Chapter 169: Chapter 168: Staying on the unknown planet 5
"Don’t worry, I certainly won’t go far."
They were in an unknown place, so Ryzel wouldn’t dare go far away from Layton.
Ryzel knew that he was very fragile because of his trash physique that had only leveled up a bit.
He knew that he wouldn’t have the strength to fight anything if he encountered something dangerous.
So, of course, Ryzel wouldn’t go too far away from Layton and didn’t dare forget the distance that he had set.
However, with the amount of plants near the river, Ryzel didn’t think he could even go beyond 50 meters while Layton was fishing because he had to get a lot of plants.
After going out, Ryzel took out the tools he was going to use to get plants.
Looking at the plants around him, Ryzel was excited and immediately started collecting plants, starting from the weeds that were abundant around him, as he was also stepping on them.
He had already started collecting plants, but Layton was still beside him and watched him for a while before going to the river after making sure he didn’t have any problem.
After the weeds, Ryzel started picking the other plants around him. If there were a lot, he would pick more—especially in different stages of life, like a plant that has only sprouted, one that has flowers, and those that were too mature that they’d probably wilt after a few more days or months.
Ryzel hadn’t moved for 2 meters, but he had already picked up a lot of plants.
The plants near the river were clearly different from the plants near their tent, so Ryzel managed to get a lot of plants even though he hadn’t moved far yet and had only gathered for 10 minutes.
And in just 10 minutes, Layton had already emerged out of the river.
"You’re already done fishing?" Ryzel asked while looking at Layton, who had removed the transparent bubble around him that had protected him from getting wet from the river water.
The transparent bubbles were a popular product in the federation for places that had underwater tours or any attraction that had underwater activities.
The transparent bubble was just like another semi-protective layer that always stayed 1 inch from the body.
It could only block water out and contain some oxygen for the person, so it was only useful for going underwater.
But most soldiers still had some in their space because they used them for other purposes.
The transparent bubble could often work even in polluted and poisonous water areas, so it was still useful even if it was only one-time use, because they could still work in emergencies.
Ryzel also had some of those transparent bubbles before because he had visited a water park at the capital.
When he entered the Ninth Army, some of those transparent bubbles were also included in the things he got aside from his uniform.
So he wasn’t surprised Layton also had some and used them for fishing since they weren’t very clear yet about the unknown planet they were on.
"Yes, I have already caught a lot."
"What does the fish look like? Is it also different from the fishes we have in the federation?" Ryzel asked curiously.
"Want to see?"
"Yes, can you let one out?"
Layton didn’t reply but brought one out from his space bracelet.
"Wow. It’s a river fish but it’s actually this big?" Ryzel said while looking at the blue fish that was about 7 meters long.
Because the federation had many planets, there were also different types of fish that Ryzel had seen before, but it seemed that the species on the planet they were in was really different, as they also had different fish.
The river fish that Layton was showing him was already very big compared to the other river fishes that he had seen before.
In the federation, most river fish weren’t that big, but there were indeed big ones—yet most of them were only about 5 or 6 meters long.
"Yes, the fish here are big. This fish is just the medium size; there are even bigger ones in my space."
"They’re very large, so how deep is this river?"
He could see that the river was about 400 meters wide, but he really couldn’t see how deep it was.
"It’s about 200 meters deep."
"I see, no wonder the fish could be that large. They have enough space to live in."
If this place was already 400 meters wide and 200 meters deep, the other places were certainly larger, especially where the falls were, because they were already far from that area but the river was still deep and wide.
"Did you only get this type of fish?" Ryzel asked while looking at the large blue fish.
"No, there are still other ones, but this type of fish is the biggest. I’ll show the others to you later. I need to check if they could also be eaten by you so you can see it then."
"OK. Then help me get some more plants."
"Of course."
With the help of Layton, who could work faster than him, they easily collected all the different kinds of plants that were available near the river.
And because they already got a lot, Ryzel didn’t plan to add anything anymore because he could study the plants that he got for 2 weeks if he was fast and 3 weeks if he wasn’t.
It was enough for the time being, so he didn’t plan to get more because some might have some changes if they were stocked for too long, even if they were inside the fresh-keeping boxes which could hold them for a long time without wilting.
If they somehow changed, then the result of what he researched as their characteristics would be off or a little different, which would not be good.
So after packing all the fresh-keeping boxes that were full of plants, they went back to their hover car and started roaming around the forest.
They had more time than expected, so Layton controlled the hover car to roam different places in the mountain range.
