Chapter 384

Chapter 384: Chapter 383, The World of the Wanderer _1
Ba Jie seemed to have realized something and shook his head. "It’s not what you’re thinking. My master isn’t that kind of person. Wanderers are more conservative, unlike on the Continent of All-Gods.
"On the Continent of All-Gods, if two people take a fancy to each other, they roll in the hay, and the next day they don’t recognize each other!
"It’s different in the Wanderer World. If two people there take a fancy to each other, it amounts to a lifelong commitment of love. If anyone betrays the other, it’s a huge deal—either you die, or I die. In short, betrayal is absolutely forbidden in the Wanderer World, especially between men and women. Even saying a provocative word to a married woman is seen as challenging her man’s dignity, and swords are drawn at the slightest disagreement. It’s not like on the Continent of All-Gods, where you can flirt all you want, and even sleeping together isn’t a big deal.
"On the Continent of All-Gods, so-called love is total bullshit. Take off your pants, and you’re mine. Put your pants on, and who the hell are you? I don’t know you! The Continent of All-Gods has no love, only passion."
"Maybe you don’t understand."
"No, I do understand. Love, right?"
"Well, that’s about it. In any case, if you ever go to the Wanderer World, it’s best not to flirt with anyone, especially women."
Jiang Chen rolled his eyes.
There’s something wrong with what you’re saying. Am I supposed to flirt with men instead?
Jiang Chen smiled. "I’m not that kind of person."
Ba Jie looked at Jiang Chen as if to say, "No, you *are* that kind of person. It’s totally different on the Continent of All-Gods versus the Wanderer World; even saying a single word could be taken as flirting."
Ba Jie explained, "It’s like this: if you see a beautiful woman and compliment her by saying, ’You’re so beautiful,’ that’s considered flirting. Even just looking a couple of extra times is seen as flirting. And if she has a man, it’s a battle to the death, a battle for dignity. That’s because you’ve complimented his woman. Even if it’s an unintentional mistake, he will still consider it flirting. But it’s different on the Continent of All-Gods; others would just think you’re being complimentary."
Jiang Chen joked with a smile, "I think it’s best to be blind then. That way, you can’t see what the other person looks like."
Ba Jie also laughed. "I generally keep my mouth shut and pretend to be mute!"
"You, a Hero of the Continent of All-Gods, have actually adapted to their way of life."
"There’s nothing strange about it. As long as you don’t speak up or pay compliments, you’ll be fine. No matter how beautiful someone is, don’t say anything, and don’t stare. Even if you want to look, you have to sneak a peek."
Jiang Chen was speechless. Okay, so this is the world of Wanderers. What a bizarre world.
"Actually, I’m still very pure."
Ba Jie laughed.
Jiang Chen laughed too.
Angelina rolled her eyes.
Pure my ass!
The three of them made their way through the dense forest towards the Difiled God Camp. After half an hour, they reached a cave. Ba Jie went inside to relay some instructions, then emerged and continued to lead Jiang Chen and Angelina. A group of Wanderers lived in this area. Ba Jie was taking them to a small world of Wanderers, a place where everyone was a Wanderer. It was also a place abandoned by the Continent of All-Gods and the Difiled God Camp—a godforsaken place.
They entered the Difiled God Camp, pressing on into a black mist.
Through his Perception, Jiang Chen detected a small rift hidden within a cave. Ba Jie led him and Angelina into this cave, and through it, they entered the Wanderer World.
Upon entering, Jiang Chen immediately felt a cold wind assail him. Looking up at the sky, he saw snow falling thickly.
Goodness! Is it this cold? It must be at least minus 10 degrees Celsius!
Jiang Chen couldn’t help shivering. Angelina’s Constitution, however, was very strong, so she was indifferent to the cold—such was the advantage of an enhanced Constitution.
Jiang Chen said, "Aren’t you cold?"
"Not at all. I feel quite good."
"I feel a bit cold. Give me a warm hug."
"Get lost," Angelina retorted, rolling her eyes. Teasing was one thing, but Angelina knew when to be serious. She opened her arms and pulled Jiang Chen into her embrace.
Jiang Chen was taken aback.
"Could you not be so rough?"
Ba Jie laughed. "That kind of thing would never happen here. If other Wanderers were around, they wouldn’t embrace in public like you two just did. It’s highly taboo—they’d just think you were shameless."
"Uh..." Jiang Chen wriggled out of the warm embrace.
Ba Jie casually handed Jiang Chen a piece of cold-weather clothing. Jiang Chen quickly put it on and felt much better.
Ba Jie said, "It snows every day here, making it impossible to cultivate crops. The Wanderers are mostly ordinary people, so they find it very hard to survive in these conditions."
Angelina asked, "What do they eat, then?"
"They rely on hunting. There are snow rabbits, snow pigs, and other animals in this icy snowland. They hunt for sustenance, just barely making ends meet."
Jiang Chen silently nodded. "Is this the Loyal Justice Association’s territory?"
"No, many people live here, not just the Loyal Justice Association. Other Wanderers, including members from the Floating Association, Taiyi Association, Heavenly Earth Association, and Qianren Association, are all here."
"Moreover, this isn’t the only small world of the Wanderers; there are many more."
Jiang Chen pondered.
Much like the Continent of All-Gods, the Xileruo World, Titan World, Dragon World, and Elven World all have many territories spread far and wide. The Wanderers are the same, except they settle in worlds that others don’t want. Just like this land of ice and snow. So cold it makes you shiver; only a fool would live here! In the Xileruo World, there’s fine wine, bread, and women. Isn’t that more appealing?
Jiang Chen was beginning to regret his decision.
Damn it, did I come here just to suffer? It would be better to go back to sleeping in a big, cozy bed. Even leveling up by slaying monsters would be preferable!
Ba Jie untied a wine gourd from his belt and handed it to Jiang Chen. "Take a drink. It’ll ward off the chill. Though the Wanderers don’t live well, they’re quite skilled at brewing."
Jiang Chen took it, quickly downed a swig, and felt himself warm up.
"This is good liquor."
"Let me have a sip too," Angelina said.
"I thought you weren’t cold!" Jiang Chen retorted.
"Can’t I drink if I’m not cold?"
Angelina snatched the gourd, took a gulp, and handed it back to Jiang Chen. He grabbed it and took another big swallow of the strong liquor, finally letting out a long sigh of relief.
The two of them followed Ba Jie.
They continued forward through the heavy snowfall, each step sinking them knee-deep.
Jiang Chen asked, "How much farther do we have to go?"
"Two hours."
"Two more hours? I’ll be frozen solid by then!" Jiang Chen said helplessly.
"Then we’d better move faster."
Ba Jie immediately activated his Qinggong and sped rapidly over the snow.
Jiang Chen stared, his eyes wide. Is that even possible?
Pulling Angelina along, Jiang Chen activated his Sky Flash Skill.
The Wanderers’ Qinggong utilized True Qi. Although Jiang Chen’s Flash in the Void wasn’t Qinggong, he theorized that if he was fast enough, he wouldn’t sink.
But Jiang Chen failed.
It wasn’t that he couldn’t avoid sinking; he sank.
Qinggong and Flash in the Void were entirely different.
Resigned, Jiang Chen had no choice but to deploy his Wings.
Jiang Chen wrapped his arms around Angelina. "My beauty, we’re about to fly!"
Angelina smiled. "Alright. But you’ll have homework to turn in tonight."
"Didn’t I turn it in last night?"
"It wasn’t enough."
