Chapter 465: Chapter 464, The Strong Attack of the Master, Earth Element Mage_1
The disparity in levels, the gap in equipment. This was an insurmountable difference.
Jiang Chen’s strength had surged. However, faced with an eighth-stage expert—someone over Level 400—he still stood no chance. Moreover, Scryps was not an ordinary eighth-stage Magic Swordsman but a City Lord.
Jiang Chen sensed Scryps’s figure continuously flickering, using Mage Teleportation to move instantaneously.
The only saving grace was the limited range of the teleportation.
After leaving the city, Jiang Chen and Angelina quickly fled toward the Continent of All-Gods.
Angelina looked back at the figure behind them. "What should we do? That expert is still following us."
"No worries," Jiang Chen said. "He can’t catch up to my speed. Although he has Mage Teleportation, it’s meant for escaping battle, not for long-distance travel. I can sense where he will teleport, so don’t worry. The only concern is if we encounter more experts ahead."
One opponent wouldn’t be too bad, but two or three would be very troublesome.
Scryps watched Jiang Chen’s escape route, which led directly toward Boli City. And its City Lord, Smollet, was an acquaintance of his.
Scryps mounted the Black Dragon and contacted the City Lord of Boli City.
Angelina looked back. "It seems like he has given up."
Jiang Chen watched the Black Dragon soaring in the sky.
Is this giving up? This is clearly a preparation to call in experts for an ambush! Good grief. One isn’t enough, so they’re sending another? This clearly signaled their intention to annihilate him completely.
Jiang Chen didn’t dare linger any longer. Grasping Angelina’s hand, he sped off quickly.
After this escape, he resolved, he must increase his Level as quickly as possible. He needed to be wearing at least Level 250 Legendary Equipment to even stand a chance against an eighth-stage expert.
"Scryps, you can’t even handle one Hero?" Smollet’s voice came through their communication.
"The Swordsman is very fast," Scryps replied. "I need your help to kill him. He has a Divine Crystal inside him."
"Is that so?" Smollet mused. "Then I shall reluctantly take it for you. A mere Swordsman—he shouldn’t even dream of escaping back to the Continent of All-Gods."
"Just don’t let him get away," Scryps urged.
"As if it’s that easy to run," Smollet retorted.
Scryps watched Jiang Chen speed away toward Boli City and immediately contacted City Lord Smollet, preparing to intercept the two on their path forward.
Jiang Chen looked back at Scryps pursuing them, his speed neither fast nor slow. He immediately felt a bad premonition.
Scryps wasn’t attacking, merely following from a distance; he was obviously calling for backup. Jiang Chen didn’t know who Scryps was contacting, but he was certain it had to be an eighth-stage expert.
「Boli City.」
Smollet had gathered a large number of seventh-stage experts.
"What? A Hero from the Continent of All-Gods has come to our territory?"
"Have the Heroes from the Continent of All-Gods all become so arrogant, daring to venture alone deep into our faction’s territory?"
"You’d be surprised. That Swordsman is quite strong; he fought his way from Mediya Luna to Boli City—a distance of 7,000 kilometers."
"It seems he wants to use Boli City to return to the Continent of All-Gods."
"Since when has My Evil God Continent allowed a single person to act so rampantly?"
Smollet announced, "Everyone, be on your guard. Don’t underestimate that Swordsman. I’ve looked into him, and he’s no simple character. He once slaughtered a million of our troops, has an illustrious military record, and is a high-priority target on our wanted list."
"That’s not even the most crucial part," he continued. "The most important thing is that this fellow has consumed a Divine Crystal. He possesses a trace of Divine power, and we absolutely cannot let him escape back to the Continent of All-Gods."
"Even Prosecutor Wobor died at his hands. Wobor was Level 300 and equipped with a Legendary Set. So, you cannot afford to be careless."
Upon hearing Smollet’s words, no one present dared to be negligent.
Prosecutor Wobor, equipped with Level 300 Legendary Set gear—even someone like him had died.
Is that Swordsman truly so terrifying?
At that moment, Jiang Chen gazed into the distance, where a large number of adult Giant Dragons were circling in the air, waiting for him and Angelina. Jiang Chen’s brow furrowed deeply; sure enough, there were people ahead blocking the way. They all appeared to be experts above the Sixth-stage.
A formidable enemy ahead and pursuers behind. What the hell are we supposed to do now?
At this moment, Smollet was flying in the sky with his people and also spotted Jiang Chen and Angelina.
"Their speed is indeed fast," he remarked. "No wonder Scryps can’t catch up."
Smollet grasped the Scepter in his right hand and began to chant a spell.
Jiang Chen’s face was full of confusion.
Casting magic from such a great distance? Is this a long-range attack? But this is way too far!
At that moment, the ground began to change. The originally flat road started to twist, and countless thorns sprouted from the ground. The thorns grew rapidly, reaching at least dozens of meters in height. The thorns expanded swiftly, forming a wall-like barrier...
Jiang Chen knew this was the enemy’s attempt to stop them by using magic to grow countless thorns, blocking their entrance to the passage.
The opponent was a Magician, an Earth-attribute Magician at that.
Jiang Chen halted his steps, looking at the dozens of meters high, impenetrably dense thorns.
How the hell do you charge through this? Use Sword Qi to sweep away the thorns? While possible, it would definitely slow us down. The enemy is clearly trying to block our advance, and there’s a high-level Magician present. Who knows what other tricks they have up their sleeve?
Jiang Chen paused for half a breath, then dashed to the left.
Thorns ahead, Scryps behind. There’s no one to the left; we can get around from there!
Smollet, watching the direction of Jiang Chen’s escape, swiftly recited incantations. The earth cracked, and thorns crazily grew from the ground, spreading to the left. The dense thorns were enough to make one’s scalp tingle.
Jiang Chen quickly retreated...
The magic of a high-level Magician was too powerful; its casting speed and range far exceeded what Jiang Chen had imagined.
"Swordsman, you two will not escape!" Smollet declared.
Angelina, worried, asked, "What should we do?"
Just then, Scryps rapidly closed in. Standing atop the Giant Dragon’s head, he fired a burst of Magic Sword Qi toward Jiang Chen. Jiang Chen, carrying Angelina, quickly dodged. Scryps leapt from the Giant Dragon, his eyes fixed on the direction Jiang Chen had taken.
With a Teleport, he vanished.
Jiang Chen, sensing the Spatial Fluctuation, quickly fled. By the time Scryps reappeared, Jiang Chen was already gone.
Scryps, enraged, bellowed, "Damn it! The fellow is too fast, and his Perception is too keen! We must narrow the area to ensure we can kill him!"
Just then, Smollet arrived with a group of people.
Scryps yelled, "Smollet, use your magic to seal off the surroundings! Restrict the space so he can’t escape!"
"His speed is indeed very fast, and his Perception is also strong," Smollet remarked.
Scryps retorted, "No kidding! Otherwise, that Swordsman would have died by my hand long ago!"
"Alright," Smollet conceded. "As you say, I’ll seal off his escape routes. That should slow him down."
At that, Smollet resumed his chanting. The thorns continued to grow wildly, surging toward Jiang Chen.
Jiang Chen quickly pulled back...
Jiang Chen was puzzled.
How wide is the range of this fellow’s magic? His magic covers the entire area within a kilometer radius!
Jiang Chen’s Sword Qi also launched an offensive. Three Thousand Sword Auras charged at Smollet. Just as Jiang Chen had anticipated, the Magician’s Magic Shield blocked his assault; the Sword Qi was unable to penetrate it.
