What's Wrong With Being An Omega Nanny?-Chapter 132: Viktor Can Help, Right?

Chapter 132

Chapter 132: Viktor Can Help, Right?
Upstairs, Viktor moved quietly through the hallway, the carpet muffling his steps. He pushed open the door to the kids’ room. The space was warm and inviting, with toy cars scattered on the floor and posters of superheroes on the walls.
The twins were asleep in their bunk beds, their small chests rising and falling in rhythm. One had kicked off his blanket, exposing his pyjama-clad legs to the chill in the air. Viktor stepped over, adjusting the duvet carefully, tucking it around them snugly. It was cold outside, the winter wind whistling faintly against the window. He flipped on the heater in the corner, setting it to a low hum that would keep the room cosy without waking them. Watching them for a moment, he felt a rare sense of peace amid the chaos of his life.
"Sleep tight, little ones," he murmured softly before slipping out and closing the door.
Next, he headed to Elias’s room, knocking lightly before entering. The room was simple... a double bed with a soft comforter, a desk cluttered with books and a laptop, and a window with curtains drawn against the night. Elias was asleep, curled up under the duvet like a cat seeking warmth. His hands were folded under his cheek, his breathing slow and even. He looked so innocent, so peaceful, that Viktor couldn’t help but pause in the doorway, just taking it in.
Viktor approached the bed quietly, stretching out a hand to gently push a stray lock of hair from Elias’s face. Elias flinched slightly in his sleep, shifting his body and turning to the other side. The duvet slipped down a bit, exposing his shoulder. Viktor pulled it back up, covering him properly, and leaned down to plant a soft kiss on his forehead. He lingered there, whispering to himself more than anything.
"I wouldn’t do anything to betray you, Elias. I love you with all my heart. I’d lay down my life for you without a second thought. So why would I cheat on the one person who means everything to me?"
He sat on the edge of the bed for a minute, his mind replaying the recent arguments... the lipstick stain, the misunderstandings.
"You’ve been through so much, and I just want to protect you. From everyone, including myself if I have to. But I swear, nothing happened. You’re it for me." He said a bunch more things, pouring out his feelings in the quiet room... how Elias’s smile and angry pouts lit up his days, how the thought of losing him terrified him more than any enemy. Finally, he stood, giving Elias one last look before leaving the room.
As soon as the door clicked shut, Elias’s eyes fluttered open. He bit his finger gently, his cheeks flushing a deep red. He couldn’t believe Viktor had said all those things... thinking he was asleep, pouring out his heart like that. It made his chest tighten with warmth.
"Maybe I should trust him," Elias whispered to himself, rolling onto his back and staring at the ceiling. "He’s never given me a real reason not to. That lipstick... it could have been nothing." But doubts lingered, though softer now.
He reached for his phone on the nightstand, checking the time. It was getting late, but a few notifications caught his eye... messages from Nathan. He’d been ignoring them for days, determined to distance himself since choosing to be with Viktor. Nathan was persistent, though, and Elias told himself he’d just glance at them and delete. No harm in that. He opened the chat, his brow furrowing as he read.
The first message read...
Nathan:
Do you know who Jace Voss is?
Nathan:
Are you close to him? If you are, I’ll regret not killing him a few hours ago.
Elias’s eyes widened in shock, his heart skipping a beat.
’Killing Jace? What was Nathan talking about?’
Panic surged through him as he typed back quickly.
Elias:
Don’t touch Jace! He has nothing to do with me. What’s your problem? Why are you so concerned about who I’m close to?
Nathan’s reply came almost instantly.
Nathan:
Why are you replying now, just because I mentioned Jace? I knew it. I should have killed him when he said your name.
Elias sighed heavily, running his fingers through his hair in frustration.
"Why is Nathan suddenly obsessed with me?" he muttered aloud, pacing the small room now. "I didn’t do anything to deserve this. We were just... acquaintances, maybe friends at best. This possessiveness... It’s scary."
He sat back down, debating whether to respond. Finally, he sent one last message.
Elias:
If you keep doing this, I’ll stay away from you forever. Stop threatening people.
Nathan’s response was a laughing emoji, followed by...
Nathan:
If you stay away from me, you’ll never find out the truth. The truth about your parents’ death.
Elias froze, his phone slipping slightly in his hand. His parents’ death. The words hit like a punch to the gut. He had always suspected it wasn’t just an accident... too many loose ends, too many questions unanswered. And now Nathan claimed to know the truth? His mind raced, heart pounding.
’What does Nathan know? Was it connected to everything else going on?’
He stared at the screen, the message blurring as his thoughts spiralled. It left him in a state of tense suspense. He really wanted to know the truth. He wanted to know everything, and the only person who could help him was Nathan. He bit his lips hard and stared at his phone.
Elias:
I’m sure you’re not going to tell me for free. What do you want?
Nathan:
Now you’re talking, my saviour. You know what I want. You don’t have to make me spell it out.
Elias groaned and left that last message unread. He dropped his phone and looked at the door. Something then dropped in his head. An idea.
’Viktor is an influential person. Instead of receiving help from Nathan and becoming his person, I’d rather ask Viktor for help. Viktor should be able to help me find my parents’ murderer. He would do anything for me... Right?’
