Chapter 135: An Emergency! 2
The room erupted in chaos after Elias yelled. Phones were already dialling while the guards shouted for help. Elias worked frantically, his hands were steady despite the fear. They were still pointing their guns at him and one mistake could cost him his life. But questions swirled in his mind:
’What exactly caused this? Was it a coincidence? Or something more? Perhaps the man was already ill due to his advanced age... I’m not just sure.’
He already heard about cases where people collapsed for one reason or another during medical classes. The guards watched him like hawks, and in the back of his thoughts, Elias wondered if he’d just stepped into something far bigger than a cooking video.
Only if he had rejected the tour then, maybe he wouldn’t have found himself in this mess.
"Where the hell is the doctor?!!!!" One of the men yelled.
"Shhh! Keep it low!" Elias whispered to him in his loudest whispering voice. He didn’t know how he managed to warn a man with a gun, but his body just told him to.
"Ah... I apologise!" The man replied with a small bow.
Elias smirked.
’They must be nice people. They are just worried about this old man. Since he’s the famous grandpa Bianca couldn’t stop talking about, does that mean he’s the...’
Elias paused and shook the thought off his head.
"No... It can’t be. There’s no way I’m touching the Corleone master."
.
Back in the kitchen, Vera and Vale were finishing the setup, the servants helping arrange lights and props.
"Is this angle good?" Vera asked, adjusting a camera.
Vale nodded. "Yeah, it’s better than before. Now, where’s Elias? He’s been gone too long."
One of the servants paused. "Miss Bianca took him on a tour. He should be back soon."
Vera frowned. "Tour? That was half an hour ago."
Just then, Sofia reentered, now in a trendy apron over her gorgeous outfit. "Ready? Where’s your chef friend?"
"That’s what we’re wondering," Vale said, trying to keep her tone light. "We haven’t seen him ever since your sister took him away."
Sofia waved it off. "Bianca rarely gets attached to people. She’s probably chatting his ear off. She’ll bring him sooner or later."
But as minutes ticked by, worry grew. Vera paced around the kitchen, folding her hands.
"Something’s not right. I’m sure there’s something up. Why don’t you call your sister..."
.
Upstairs, in a private wing, Bianca changed into her shoot clothes... a cute top and skirt. She hummed to herself, thinking about Elias.
"He’s such a cute guy. An Omega, too. I wonder if Grandfather would approve of me being the head if he sees..." She laughed at the thought as she wore some perfume. She stared at her reflection one last time before heading back down.
.
.
In the study, Elias continued compressions, sweat dripping down his back. The old man’s colour wasn’t improving. Sirens wailed in the distance which was proof that help was coming. But would it be soon enough? What if his life is still in danger?
The door burst open... more guards and a doctor rushed in. "Step aside!"
Elias moved back, hands shaking. The doctor took over, assessing.
"Possible cardiac arrest. Get the defibrillator!"
As the room filled with urgency, Elias backed toward the door, heart pounding. He needed to find Vera and Vale. But one guard grabbed his arm. "You’re not going anywhere until we sort this."
"But..."
"Stay right there or I’ll shoot!" He ordered.
Elias’s eyes widened as he leaned against the wall.
’Now, I’m trapped. What now? Would anyone come for me?’
.
Down in the kitchen, Bianca finally arrived... but, she was alone. "Hey, everyone. Ready to start? I have to hurry in this tight top."
Vera spun. "Where’s Elias?"
Bianca blinked, looking around the kitchen.
"He isn’t here yet? I left him upstairs. He said he wanted to come back."
Vale’s face paled. "Upstairs? You left him alone?"
Sofia sighed. "Great, Bianca. Great. The palace is huge. He probably got lost."
Vera grabbed her phone. "We need to find him."
"Relax. He’s an adult. He can handle his shit himself. Let’s just start with the shooting..."
"We’re not starting without Elias. So just as my sister said... We need to find him," Vale frowned as she slammed her hand on one of the kitchen islands.
But before they could move, a servant burst in, out of breath.
"Emergency! The old master... he’s collapsed!"
Sofia and Bianca froze. "What? Grandpa did?"
"In the study. Some guests tried to save him."
Vera and Vale exchanged horrified looks. "Elias..."
They all rushed out, forgetting about the shoot. Up the stairs, down halls... chaos unfolding.
