Chapter 526: Chapter 258 Island Observations_3
However, the Spells one could buy probably wouldn’t be very effective. It would be more appropriate to provide these to one’s own faction as rewards. After all, Spells could be considered a faction’s specialty. And the factions engaging in this kind of trade were, one might say, making money out of thin air.
The group chatted for a while, discussing intelligence they had gathered from wandering around the Island during the day.
Alka suddenly looked at Simon and asked, "How long until you reach the Third Stage?"
"It won’t be long; I have a feeling," Simon replied.
Hearing this, Alka nodded. He was close too and should also be able to reach the Third Stage within the next few days. By then, their ship would have two Third Stage combatants.
"Are you trying to earn more contributions?" Chadite asked.
Alka nodded; that was indeed his intention. If they really went Treasure hunting with Balazs, they would definitely have to sign a contract. In that case, he would have to consider the issue of mutual contributions. Because he knew there was a Treasure there.
"How much do you think a Treasure would be worth?" Alka suddenly asked.
"This..." Alka’s sudden question left everyone present silent.
How could anyone even calculate that? Such items were unheard of in the Homeland Sea; a Treasure, the core of a faction, had never been seen offered for trade. There weren’t even any records. After all, with a Treasure, who would lack money?
"I think it’s better to ask Balazs about this. In the Endless Sea, there must have been cases of Treasures being traded," Chadite suggested.
"Why do you say that?"
"Look around our ship. Only Ghost Ships should be able to dock here, right?"
Upon hearing Chadite’s words, the group, not being fools, instantly understood what she meant.
"Oh, so that’s how it is. Looking at it that way, it’s indeed possible," Julia said with sudden understanding.
"Are you all speaking in riddles?" Pororo asked, looking at them helplessly. Although he wasn’t a fool, he rarely pondered such words. Indirect, roundabout speech made him uncomfortable. "Why do you always talk in circles? Can’t you be more direct?"
Hearing Pororo’s words, everyone couldn’t help but smile.
Finally, Alka laughed and explained, "There are at least twenty-odd Ghost Ships docked around us. Conservatively, that means at least twenty people on the Island possess Treasures. And that’s a bare minimum, as our team certainly isn’t the only one with multiple people possessing Treasures."
"This is just one Landmark Island in the Endless Sea. While Landmark Islands aren’t numerous, they aren’t exceedingly rare either. In the Endless Sea, ordinary Holy Grail Level Treasures are clearly not legendary items. Considering the Difficulty of possessing multiple Treasures, some people inevitably acquire Treasures that aren’t a good fit for them."
At this, Pororo nodded in understanding.
In such circumstances, Treasures would inevitably be traded. So, it would surely be better to entrust a Treasure to someone trustworthy. But who possessed such courage? Most hearts were ruled by selfishness. Selling a Treasure for a large sum of money was probably considered more advantageous than sharing it. Especially in cooperative teams where trust was lacking, acquiring a Treasure left only two choices: communicate effectively or engage in bloody conflict.
"Alright, you all continue chatting. I’m going to make dinner," Juanlu said, standing up and walking out.
Not long after, the signal for dinner came from outside.
The group left the captain’s cabin and proceeded to the dining room.
Juanlu handed Jason a plate holding a light-red, gel-like substance.
"Here, what you asked for."
"Thanks."
"BUJI! BUJI!" Hearing the calls from behind him, Jason’s face filled with exasperation.
"Alright, alright, stop shouting! I’m coming!"
Resignedly, he returned to his seat, pulled out the adjacent chair, lifted the Crystal Dragon from his own, and placed her on it. He watched the Crystal Dragon’s adorable head nuzzle against his chest, then gently stroked the soft, crystal-like fur on her head. Then, several transparent crystals and various red and blue Gemstones appeared in his hand. With a pained expression, he placed these on the nearby plate and poured the gel he held onto them.
"Alright, go ahead and eat, Ulu Liwus."
The Crystal Dragon beside him eagerly devoured the crystals on the plate, making crunching sounds as if she were eating candy.
Watching her chew, Jason’s pained expression intensified.
Every bite is money!
This kind of eating was like stuffing Golden Sails directly into one’s mouth.
The others at the table ate their food, watching Jason’s agonized expression.
"I don’t think those Crystal Gems you have will be enough for her. I suggest you go to the Island and buy some more," Alka said to him with a smile.
Hearing this, Simon chuckled and said, "You might not know since you weren’t with us today, but Jason made quite a name for himself on the Island."
"Oh? What happened?"
"He was lavish today. He spent several hundred Golden Sails and bought out all the Crystal Gems in one of the shops."
"That’s right. And then we ran into two groups of bandits and several thieves on our way back," Juanlu added with a sigh.
Listening to their accounts, Alka couldn’t help but laugh.
"AH! AH! AH!" Across from him, Ulu Liwus flapped her tiny wings, opened her beak wide like a baby bird waiting to be fed, and cried out to Jason.
"You want to eat more? Has your appetite grown again?" Jason asked, puzzled.
The Crystal Dragon tilted her head, then nodded.
"Heavens! Alright, alright."
Utterly resigned, Jason pulled a few more Gemstones from his Pocket Ring, smeared them with the light-red gel, and fed them to her. His face was already ashen.
This Crystal Dragon had only been born a short time ago—just a dozen or so days and nights. Yet, her appetite seemed to increase almost daily. She had gone from subsisting on one or two Gemstones for several days at a time to needing a meal every two or three days, with each meal requiring Gemstones equivalent to the size of two fists. It was foreseeable that as her body grew larger, her appetite would become truly terrifying.
Thinking this, everyone looked at Jason’s ashen face and couldn’t help but feel a surge of sympathy. Most of Jason’s future wealth would likely be funneled into the Crystal Dragon’s stomach.
Juanlu patted Jason’s shoulder and consoled him, "Don’t worry. Luckily, we’re quite efficient at Treasure hunting."
