You Ditched an R-Rank, Now That I’m an SSR, You Wanna Cry?-Chapter 14: Abnormal Teleportation

Chapter 14

"Emergency situation!"
"All spirit tamers with contracted spirits level 50 and above, please provide immediate support!"
Mo Shiyu abruptly woke from her slumber.
Xia Yuan had already teleported into her bedroom, arms crossed over his chest as he leaned against the wall, intently listening to the broadcast outside. "Fatty Yu, seems there's trouble brewing out there."
Mo Shiyu rose sleepily, wiping drool from the corner of her mouth as she listened to the broadcast, her consciousness gradually clearing. "Oh no! An Abyss Instance?"
Hearing the level 50 requirement, Xia Yuan chuckled lightly. "Though we haven't reached level 50, our strength is solid enough. We can still go, right?"
Mo Shiyu shot up from bed like an arrow released from its bow, hastily tidying herself before rushing outside. "The wild instances that appear outside are several times more dangerous than the fixed refresh instances within the academy! Every time they erupt, many people lose their lives!"
Xia Yuan followed closely behind. "How's your spiritual energy recovery?"
Mo Shiyu clenched her small fist tightly. "No problem, I've already recovered eighty percent!"
The two charged out of the villa.
At four in the morning, the sky hadn't yet brightened.
Through the hazy night, they could hear the sounds of contracted spirits carrying their tamers leaping and darting between buildings within the academy, their figures ghost-like.
They were all students answering the summons to provide support.
Almost all were upperclassmen.
Xia Yuan reached back and grabbed Mo Shiyu's slender waist, lifting her up as he followed the main group.
"What are the monster levels in Abyss Instances?"
Already accustomed to being carried like this, Mo Shiyu wore a serious expression as she explained knowledgeably:
"Minimum level 50."
Through the hazy night, they could hear the sounds of contracted spirits carrying their tamers leaping and darting between buildings within the academy, their figures ghost-like.
"In regular instances, even the most powerful five-star instances have no more than 100 monsters at most."
"But in Abyss Instances, the maximum monster count can reach thousands!"
"Every time they appear, it's no small disaster."
A smile played on Xia Yuan's lips as he carried Mo Shiyu leaping between tall buildings. "Sounds promising. Should be able to gain lots of experience, right!"
The South District where the Abyss Instance had erupted was about 30 kilometers from Chuanbei Spirit Tamer Academy.
For contracted spirits moving at full speed, it wasn't too far.
Soon enough, even from a distance, they could see the terrifying red domain in the distance!
Ordinary residents were being continuously evacuated under the organization of various Great Xia official groups.
The roads were packed with crowds and vehicles, creating quite the commotion.
"That must be the place glowing red!"
Xia Yuan tightened his grip on Mo Shiyu and reminded her, "Time is tight, so let's flash over there!"
Mo Shiyu looked bewildered. "Huh? Flash?"
The next second, her vision blurred as the surrounding scenery changed.
When she opened her eyes again, they had already appeared at the location of the red light barrier!
"Huh... Huh!"
"We just teleported?!"
Mo Shiyu's face was full of astonishment.
Xia Yuan set her down and spoke nonchalantly, "What's so surprising about that? Actually, it's just using Cang's gravitational pull to quickly drag us to the destination. The effect is the same as long-distance teleportation."
Mo Shiyu's mouth twitched slightly. If this wasn't surprising, then what was? This was practically a divine skill!
Just how many more overpowered skills did this guy have that she didn't know about?
"You students from the academy here to provide support?"
A stern male voice sounded from behind.
The two turned to see a bearded man wearing a spirit tamer military coat frowning at them.
Behind him stood several powerful contracted spirits of various appearances, all having reached levels in the 90s!
Chen Hu glanced at the level 25 above Xia Yuan's head and couldn't help but snort coldly:
"Students these days really are newborn calves unafraid of tigers..."
"Though I don't know how you got here, you should retreat quickly. This isn't a place for level 25 contracted spirits!"
Because Xia Yuan's SSR class had been hidden by Mo Shiyu, outsiders could only see his level.
Seeing the three-star badge on his chest, Mo Shiyu immediately became respectful and explained:
"Sir, though my contracted spirit is only level 25, he's SSR. His combat power far exceeds ordinary level 50 contracted spirits!"
A military spirit tamer, and a three-star officer at that!
This bearded man's status was quite high!
Chen Hu looked somewhat astonished at Xia Yuan, who stood with hands in pockets, looking completely unserious except for his handsome appearance.
Even the contracted spirits behind him emitting powerful auras looked over curiously.
"SSR?"
"You're that student from Chuanbei Academy who drew an SSR, from the Mo family?"
Mo Shiyu nodded. "That's right, sir."
Xia Yuan paid no attention to the bearded officer at all, his gaze fixed on the red barrier that isolated everything before them as he got straight to the point. "That's the Abyss Instance inside there, right?"
Just how many more overpowered skills did this guy have that she didn't know about?
"Correct. To prevent monsters from the Abyss Instance from escaping, an SR contracted spirit from the Alliance established this barrier here."
"The raid team has already entered the Abyss Instance to take down the BOSS, but this Abyss Instance's difficulty is greater than we imagined!"
"After investigation, the monster count might reach an astonishing 3,000-plus!"
Mo Shiyu's voice was somewhat incredulous. "3...3,000?!"
No wonder support was needed for an instance that suddenly appeared in a bustling urban area with such a massive monster count!
"You're quite fast, being the first to arrive..."
Chen Hu praised them, "But don't worry, we don't need you students to enter the barrier with your contracted spirits to form the first line of defense. Our Alliance members are there. You just need to guard outside the barrier, forming the second line of defense to deal with any monsters that break through."
Xia Yuan went "Huh?" sounding rather unwilling to accept this.
Thinking he found the mission somewhat difficult, Chen Hu's brows furrowed again:
"Since you're a level 25 SSR, you should be able to handle this much, right?"
Xia Yuan waved his hand dismissively, looking disgusted. "I don't want to guard outside. How many monsters could I fight that way? Fatty Yu, let's get ready to go in."
Chen Hu was stunned.
Good grief!
You're not finding the second line difficult—you actually want to go inside?!
"Fool, do you want to die?!"
"Even if you're SSR, at only level 25, how much combat power could you possibly have? The Abyss Instances outside aren't as gentle as those fixed instances in your academy!"
Chen Hu immediately tried to stop them.
But Xia Yuan acted like he hadn't heard, already picking up Mo Shiyu beside him. "Let's go! This barrier seems to only block things from coming out, not us from going in."
Mo Shiyu looked quite helpless, only able to offer an awkward, embarrassed smile to the bearded officer. "Um... sir, sorry about this. We'll be fine."
Veins bulged on Chen Hu's forehead—even the best temper would be tested. "Hey, brat, follow orders!"
He immediately waved to signal his contracted spirits. "Stop him!"
Just as several contracted spirits prepared to move, before they could even react, Xia Yuan and Mo Shiyu's figures disappeared from their original position, leaving them grasping at air.
Chen Hu was dumbfounded.
The several max-level contracted spirits also looked at each other in surprise.
"They disappeared?"
"They must have been the first to arrive using this ability—teleportation flash?"
"Rumors say SSR contracted spirits all have incredibly broken skill mechanics. I've witnessed it today."