Vale held Vera’s hand as they slowly walked up the stairs.
"I’m getting worried. What the hell did Elias walk into? What if he’s in trouble?"
"We’ll just have to call Viktor to come and save him," Vera replied.
"Don’t you think we should call him now?" Vale asked and Vera paused.
"Let’s see what condition Elias is in first. Then, we’ll decide," Vera replied.
In the study, the doctor worked furiously as sweat dropped from his forehead. "Clear!"
The defibrillator hummed. Elias watched, praying. If the old man didn’t make it... Blame might fall on him. An outsider in a powerful family’s home. He just couldn’t imagine what would happen.
.
Soon after, the four ladies finally reached the study after navigating the twisting hallways of the palace. Their footsteps echoed on the marble floors, a mix of hurried heels and sneakers creating a chaotic rhythm.
Vera’s heart raced as she pushed forward as her mind was filled with worst-case scenarios.
"This way," Sofia directed, though her voice lacked its usual confidence. Bianca trailed behind, fiddling with her phone, her earlier excitement about the shoot now replaced by a frown.
As they approached the heavy double doors, two stern guards stepped in front of them, their hands raised in a clear stop signal.
"No entry," one barked, his voice firm and unyielding. "Family only until the situation is under control."
Vera craned her neck, trying to peer inside. Through the crack in the door, she caught a glimpse of Elias standing there, looking pale and exhausted, with a guard right beside him, gun holstered but hand resting on it threateningly. Elias’s eyes met hers for a split second, wide with relief but also fear.
"Elias!" Vera called out, her voice breaking a little.
Vale grabbed her sister’s arm, her own face drained of colour. "Oh no, look at him. That guard’s way too close and he’s holding a gun. We need to get him out of there."
The guards didn’t budge, crossing their arms. Sofia stepped up, her omega presence trying to assert some authority.
"Hey, that’s our grandfather in there. Let us through."
One guard shook his head. "It’s the doctor’s orders. No one is allowed in until he’s stable. And that kid stays put... he was the last one in the room before the master had collapsed."
Bianca huffed, crossing her arms.
"This is ridiculous. Grandpa’s tough; I’m sure he’ll be fine."
Vera turned to Bianca, her eyes narrowing with anger. "This is your fault! You took Elias on that stupid tour and left him alone. Now look what has happened. Do something... tell them to let him go!"
Bianca rolled her eyes, but there was a flicker of guilt in her expression.
"My fault? He wanted to come back on his own. How was I supposed to know he’d wander into the old man’s study?"
Sofia sighed, stepping closer to the guards.
"Come on, guys. You know us. Let the boy go... he’s just a guest for our video shoot. He didn’t do anything wrong."
The guard on the left, a burly man with a scar on his cheek, shook his head again.
"No can do, Miss Sofia. The master collapsed right as this kid was leaving the room. He’s under suspicion until we clear things up. The doctor’s checking him now."
Elias, hearing the commotion, spoke up from inside, his voice shaky but firm.
"I didn’t do anything! I got lost, pushed the door open by mistake. He told you to let me go, and then... he just fell. I tried to help!"
The guard next to him pressed the barrel of his gun lightly against Elias’s temple, not hard enough to hurt but enough to make the point.
"Keep quiet, kid. You’re not helping your case."
Elias froze, his breath catching in his throat. Sweat beaded on his forehead, and he clamped his mouth shut, eyes darting to Vera and Vale for support.
Vera’s hands balled into fists.
"This is insane! He’s innocent. Vale, should we message Viktor now? He needs to know about this."
Vale bit her lip, glancing at her phone.
"I don’t know... If we call him, he might overreact and storm in here. That could make things worse. But look at Elias... he’s terrified."
Bianca groaned, throwing her hands up.
"Ugh, fine. Let me try again." She pushed past Sofia and addressed the guards more forcefully. "Listen, if Grandpa wakes up and hears you held one of our guests at gunpoint, he’ll be pissed. Let him out... I’ll vouch for him."
The guards exchanged glances but didn’t move. "Sorry, miss. Orders are orders. Until the doctor says the Master is safe, he stays. If he’s guilty, I’ll shoot him myself."
Bianca shrugged as she turned to her sister and the Drago twins.
"See... At least, I tried my best. Let’s just hope poor Elias is not guilty..."
