Wizard: Starting With Synthesized Gems-Chapter 257: Distributed Thinking Psychic Energy

Chapter 257

"This potion..." Locke's expression changed. "Previously I only heard that Hive Mind Potion was a divine potion among wizards in the plant magic sub-branch of the life school, the most coveted thing."
"Even among First Circle potions, it has relatively high production difficulty and extremely high material rarity. Some materials only have stockpiles and have even become extinct. It's an extremely precious First Circle potion."
"But I didn't expect this potion's effect to be so unique."
After taking the Hive Mind Potion, Locke's entire body began to continuously break out in cold sweat. Each surge of powerful magical energy invaded his cells, strengthening his mana, even having some effect of modifying spirituality.
At the back of Locke's brain, illusory thinking nerve tendrils appeared. These thinking nerve tendrils were like dreadlocks at the back of Locke's head, constantly dancing.
Of course, these thinking nerve tendrils didn't truly exist. They were just Locke's "psychic manifestation," which would disappear when psionic energy was released.
As the Hive Mind Potion transformed part of the spirituality within Locke's soul essence, the details of the illusory thinking nerve tendrils appearing at the back of his head became increasingly realistic.
At the same time, a hallucination appeared before Locke's eyes.
In the center of an unfathomably deep and dark profound world, there was a cold black sun. Around this cold black sun were countless swarms of bees moving around it.
These underground world swarm creatures seemed to have countless consciousnesses mutually communicating. Special psychic signals flowed among these swarms.
When they needed to find food, they would release special psychic fluctuations to make the group produce more underground swarms searching for food. When they encountered enemies, they would release special psychic fluctuations representing crisis to increase the proportion of swarm warriors in the entire group.
The entire group had no individual consciousnesses, or beings that could be called intelligent but the entire group as one consciousness possessed superior intelligence. Each individual was a single neuron of this group.
And connecting each individual was this special psionic energy.
This was a distributed intelligence evolution method different from independent intelligent individuals.
Seemingly unintelligent individuals became the smallest unit of the group's brain. One group was one collective consciousness.
As the scene in the hallucination moved, Locke seemed to transform into an underground queen bee. He established a psychic consciousness connection with countless underground swarms.
In reality, sitting in the chair of his simple laboratory, numerous psychic thinking nerve tendrils had appeared at the back of Locke's brain.
These psychic thinking nerve tendrils plunged into all the magical plants Locke carried on him: Black Chain Sword Bamboo, three newly replenished Omen Mandrake Vines, Large Green Owl Banana, Crystal Palm Fire Lotus, Wire Grass Bull Sinew seeds he carried with him, Bellflower and Corrupt Soil Taro King, and the Thunderbolt Purple Potato Vine parasitizing on the Corrupt Soil Taro King.
In an instant, Locke formed a deeper and closer connection with these magical plants. These magical plants not only formed a mana grafting relationship with him and were controlled by his plant magic spell models, they also entered a distributed thinking psychic system organized with himself as the core.
In other words, he and these magical plants formed a small ecological network with the wizard as an individual.
He became the main body of this ecology, the subject of this small ecological network. The connection with these magical plants was closer. He could sense the simple emotions emanating from them and could more simply allocate the mana on these magical plants.
He could also understand through this psychic network the current state of his magical plants to assist himself in thinking about how to better cultivate them.
This provided great enhancement to his skills in the field of breeding studies.
Sitting in the laboratory chair, Locke thought, 'No wonder this potion is the dream potion for plant wizards. This potion's true main effect is that it can help me construct my own distributed psychic network.'
'And distributed psychic networks are widely seen in natural environments, commonly found in various insect swarms, flowers and trees in forests, moss and lichen systems, etc...'
'These insect groups and plant groups have all adopted distributed thinking modes in natural evolution. This is completely different from higher animals pursuing increased individual intelligence in their development.'
'Wizards, by taking Hive Mind Potion, can enhance part of their spirituality, allowing themselves to obtain one of the distributed thinking intelligences that insects and plants obtained through hundreds of millions of years of evolution—the psychic information network.'
'This can improve plant wizards' ability to understand plant magic, enhance their comprehensive strength, and has enormous benefits for my future.'
'At present, it at least enhances the direct combat ability of all my magical plants by 30%. Because I can, through the psychic network in combat, better allocate my mana and the Trent energy at my heart to the magical plants that have formed mana grafting relationships with me.'
'I'm afraid for wizards in the insect magic sub-branch of the life school, there will also be the same degree of enormous enhancement.'
'Being able to take this potion, I've really gotten a great bargain. What an unexpected joy.'
'This potion's main material seems to be the brain of a queen bee from some underground world swarm group. I just don't know which region that underground world with a cold black sun is.'
'The wizard world is too large. The current me has only seen the tip of its iceberg, still far from seeing this world's true face.'
Locke also detected that because his brain and the spiritual essence deep in his soul had produced the energy called "psionic energy," his magic pressure and mana had also been enhanced after taking the Hive Mind Potion.
Only then did Locke react. It turned out that enhancing personal mana was just an auxiliary effect of the Hive Mind Potion. Its true effect was to help wizards obtain the crystallization of hundreds of millions of years of swarm evolution, the distributed thinking psychic network.
Locke pressed his palm on the amethyst matrix. Immediately a number jumped out on the crystal ball: 780.
Locke's eyebrow twitched. "It actually increased by 30 points of mana. Unfortunately, the principle by which this potion enhances my mana is that while generating a psychic network for me, it automatically enhances mana. So if I take the second bottle of Hive Mind Potion, it won't be possible to increase much more mana."
The remaining 20 points of mana were of especially high quality.
Probably every 1 point he raised would require enormous effort or use of massive magical resources.
After all, after 800 mana, one would enter the inefficient advancement time stage. If one relied entirely on oneself to advance like past wizards, time would be wasted.
Therefore, the closer his mana was to 800, the more the difficulty and resources for raising each point would increase, while the benefits would actually be small.
This was probably also the reason modern wizards pursued using advancement potions to advance to formal wizard.
To be able to directly skip the garbage advancement time from 800 to 1000 mana.
Locke suddenly detected that the three types of ancient creature bloodlines in his body seemed to have reacted because he had produced a distributed psychic network. This psychic network in animal and plant ecology seemed to have some mysterious connection with ancient creature bloodlines.
Locke thought for a moment. Before this special linked reaction disappeared and the potion was completely digested, he suddenly used the archaeology spell Summon Tomb Spirit on himself!
The main material of the Hive Mind Potion was a queen bee of some unknown swarm in the underground world, so there might possibly exist a negative energy particle field that he could capture.
Every time he read those very profound secret knowledge hidden in the past, he could further improve his archaeology skill once.
Moreover, this was related to the problem he had been researching all along, ancient creature bloodlines. So Locke didn't miss the opportunity and directly used Summon Tomb Spirit.
'If it were an ordinary life school wizard, they probably wouldn't discover this secret. Or rather, even if they also had ancient creature bloodlines in their bodies and by chance also had the opportunity to take Hive Mind Potion, but they didn't have archaeology skills, even if they discovered something, in the end they could only give up.'
Locke thought, "I'm at the intersection of three disciplines, which is why I have these conditions."
In the simple laboratory, Locke's eyes lit up with joy. "I captured it. Sure enough, inside this potion there's also a negative energy particle field I can capture with archaeology spells!"
"This is..."
