddenly remembered something and said to Alka and Simon, "If you don’t mind, could you help me make a bed that fits her?"
"No problem." The two nodded and led Jason toward the manufacturing hall.
A new member had joined the ship.
"To celebrate the egg hatching, let’s have a feast tonight!"
"WOOHOO!"
"Keep it down! Do you want to wake her?"
"Feast! Feast!"
"Alright, I’ll go prepare the ingredients."
All sorts of cheers erupted on board, along with the excited sounds of the Puppet Girl running around.
The ship grew lively. It seemed this was quite nice too.
After another ten or so days and nights of sailing, they finally caught sight of an Island in the distance.
Alka stood at the bow, gazing into the distance as the dark speck on the horizon grew larger. Various other ships also appeared around them. These ships were generally over 40 meters long; they even saw a colossal vessel, over 100 meters in length, slowly passing by in the distance.
"’That ship is huge, isn’t it? How do they even build something that big?’ Simon exclaimed, peering through a telescope, his voice filled with amazement."
"’I don’t know. We’ll find out once we’re on the Island. Why worry so much now?’"
"’That’s true.’"
By now, they could clearly see the Island; it was also quite large. The coastline stretched as far as the eye could see. It was indeed a large Island.
They were heading towards a port, a vast area that seemed to envelop an entire corner of the Island. All sorts of ships were docked there, including more of those colossal vessels over 100 meters long. The densely packed masts of the ships rose like a forest.
It truly lives up to the name Landmark Island.
The sight of it alone was enough to meet their expectations. A sense of excitement stirred in everyone’s hearts.
