Chapter 448: Chapter 447, Van Lundin’s Identity is Not Simple_1
Not long after the six of them left Mediya Luna, a team of Corrupted Heroes arrived. Seeing the countless bodies on the ground, they immediately knew someone had already crossed Mediya Luna and emerged outside...
"They’ve left Mediya Luna; they must plan to use a Teleportation Scroll," one said.
"But no message was received, which means they didn’t use one and plan to walk back to the Continent of All-Gods."
"Walking? Let’s see how far they can get. Mount the Covenant Beasts immediately and track the enemy’s trail! It’s 10,000 kilometers to the Continent of All-Gods from here. They can’t fly on Giant Dragons; they won’t get far."
"We must find them, even if we have to leave no stone unturned!"
"Move out!"
「Inside a cave.」
The six of them sat on the ground. Alger, being a Magician, had created a cavity and sealed the entrance with mud, leaving only a small hole to the outside. It would be very difficult for ordinary people to notice their tracks.
Jiang Chen asked, "Why do people from the Evil God Continent want to capture you?"
Van Lundin shook his head. "I don’t know."
Alger said, "The Young Master is from the Stuart Family. The Stuart Family in the Xileruo World has dealt with the Evil God Camp for years. They’ve captured many experts from the Evil God Camp, even Divine Lady Reesley from the Evil God Continent."
"Goddess Reesley? A Son of God?"
Jiang Chen himself was a Son of God; he’d seen many and even killed some. In the Evil God Camp, there were numerous Sons of God. All descendants of the Divine were considered Sons of God—if not millions, then at least hundreds of thousands! Why make such a fuss just to capture one person? Jiang Chen couldn’t understand it.
"Reesley is indeed a Goddess, but her status is different. She’s not an ordinary Goddess but a Reincarnation of the God. They probably want to capture the Young Master to exchange him for Goddess Reesley," Alger explained.
Jiang Chen teased, "You aren’t a Reincarnation of the God too, are you?"
"Of course not," Van Lundin replied.
Jiang Chen smiled knowingly.
"We should get some rest and continue our journey tomorrow. It’s 10,000 kilometers to the Continent of All-Gods from here. At our current pace, it will take at least three months to completely leave the Evil God Continent."
One hundred kilometers a day was their limit, unless they could ride a Giant Dragon. However, the risk was too great. They didn’t want to take any chances; they were already being pursued and intercepted before even reaching the Continent of All-Gods.
Jiang Chen pulled Angelina aside.
Van Lundin glanced fleetingly at Angelina. He sensed something different about her, as if she wasn’t quite their kind.
Jiang Ling watched Van Lundin and shook his head. It was as if to say, "That’s someone else’s woman, don’t get any ideas."
Van Lundin, however, wasn’t looking at her for that reason; rather, he sensed a mysterious Strength. It was a Strength he felt he had encountered somewhere before.
Both Van Lundin and Angelina were Reincarnations of the God. Van Lundin was different, however; he didn’t have the God’s Seal within him, nor had he recovered his Divine memories. Yet he could sense Angelina’s uniqueness. If Van Lundin ever regained his Divine memories, he would realize then that Angelina possessed the God’s Seal. That was a Strength belonging to the Divine.
Jiang Chen, however, frowned deeply.
Originally, he had intended to make a deal with Van Lundin to obtain a level 200 Legendary Set. But along the way, Jiang Chen had noticed something was off, especially the way Van Lundin looked at Angelina. It wasn’t the gaze of a man looking at a woman, but rather of someone who had discovered something. As if he were pondering something! And Jiang Chen’s earlier question hadn’t been casual; it had been intentional. Jiang Chen wanted to understand why the Evil God Camp would go to such lengths to capture one person. Why seal off the entire Evil God Continent? If it was just to deal with Heroes and prevent them from obtaining the Constitution Spring Water, they could have simply sealed all of Mediya Luna. So why couldn’t Teleportation Scrolls be used even after leaving Mediya Luna? This indicated one thing: Van Lundin’s identity wasn’t that simple. Was he merely someone from the Stuart Family? Even if the Stuart Family was noble, they had plenty of descendants, didn’t they? Seal off the Continent of All-Gods for one insignificant person? That seemed too much of an exaggeration. This probing exchange gave Jiang Chen a rough idea. Capturing Van Lundin was to exchange for a Goddess, and that Goddess wasn’t a simple figure but a Reincarnation of the God. This suggested Van Lundin must also be a Reincarnation of the God. Otherwise, would the Continent of All-Gods agree to exchange an ordinary person for a Reincarnation of the God as a hostage? Unthinkable. Benefits are always exchanged on equal terms; neither side would accept a loss. All signs indicated that Van Lundin was no simple character. He had very likely discovered Angelina’s identity.
This gave Jiang Chen a headache. His original plan was to escort Van Lundin back and get the level 200 Legendary Set. But now, it seemed that plan was no longer feasible. Plans rarely keep up with reality. That’s just how it was.
As the two walked deeper into the cave, Angelina whispered in Jiang Chen’s ear, "I feel like Van Lundin is leering at me."
Jiang Chen chuckled. "Well, who can blame him when you’re so beautiful?"
Angelina rolled her eyes at him. "Oh, please! At a time like this, you’re still saying such things?"
"Alright, let’s get some sleep."
"You can actually sleep at a time like this?"
"Whatever it is, we’ll deal with it tomorrow. He won’t try anything with you. If he makes a move, I’ll kill him."
Angelina nodded. "Mm."
Jiang Chen sat down cross-legged.
Jiang Ling watched Jiang Chen, a thoughtful expression on his face.
Sitting cross-legged? That’s a unique way Wanderers sleep. This guy definitely has some connection to Wanderers.
Jiang Chen’s purpose in sitting cross-legged was to find someone.
The Incubus.
Daphne.
「In the Dream Realm...」
The usual sea, beach, and sun loungers...
Sure enough, Daphne appeared beside Jiang Chen.
Daphne was an Incubus. Once Jiang Chen fell asleep, she could use the Dreamspace to find his Dream Realm, regardless of whether Jiang Chen was on the Continent of All-Gods, the Evil God Continent, or even in another world. Daphne could always find Jiang Chen. The Dreamspace was another world entirely. All who dreamed entered this world. In the Dream World, there was no space or time, only dreams.
Daphne sat next to Jiang Chen, wearing sunglasses and a bikini. "What did you call me for?"
"To catch up."
"Don’t kid me. You’re not the sentimental type. Get straight to the point!"
"Straight to the point? Isn’t that a bit too quick?" Jiang Chen replied.
Daphne smiled. "How about this: in the Dream Realm, you become a woman, I become a man, and we... give it a try?"
What the hell? You have some seriously peculiar tastes! You might want to try it, but there’s no way I’m doing that! Jiang Chen would absolutely never mess around with Daphne in the Dream Realm. Daphne was an Incubus; she could freely transform in the Dreamspace, becoming male or female. If she suddenly turned into a man, Jiang Chen feared he’d be so enraged he’d cough up blood and die...
Every time Daphne entered Jiang Chen’s Dream Realm, they would just chat. That’s right, just chatting—perfectly normal conversation. Nothing risqué.
Jiang Chen coughed. "Let’s stick to business, shall we?"
"Hehe... What are you afraid of? It’s not like I’m going to eat you," Daphne laughed.
She found Jiang Chen quite amusing. She always wanted to make Jiang Chen try that particular sensation. The sensation of being pinned down by someone else.
Jiang Chen shot her a look.
What am I afraid of? You know damn well.
