What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company?-Chapter 745: Talavee Station

Chapter 745

Chapter 745: Talavee Station
"Once your ship is tethered, the boarding ship will arrive in ten minutes. Make sure that everyone who is disembarking is ready by then. The boarding ship will only wait for a minute before it returns back to the station."
I swiped the screen away, ignoring the mechanical voice that has been repeating the same message every two minutes.
I’ve learned that there were so many ships here that they were unable to let every ship dock with the station because of how popular the exhibition was.
Their solution was therefore to have visiting ships ’tethered’ to the station using tractor beams and sending out boarding ships to dock with visiting ships and bring the visitors to the station instead.
That’s why all of us were waiting in the cargo bay for the boarding ship to reach our ship so that we could get to the station.
"It’s good that we got here early. I heard that if you were to arrive later, you might need to wait more than a day before there’s an available boarding ship to get you to the station," Mara commented.
Well... I can believe it considering how many ships there already are orbiting the station. We still have a few more days before the exhibition actually starts so we were definitely early. No doubt more people will arrive when it’s closer to the date of the exhibition.
This wasn’t just unique to this station either as other stations and even planets that have incredibly high ship traffic would also adopt this kind of system.
"Boarding ship is approaching. Please be ready to board," The mechanical voice spoke again from the screen.
All of us turned towards the door and I got another notification indicating that a ship was docking with the Iridescence.
The doors cycled open and a rather haggard looking guy dressed in smart clothes appeared.
"Hey. Ready to board?" He asked.
I’m guessing he’s a staff that is meant to help people coordinate the boarding of the ship.
I nodded, "We’re ready."
"Come aboard then. You’re the last ship before we head to the station."
We followed him into the boarding ship, finding ourselves in a pretty large hall where quite a lot of people were also squeezed into, presumably the other travellers from the other ships.
The ship undocked from ours and we sped off towards the station while my girls and I found a spot for us to stand and wait for the ship to reach the station.
Taking the chance to look around at the others that were in the ship with us, I couldn’t help but feel a little worried at our companions.
"Erm... Do they screen the people before they let them on board this ship?" I asked.
The girls followed my gaze to see me looking at several people that were keeping to the corner of the hall.
A few of them were wearing robes that covered them from head to toe, looking especially suspicious as they gathered in a circle to whisper amongst themselves.
Another group were busy checking their weapons which included some especially heavy ordnance which was odd to bring on board a station.
Right behind that particular group was some guy with frazzled hair and he seemed to be muttering to himself while biting at his nails like some kind of madman.
And then... There’s a couple that was literally having sex right in the corner... Well... I guess that’s still normal-ish...
But the trio of guys that were openly masturbating to them doing it was definitely quite weird.
What the fuck is going on there?
Amber turned back to me, "Oh come on Tera. Surely they aren’t the weirdest people you’ve seen so far?"
I grimaced, "True enough but... I was expecting things to be better now that we are closer to the Inner Colonies."
Amber chuckled, "Believe it or not, the weirdest people are actually around here. When I say weird, I mean in terms of mannerism and their common sense."
"What do you mean? Shouldn’t the people closest to the Inner Colonies be more civilised?"
Mara shook her head, "That’s not the case, Captain. The closer you get to the Inner Colonies while still inside the Outer Colonies, the more eccentric the people. If you want the less crazy and more practical people, you would need to head towards the far reaches in the Outer Colonies."
"Why is that?"
"Because the people who have been cast out from the Inner Colonies for various reasons would congregate here as they cling to their past. Most of them would go insane trying to pretend like they were never cast out and try to live a life acting like they were still Inner Colonists."
Ah... Ok... I can see that happening I guess?
Amber added, "Then the ones who were already born in the Outer Colonies would try to emulate them thinking that this is how Inner Colonists usually act to try and make themselves feel above the others like they are some kind of special existence. So you have the crazy people trying to pretend like they are normal and then you have the normal people trying to act like they are crazy."
Great... So basically we’re in the area where all the eccentric people are gathered...
Maybe those people with the big guns over there have the right idea...
As I was thinking if I should just walk around while wearing Power Armour, the ship landed and the door at the end of the hall opened up before a ramp lowered into the station’s hangar.
The same mechanical voice I had been hearing started telling everyone to disembark so we followed the crowd to head towards the door.
There was, of course, a security checkpoint that everyone had to go through but it was all just standard procedure and we were even allowed to bring weapons in.
The only difference was that the checkpoint was way more heavily guarded than I was used to but I guess they ramped up the security because of the exhibition.
I’m more surprised that nothing happened with this particular group and everyone managed to pass through the checkpoint without any problems.
We’re now officially inside the station~
"Let’s see... First things first I guess. We should look for a place to stay, right?" I asked.
Mara raised her hand, "Already done, Captain. I have booked a place for us to stay that is also near the exhibition. It was a little pricey however, I hope you don’t mind?"
"Is it as pricey as the vacation package for the resort world below us?"
"Of course not, Captain. It’s just forty thousand Credits a night for all of us."
Forty thousand Credits? That’s ok I guess.
No wait... That’s actually pretty expensive for a hotel room...
My sense of money is really broken...
I let Mara guide us to the hotel that she booked for us and we stepped out of the hangar that was designed like an airport and out into the city limits.
The station also used its rotation to simulate gravity and the centre ring of the station was where the main city hub was located.
The station was also so big that this entire ring wasn’t just one singular city but multiple cities that were connected with roads leading in between them.
Each of these cities were also separated into different districts according to what kind of industries were present in that area as well.
I believe they designed it in this way to make it feel like the cities were on a planet’s surface instead of being within a station.
The place we were heading to was the biggest city located near the centre column of the station and we had to take their equivalent of a cab there.
Thankfully, they had big cars so we managed to squeeze ourselves into a single vehicle instead of needing to split up.
The hotel came into view as a towering black building with a sleek design that towered over all the buildings around it.
The front of the hotel even had a large fountain and plants growing around the exterior of the entrance.
The fact that they even planted these plants was a clear sign that this place was really luxurious.
"It’s the best place in this city, Captain," Mara explained as we stepped out of the car. "And I would also say it’s worth the price."
"Well... I would hope so... Considering how much we’re spending a night..."
"Worry not, Captain. They are one of the..."
Mara suddenly stopped talking and hid behind me, surprising me with the unexpected action.
"Mara? What’s wrong?"
She held my arm tightly before nodding towards my front.
I turned back just in time to see a group of people walking into the hotel.
No... Not walking... Levitating into the hotel.
And by chance, I also managed to catch sight of the person at the back of the group which made me realise who they were.
That was Desmond... Mara’s brother.
Which means... Those people were her family members...
