After the simple celebration ended, Locke returned to the office arranged for him by the Treatment Center and briefly instructed several second-class wizard apprentices who were assigned to work with him at the treatment facility.
Since he had nothing pressing to do at the moment, and the library had already sent someone to deliver two B-level articles to his office, Locke sat down and began reading through the two B-level articles he had purchased from the library for 100 magic stones.
The Treatment Center had many potion master's assistants, so he didn't have healing tasks every day. The center had also assigned him an office that he shared with Axi and Andrew. It seemed the higher-ups intended for the three of them to form a treatment team.
Locke first examined the article about the mysterious factors of ancient creatures.
Half an hour later, Locke frowned and wrote in his notebook: "This first-class wizard apprentice believes that ancient creatures were powerful because in ancient times there was a special type of factor called [Mythical Factors] that commonly existed within these creatures' bodies. Later, these [Mythical Factors] suddenly went extinct collectively, so the ancient creatures also gave way to the ancestors of modern magical creatures."
"Therefore, the source of ancient creature bloodline power isn't because they were ancient creatures, but because they had mythical factors in their bodies. So the ancient Orcni Giant Bear bloodline within me should also contain these mythical factors."
"The author believes that [Mythical Factors] are likely related to the deities in the wizard world, which are basically equivalent to fairy tales. This world may have once truly had divine beings who left many descendants here, and those [Mythical Factors] likely came from their bloodlines..."
"The source of every ancient creature's power lies in their divine ancestors."
"This final part is baseless speculation that can't be trusted, it's also why this article nearly failed to achieve B-level rating."
"General scholars consider this mere unfounded speculation."
Locke pondered: "But regarding special factors, the archaeologist McCarthy has similar theories."
"This article's author should have been exposed to archaeology, but there aren't many archaeologists in White Wizard Association. I wonder how he gained access to such information."
"His article contains many detailed data points and case studies that should be basically impossible to obtain within White Wizard Association. Either he knew a skilled archaeologist, or... there's something questionable."
Locke keenly noticed this point, but when he looked at the article author's name, he found it was written by someone from a hundred years ago, so he could only let the matter rest. This first-class wizard apprentice seemed to have left Lilith's Cottage after becoming a formal wizard to develop elsewhere.
Whatever unknown events occurred a hundred years ago were no longer relevant to the present.
"Mythical factors..." Locke tapped the desk with his finger, constantly recalling how the two bloodlines within him had suddenly resonated during his battle with the vampire Howard.
His expression grew strange as he thought: 'I wonder if the bloodline I naturally possess is actually an ancient creature bloodline, it can certainly trigger chain reactions.'
Locke continued to the second article by the same author, which catalogued 245 types of ancient creature bloodlines. Compared to the vast number of ancient creature bloodlines, these 245 were indeed just a glimpse of the whole picture.
But the problem was that research into ancient creature bloodlines in White Wizard Association was basically a complete blank. Yet this article suddenly produced a comprehensive summary, making one truly suspicious of where he obtained such data and materials.
Moreover, it could still pass the value assessment of general knowledge magic.
Locke found records of three ancient creatures with natural primary elemental affinity for gold elements:
"The first is the Golden Griffon, which the wizard organization [Golden Dynasty] in the [Twilight Border] considers their symbol, viewing it as representing 'supreme authority.'"
"But in the [Twilight Border], no Golden Griffons survive, only some modern magical creatures possessing this ancient creature bloodline remain."
"Modern magical creatures with Golden Griffon mythical factors, such as golden toads and golden snake-people, all possess rapid recovery and partial magic immunity characteristics."
"The second is the Deep Sea Gold Mother, which still has some remnants in the Endless Mystic Sea. The [Golden Dynasty] has records of capturing this type of ancient creature sea monster in the deep ocean."
"It possesses eighteen tentacles and an enormous body. When it travels, it stirs up tsunamis and is followed by golden storms. Even formal wizards would find it troublesome to encounter."
"The last type is... the Gold Dragon." Locke frowned, this article had basically no description of Gold Dragons.
Only one sentence: [Ancient dragon species, suspected to be the pinnacle of modern magical creatures. Dragons are powerful because they have preserved large amounts of mythical factors that only exist in ancient creature bloodlines.]
Locke took notes on all this useful information and organized it. He also planned to read through this article carefully to see if he could find other special ancient creature bloodlines that might cause ancient bloodline resonance and mutations.
However, the hidden bloodline within him was most likely related to his gold elemental talent. When Witch Sophia first saw him, she had sensed something abnormal and later performed ordinary bloodline tracing tests on him, but found nothing particularly special.
This was also why Locke immediately suspected that the special bloodline in his body was an ancient creature bloodline.
"The Twilight Border is in the northeast direction, far from the southeastern quadrant. The two regions are separated by the Endless Mystic Sea, but that place seems to have extensive research into golden-attribute ancient bloodlines."
"The power levels there seem higher than here. Finding the source of the special bloodline in my body might be greatly related to finding this body's mother."
Locke retrieved his original body's mother's ring from his astral ring.
"However, this isn't urgent for now."
"Moreover, places with research materials in this field aren't necessarily limited to that location."
"It seems I still need to go to McCarthy to study archaeology."
"From the current perspective, the most reliable research method is still using archaeology to excavate the mysteries of ancient creature bloodlines." Locke's eyes flashed with interest, this could both clarify his body's condition and help find the original owner's mother.
Most importantly, he was genuinely very interested in the mythical factor hypothesis regarding ancient creature bloodlines.
Whether this hypothesis was true or not, it certainly represented some kind of powerful force.
Locke recalled how he had previously accidentally activated the special power within his body, causing a strange golden force field to surround him, seemingly a prototype of golden magic.
Perhaps he should also look for materials on golden magic, at least to gain some exposure to it.
While Locke was deep in thought, suddenly a second-class wizard apprentice knocked and entered the office, saying to Locke, Axi, and Andrew, "Three masters, please come take a look. Another person with cursed magical plants has been brought in."
"Since only you three have experience in the Treatment Center, they were prioritized to your team."
Andrew glanced at Locke and Axi, "Looks like we've been drafted."
Locke said helplessly, "I'm afraid this kind of thing won't decrease until we find a targeted solution."
"This is a competition between curse masters and us potion masters."
"You two, have you thought of any good methods this time?"
