Chapter 705: Triggering Bad Memories
"Why are you looking at me weird? Is there something on my face?" Xiaoyun curiously asked as he noticed Yuqi’s constant glares.
"Xiaoyun, you should really change back to your usual look. Someone is going to walk into the room and wonder why you look like this all of a sudden."
"Do you dislike me looking older?"
Turning around, Xiaoyun could see her face mysteriously blushing a little as she looked over to the window on the right.
"No. I just want to remind you that your Songming looks had already been posted on TV. Anyone walking in will be confused seeing you like this."
"So be it. I can’t stay young forever anyway. Only a matter of time before my face becomes this at some point."
As Xiaoyun turned around to resume working, he started browsing through the actual job descriptions of each department head on her computer.
"Whatever... You do you."
With nothing much to do, Yuqi took out her phone, scrolling through it out of boredom as he continued to occupy her desk.
"You sure you don’t need my help?"
Yuqi curiously asked as Xiaoyun’s eyes widened a little, seemingly puzzled by the actual job description of some of the newer department heads.
"I’m fine. Let me finish these few parts before I go back to my own office... You can get back your computer after I finish copying this down."
As she occasionally glanced over to her work computer, Yuqi’s heart suddenly started pounding faster and faster again.
"What am I thinking? He’s just working on my desk. Stop acting like a naive girl. You’re already past that kind of age."
Despite trying to calm herself back down, she just couldn’t help but feel a weird attraction towards his ’new’ look.
It was just a drastically different style. Even though she had seen him in this style before, the look just hits different seeing him working next to her.
What was usually a handsome young man straight out of college had become a rugged, middle-aged man with much more facial hair.
"No wonder Mom fell in love with Songming... Stop, stop, you like Xiaoyun, not Songming."
A few minutes later...
As Yuqi stared towards the plant in the corner of the room, Xiaoyun soon noticed something off about her as he finished up the last few notes.
"Yuqi? Yuqi!"
"Y-Yes!"
"Your mouth is drooling..." Xiaoyun murmured, grabbing a tissue to wipe off the drool from the corner of her mouth.
"Oh, s-sorry."
"I’ll hand you the final draft of the cabinet reforms by the end of the week. You should prepare to transition into your new role."
"Okay. Wait. Don’t leave yet."
Just as Xiaoyun got up from his seat with the paper in hand, she suddenly pulled him closer to her chair.
"Y-You still haven’t changed your looks yet."
"My look? Oh shoot, almost forgot about that——"
Before he could change back, Yuqi suddenly yanked him down to her lap, grabbing the paper out of his hand and putting it back down onto the desk.
"Yuqi?"
"I can’t wait any longer, babe... I want to give my birthday present to you right now in this office."
As she began unbuttoning her shirt one by one, Xiaoyun’s brain immediately connected all the dots as to why she had been acting so strangely the whole time.
"Wait, Yuqi. Think about the consequences. W-We’re still in the office. We really shouldn’t do this here.
A-And the door isn’t even locked. What if Jianlin came into the office right now and saw us?"
Despite his best attempt to change Yuqi’s mind, she continued to unbutton until her white bra was fully exposed.
"I don’t care anymore. You’re not leaving this room until I deliver this present to you... Do you not want to do it?"
Seeing her face looking a little hurt, Xiaoyun immediately pinned both of her hands against the chair.
His hand lifted her chin as he stared right into her. A hint of fear and nervousness in her eyes as she remained still.
"Of course I want to do it, you silly."
"O-Okay then... W-What are you waiting for? Why are you laughing?"
Yuqi impatiently asked as Xiaoyun kept sitting on her lap in silence until he suddenly let out a small giggle.
"Anyone told you how cute you looked when you act helpless like this? It’s like a silly goose who goes around quacking with no action.."
"Y-You——"
As her voice got louder and louder like a boiling kettle, Xiaoyun quickly pulled off the lid as he leaned forward for a kiss.
Their tongue began to mix as her eyes began to lose focus. Her heart began to race faster than before as a weird feeling popped into her mind once again.
She knew the person in front of her was her husband, but it just didn’t feel right to her. From the looks to the way he was talking.
"Mhm! S-Stop!"
After several attempts to push him away, Xiaoyun finally stopped, looking back at her with a confused face.
"What’s wrong?"
"I-I don’t like you in this look... C-Can you change it back to... normal?"
Seeing her shyly looking away, too afraid to look back at him in the eyes, Xiaoyun’s brain quickly connected the dots once again.
"Do you dislike the older me this much?" Xiaoyun curiously asked as he forcefully turned her head around by the chin.
"I don’t like it. Can you just change it back?"
"Really?"
Before Yuqi could respond with something else, his hand had already reached straight down, going underneath her pants and panties.
"Stop——Hm!"
"Looks like someone is not really being honest with me... Yuqi, do you have a father fetish or something?"
"W-What? Why would I——Hm!"
"Qiqi?"
"D-Don’t call me that——Hm!"
Every tease he did with his finger, her sentence was instantly intrupted by a moan. A wave of pleasure that shocked her body a little.
"Do you miss me, Qiqi?"
"Stop..."
As Yuqi’s eye began to suddenly tearing up, Xiaoyun immediatelly pulled his hands back out as he didn’t expect her to have a such big reaction.
"Sorry. Did I go too far?"
After a whole minute of silence, the sobbing slowly died down as she looked back up to him, the tear marks still remaining on her face.
"I should be the one saying sorry. It’s not your fault, I ruined the mood when it’s just... just you in a old look."
Seeing her struggling to speak up, Xiaoyun pulled Yuqi a little closer for a hug as his hand gentle brushed her hair.
"It’s okay. You don’t need to apologize for it... I should have realize this was a painful memory of yours."
As the two continued to hug each other in the office chair, she suddenly pushed him back a little before looking back up at him.
"I-It’s not a painful memory. I... I just thought back to the day of your funeral. It feels weird seeing you here like this."
"My funeral?"
Xiaoyun paused for a second, then quickly realize Yuqi was talking about the the funeral for his Songming identity.
"Yes your funeral... I was crying so hard when Mom told me I would never see you again. You know how much I hated you for that?"
"Sorry."
"Don’t say sorry. I already said it’s not your fault. You had no control over it... Xiaoyun, do you want to know how we endure all these years while you were gone?"
Yuqi’s sudden opening up surprised Xiaoyun a little, but he shook his head, not wanting to trigger any more bad memories in her.
"If it hurts for you to say it. I rather never know about it."
"You don’t get to pick. You’re going to hear about it no matter what." Yuqi murmured as she protested with a gentle punch onto his chest.
"I’m all ears."
As Xiaoyun waited patiently on her to start the story, Yuqi forcefully pushed him back into his own chair before sitting directly onto his lap.
Crawling up into almost a ball, she oddly felt more comfortable sitting on his lap like this as his heat radiated onto her body.
"You know how big of a mess you left behind when you ’died’ in that car crash? The whole world flipped upside down overnight."
Before he could apologize again, Yuqi pressed index finger up against Xiaoyun’s lip, preventing him from speaking up.
"Shush. I don’t want to hear the word sorry again... As I was saying, when we went to the crash scene, the car had already caught on fire."
"On fire? Wait a moment. Isn’t the car I’m driving right now the same one as the one I used to drive in the past?"
"Mom brought an same model you dummy. What make you think she’ll drive an old SUV for that long without worrying about it breaking down?" Yuqi explained.
Xiaoyun didn’t speak up any further, but inside his mind, he was thinking of how it literally broke down a few weeks ago.
