Chapter 399: And The Truth, Bleak As A Bee
[KAWAI]
Tamiko had seen his fair share of crazies.
Hell, he was crazy himself.
He had known for a fact that everything he did in life was not just for him. So when his Erasthai, the love of his life, the man he would flatten Kawai for, chose a target, Tamiko did the funniest thing ever; he let it happen.
He didn’t stop.
He didn’t try to maintain peace or some weird shit about a love that couldn’t be tainted. Tamiko had long cast a spell on Sanji, one that made sure the man was more powerful and couldn’t be put down.
It was a punishment spell that made sure that, regardless of how many times Sanjiro died, he would always, always come back. And it was crazy, because a part of Kosta had always known that, yet he still slapped Sanji’s head off like it was nothing.
And Tamiko...
He didn’t object.
He didn’t keep his end of the bargain by making sure Sanji was to come back. It would have been crazy because at that moment, Kosta had made the decision by hand.
No one had pressured him into it.
No one had tried to reason with him.
Hell, even Sanji himself had been sure that the night would end well.
And when Kosta did what he did, and the head went rolling at a speed of hundreds of miles per hour across the garden, everything came to a standstill despite the screams and shouts of shock.
"What?" Kosta mumbled to himself as he looked at the body that was spurting blood, hit the ground, and was reduced to nothingness. It was as if the impossible had happened.
Yet in the near distance was a proud Erasthai. A man who had sworn to support whatever kinds of shit that Kosta did, a man who had sworn his life into making Kosta’s easier, and right now, he had just done that in the craziest of ways.
He had made the impossible possible, and gods, was it the hottest thing that anyone could have done for Kosta.
"Anything for you, my beautiful princess," Tamiko said with pride before he walked away from the gathering, like this was the only thing that he had come for.
He didn’t give Kosta the time to process and understand what had just happened. He didn’t give the Lycan Chief a chance to say anything or thank him for making the craziest if shit happen. Instead, he just disappeared.
"Everyone, you can go now, unless you would want to be part of the endless bodies that might be dropped tonight ever so casually," Danny, the Lycan Lord assigned to Tamiko, said, and, in that moment, the Lycans didn’t wait.
Even as Kosta slumped back into his seat, shock written all over his face like he had just done the one that he hadn’t thought was possible
Maybe he was losing his goddamn mind.
Or maybe it was in the way that Tamiko had called him a beautiful princess that was messing with his mind. It was so casual you would think that ten years of sorrow hadn’t created a wedge between them; this was not understandable.
But then, when it came to the Hinatas, everything was impossible and possible at the same time. The only thought that mattered was what could happen later on. And even that was a mystery to the Giants themselves.
"You can go home now, Kostantin. You earned it after waiting for so long. I hope you know that there is always going to be an empty table at the Hinata family table for you. Always," King Zaffuto said so calmly.
Kosta just nodded.
He didn’t know what else to say, even as the crowd shifted away. What to make of all this because the life he had chosen had never been this turbulent.
But maybe he was just a person who was what he had wanted of himself years ago, but why the fuck was it so damn unsettling then? Who the fuck was to tell what was right and wrong for him then?
"Home, what a joke," Kosta scoffed to himself once everyone had left, and it was just him, sitting lonely under the moonlight with so many thoughts ringing in his mind.
He didn’t know how to go about this, and for the first time, he wanted to sleep in the palace, or sleep at the borders, or go back home, and had insisted on leaving for tonight.
It was crazy what he had chosen, yet now it all seemed like none of them was ever going to be like him anymore.
He had once had a home, a home that never ran out, a home that never shattered him, a home that never made him feel like he was a burden. He had been home. And that home had come with good morning kisses.
Random kisses during the day, like the honeymoon phase, were never getting over. That home had come with the kind of warmth that no amount of blankets and fur would make him feel.
The home that always came with the comfort of lavender, like love and life, was all about that special home. It was the one that he had always wanted to go back to.
But the Yilena had happened.
And Tamiko, the one he had been so sure would fight for him, for them, had bailed.
"Fuck," Kosta sighed as he tried to think of his options and where the names would even reveal land in the right way.
On one end was his guardian.
The woman who had always donated the beets for him from the months each had been entrusted by his sister. The woman who had only ever looked after him like he were her son.
That woman had given up everything for him.
She was a princess of Kawai, a woman who was loved so much by the crazy Hinata families, and yet the woman who had made the choice to live in the eyeshadow protecting Kosta like that was a promise that had to be kept.
That was a different kind of love.
A love so special.
On some days, Kosta understood why Yilena had done it, maybe because she had been afraid that being close to the prince would break his little heart, but on other days, Kosta was angry with Yilena so much.
He was angry because the woman had no right to meddle that much in their lives.
She had no right to be the one who made them hurt so badly. And the worst bit of it was the woman who had told him that Hinatas only ever fell in love once, and that Tamiko had fallen in love with him.
Well, that was before she had dropped the worst bomb on him for their relationship.
On the other end was Tamiko.
The man who had braced everything and trusted Kosta. Who had crossed over into Kawai, not because his father was her kind and needed him on this side, but because of Kosta.
The man who had defied everything to stay beside Kosta. Who had proven time and again that he loved Igor Konstantin unconditionally. Everything was just so suffocating.
Kosta felt like he was going crazy because once everything was done, he was just a loner in the kingdom again; he had no one, and he couldn’t blame anyone for it.
"Hello, Chief, Prince Kaito prepared this for you himself."
