Chapter 427: I Don’t Mind Being Your Bed Warmer
[TAMIKO]
"I like it," Kosta said, and Tamiko stared at him like he wasn’t sure what the Lycan chief was talking about at the moment. Perhaps if he feigned ignorance for enough time, it would earn him a spot inside his Erasthai, no?
"Being called your husband... I love it when everyone knows you’re mine and they can’t ever have you, even in their wildest dreams," Kosta added, like he had heard something that Tamiko hadn’t heard yet.
And Tamiko, like the hopeless lover he was to Kosta, just stared at the Lycans’ chief like the sun was coming for Kosta’s gaze and voice. It was almost like the prince was enchanted, and he didn’t even want to change where he was at the moment.
Then again, he didn’t mind being what the fuck Kosta wanted him to be.
"You keep me safe and warm. That’s honestly all that’s ever mattered," Tamiko said, and Kosta raised a brow at his Erasthai. Surely this man didn’t say what he was thinking, right?
"Did you just call me a bed warmer, my love?" Kosta asked, much to the agony of everyone around them.
This was not heartwarming anymore.
If they weren’t careful, it wasn’t the blade of the psychos that would end them. It would be their sickeningly sweet moment while surrounded by the dead that would ruin more lives.
The king, on the other hand, just watched in awe even as his son and son-in-law made everyone uncomfortable.
He watched as the other Lycan warriors had steered clear of saying anything, probably because they had also missed the tender moment between the barbarian and the prince from hell.
Because it was those moments that distracted everyone and made the kingdom at least habitable for them all.
"I don’t mind being your bed warmer, princess," Tamiko said earnestly, fluttering his eyelashes like that was all he needed to have Kosta under his control.
Well, he wasn’t wrong because the entire battlefield saw the Lycan chief go soft for Tamiko, again.
The most interesting yet haunting bit was the fact that even with the knowledge of what they had seen on here, they couldn’t try shit with this couple. They were doomed if they tried anyway.
"C’mere," Kosta said.
Tamiko didn’t hesitate to lean into Kostas’s arms like he belonged there for a long time.
For a moment, as the king watched the two, he couldn’t help but feel differently. His jaw was tight, and his heart ached for his son. For the love he had always prayed his son would get.
He had watched his sin rise for the ashes for the longest time.
He watched as his son had bowed to Kosta, his devotion unmatched, like that was where he belonged. The father watched his son choose Kosta without a doubt, like that was all that his kid ever needed.
And it was heartwarming and heart-wrenching at the same time because the king knew that Kosta could decide his son’s fate, and he couldn’t do too much about it, not without triggering his son.
Gods, the mad king hoped that Kosta’s love wasn’t the kind that was wrongly consumed, because the king wouldn’t allow it, even if it ended up with his son never talking to him again.
He just hoped that that wasn’t something he would have to face because he really would do it without any regrets.
He wasn’t ready to lose his son for the third time, and it didn’t matter who was on the other end of that darn blade because he would make sure he had the last laugh either way, however sorrowful it got for him as a father and worse, a king of the beasts.
"My precious little boy, my light... My heart," the king whispered brokenly to himself as he watched Tamiko lean into Kosta’s arms. He didn’t need to say anything at this point because he could see and hear it all.
Every breath, every heartbeat, every glance from his son and his Erasthai was speaking volumes. It was more than the king could deny, and he knew he was damned if he fucked with that particular bond.
Of course, that wasn’t his wish, but life was not to be trusted either way. So, the king Jay watched, like this was all that mattered. Anyone would think that he had forgotten about his rage that was aimed at Alpha Ashton Grealor.
But he didn’t forget that he never would. He was only letting himself lean into the affection his son was receiving — the only good thing on this battlefield anyway.
"You’re mine, Tamiko. Mine to love. Mine to hold. I won’t let you go, not today, not ever. I’ll never leave your side," Kosta said.
Tamiko believed him even as he watched Kosta’s eyes softening and his voice filled with so much love. A love that was so protective and raw that it seemed to push everything aside, including the very air that they needed to survive.
But would that ever matter now?
Here in this warring field, as he cupped Tamiko’s face gently and rested his forehead against Tamiko’s?
Would it?
"You’re the only person I ever wanted to belong to completely. Body, mind, and soul, Kosta. That’s all I’ve ever wanted. You’re every answered prayer, and you gave me more than I ever dreamt of. Even my papa.
"I love you to infinity, husband," Tamiko whispered, like this was all he truly needed for his life to be whatever the fuck it wanted to be.
And he had no regrets about it.
He loved the man before him, and it didn’t matter if it had been ten years or a hundred.
He was the only omega that mattered here and always.
"Mine," Kosta breathed.
"Yours, always," Tamiko said, leaning into Kosta even more when he noticed a movement at the corner of his eye.
The crown prince wasn’t worried about anything.
Not his safety, not his Kosta’s safety, but he noticed the way the bitter wolf in the distance seemed.
Hell, Tamiko had heard what Gabe had said earlier, and he was waiting to see if the bastard would try to make peace with all that. Maybe it was a long shot, seeing as the man had brought an entire army to make sure Kosta and Tamiko were separated.
It was a dumb trial, but one that was not surprising now that it came from Gabriel Grealor.
Tamiko noticed the way Gabe had curled his fists and how much he seemed to despise every little show of affection between the toe love birds he had clearly dialed to separate.
It was haunting for him.
It was a sight that got him reeking with jealousy and spite that couldn’t even be tabled once.
Perhaps that was all he had left after everything.
"I won’t let anyone have you. Not as long as I live," Gabe swore, and Tamiko and Kosta heard him. Because the crazy duo looked at themselves, shared a look, and then burst out laughing as they leaned into each other, the battle was forgotten... almost anyway.
"You have your work cut out, husband," Tamiko said sheepishly, but beneath his cheery voice was the danger that only the Lycans of Kawai understood.
The prince didn’t care what happened to him, but if something happened to Kosta, Kawai would burn... and the realm too.
That was not negotiable at this point.
"I’ll never let him touch you. Never again."
