Chapter 113

Truth Of The Forgotten Age-7-21: Vassalage II

The ball room was utterly filled with nobles from all over the kingdom. Duke there, Marchioness here, and plenty of Barons and Vicounts scattered about. And commoner Veronica of a backwater village was one of the stars if the event.
She shook nervously, afraid that any wrong move may bring execution to herself, friends or family. But that wouldn't happen, right? Though, she quickly felt a pat on her back.
"It's alright, Ver. I'm freaking out too." Cassidy said with a confident, twitching smile.
Veronica didn't say a word, Cassidy was the only thing she saw. Her dress made her look way too good. Like if she were some kind of princess from a fantasy book. Absolutely radiant.
"Ver?"
"Oh, uh, s-sorry. You just... look really beautiful."
Veronica's words stunned Cassidy, making the girl blush and stutter, not able to get any words out.
"You really should tell her. You know it's mutual, anyways." Lilith stated.
Veronica nodded, but was unsure. She was scared to commit. She was scared that their relationship would change to the point where the slightest mistake would split the two of them apart forever.
"Veronica, Cassidy. It's a pleasure to see you here." Sable's familiar voice welcomed them.
"Sable! What are you doing here?" Veronica asked, surprised at the sight of her upperclassman.
"Well, I am the daughter of a Duke. So naturally, my family and I were invited. And, you both look very beautiful." Sable said, with a gentle smile that comes with being nobility.
"Are the others here?" Cassidy wondered, scanning the room for them.
"While they were invited to come along, they already had other things they needed to attend to. Kazue said something about children and presents. Sirtia had to visit an apprentice necromancer for a regular checkup. And Seraph went to visit her mother's grave. So, I was the only one to make it. Oh, I think Tisha is here as well. Which is a surprise considering she seems close to labor."
That last sentence embarrassed Veronica. After all, she know had various people, some of which were influential, in the room, of whom she has already had sex with in some way.
But, after a short while of conversation, she noticed a couple of familiar faces. The two were looking around for someone.
Veronica sprang forward and embraced one of them.
"Mom! Dad!" Veronica exclaimed, on the verge of crying.
"Veronica! My dear, you've grown so much in so little time." Veronica's mother said, tightly embracing her daughter.
"My girl, how are you?" Her dad asked, joining the hug.
"A lot of things happened. Way too many things. All too quick. But, I'm..." Veronica started, but she couldn't tell if she was good or not. "I don't really know. I've so many ups and downs, it's hard to tell."
"So much must've happened." Her mom gently spoke, stroking Veronica's head.
Lilith looked over the two, and she was in awe herself.
"Your mother is pretty hot."
"I'm not going to do my mom. That's just weird."
"I never said you should."
Though, Lilith was right. Veronica's mom was a very beautiful woman with and very curvy and voluptuous body. For being in her forties, she still looked like a mid twenty year old woman. If Veronica wasn't related to her, she probably would try something with her.
That wasn't too say that the thought of it never crossed Veronica's mind. She has had thoughts of it, multiple times, but her own morals were stronger.
"Uncle! Auntie!" Cassidy exclaimed after chasing Veronica.
The four had a very heart warming hug. Even a few of the noble onlookers had a wholesome smile on their face, even for these commoners.
"What are you two doing here? I thought only nobles and guests of honor were supposed to be here?" Cassidy asked, trying to figure out why her future in-laws were at the banquet.
"Well, we were certainly surprised when a carriage with the royal family's emblem stopped in front of our house. Apparently the Queen had requested that we show up as guests of honor as well. What did you girls do for this to happen?"
"Well... long story short, we may have prevented a war from breaking out."
The parent's just silently looked in disbelief. A war? Their daughter and her best friend stopped a war from happening? It's only been a few months and they've done something like that?
On the other hand, one thing going through Veronica's mind was if she should tell them that they're grandparents now. They're very understanding, so it shouldn't be a problem, right?
"Mom, dad. I have something important to tell you."
"What is it, sweetheart?"
"You're gran-"
"Introducing Her Royal Majesty, Queen Priscilla dey Montague. Her Highness, Crown Princess Celia dey Montague. And Her Highness Eleanora dey Montague!" The imperial guard had exclaimed, gathering everyone's attention.
Veronica was going to have to wait a bit to tell her parents. At the moment, even more important things are happening.
