Truth Of The Forgotten Age-7-11: Hunt I
Aviris had already left for her targets, leaving the rest of the group to travel to the first encampment. Of course, Veronica's curiosity was getting to her.
"So... what are Spirits like for Elves?"
"Spirits? Ah, you mean those things that allow you to... what's the saying? Level up? That's a human thing." Shaerrill answered, keeping her head on a swivel.
That answer surprised the group. Veronica and Cassidy were shocked due to simply new information. Arachne was shocked due to belief. And Marriott was... less shocked and more smug.
"Huh. So humans have it. Interesting." Lilith said, following the group without being seen. "It didn't exist in my time, so I was curious."
This lead to Veronica thinking up other things.
'Spirits are relatively new then, and humans are the only ones who have access to it. Hm... I feel like this has something to do with Amaranth.'
"Definitely." Lilith agreed, staring at the Elf. "She looks oddly familiar... where I have I seen her before?"
Veronica took a while to think about how to word her next question.
"Can you tell us the history of Elves? I've been curious about your people for years, but information is rather limited." Veronica asked.
"Where do I start? Us Elves have existed since long before humanity's birth. However, the sages have spoken of a series decline in our population a few thousand years ago. We were going extinct. Then, an Elven girl had given birth to many, many Elves. Given her age, it was suspected as rape. Though, many records have been lost over time. Either way, her becoming a mother singlehandedly saved the Elves. So, we call her the All-Mother. All Elves, in some way shape or form, have inherited traits from her. I seem to have inherited her appearance."
The history lesson seemed to open Lilith's eyes. That Elf girl way back when, she had gotten her pregnant. And accidentally saved the Elven race.
"Well that is certainly a.... colorful history." Cassidy said, clearing her throat.
"Very. I have always wondered how true it was. Though, parts certainly seem true. Most of us do look relatively similar."
"All Elves look the same. Only differences I've seen is a living one and a dead one." Marriott uttered under her breath.
"I can say the same about humans, though I would be lying. The blonde one is rather beautiful." Shaerill admitted without batting an eye, still focused on guiding them. Her compliment made Veronica blush a bit.
It also made Veronica have a thought on trying to bring her in to the harem. Though, it would be a bit difficult.
"We're always looking for new members for Ver's harem! Though, I think you'll also need Avi and Elly's approval." Cassidy blurted out.
"Cass!" Veronica shouted, filled with embarrasment.
"It's true though. We want to try a get you as big of a harem as possible."
"Alright, quiet now. We're getting close." Shaerrill said, crounching down and sneaking through the brush.
She was right, the encampment was close. They could see the smoke from a campfire.
Cassidy had started to shake, knowing what is about to happen. Same with Veronica. So, Veronica to Cassidy's hand and looked into her eyes.
"It'll be alright. Remember, they're trying to start a war and get innocent people involved. And I doubt they would try and spare us. We need to... to close off our hearts. Take a deep breath." Veronica said trying to help both Cassidy and herself get ready for a battle that will have deaths.
"I know. I know. It's just... I'm scared."
"Me too. But we'll make it out of this just fine."
Cassidy nodded and embraced Veronica. Veronica returned the embrace, and even shared a short kiss with the shaking girl.
Then, they prepared for battle, keeping their weapons ready.
