Chapter 27: Chapter 26: Memory
He fulfilled all of his promises to Ryzel’s father.
He was fairly satisfied that Ryzel had married him. As long as Ryzel was with him, he was confident in his ability to make Ryzel fall for him.
Layton Lewis remembered Ryzel’s brilliant eyes as he looked at the guide mech he had gotten. He knew he was still the same as when he was younger; he still enjoyed viewing mechs up close and wished to pilot them.
He could still remember the young Ryzel insisting that he would also become a powerful sentinel.
Ryzel had always wanted to pilot a mech on his own. He always saw Ryzel going inside his father’s mech just to try it out. He also remembered that Ryzel begged him to pull out his mech so he could see what it looked like.
Ryzel frequently witnesses him sparring with his father. After the fight, he would demand that the winner teach him how to be more powerful.
The young Ryzel was too delicate to handle even a simple training routine. He and General Carl would often think of ways to divert his attention afterwards to let him forget about training.
They often coaxed him with stories.
Ryzel was a highly curious child who wanted to know everything, especially about things he couldn’t see in real life. So, while telling him stories, he would ask a lot of questions about them.
He would ask what the stars looked like up close, what the planets outside looked like, what the Zergs looked like, what a certain plant tasted like, and what the scenery looked like in a certain place.
When General Carl had meetings, Ryzel would pester him for more stories just because he was bored.
He liked a lot of exploration stories, and he wasn’t even afraid of stories on the frontlines. So, Layton Lewis would end up telling stories about the places he went to and about the Zergs.
Sometimes the young Ryzel would also be lazy about his homework. So he would ask the soldiers in the army for help.
All of them would readily agree because the young Ryzel knew how to act cute when he wanted something, but his father wouldn’t allow them to help him. So Ryzel would ask him for help, knowing that he was more powerful than his father.
He would sometimes help him out, but most of the time he would leave it to him and even supervise him to finish his homework.
Being with the young Ryzel was a great relief for him. At that time, he had just participated in the Great War because of his grandfather’s death.
His mental sea was already on the verge of breakout because of too much exposure to the Zergs pollution.
He was assigned to General Carl’s army, which was currently assigned to the capital star, just to calm his mental sea.
The stabilizing potions and soothing potions made by Ryzel’s mother were very effective for him. His recovery was even faster due to the presence of the young Ryzel.
The young Ryzel was a very lovable child, and that’s why all the personnel in General Carl’s army liked him very much. Of course, Layton Lewis was not an exception.
After recovering for a year, he already needed to leave General Carl’s army and go back to the frontlines.
After the death of Ryzel’s parents, he sent some guards to protect him. Through them, he would receive a regular monthly about Ryzel.
As a diversion from his hectic work, he frequently read Ryzel’s life in the Capital Star.
Maybe because of those s, even though he hadn’t seen Ryzel in person, his feelings for him had unknowingly intensified and even caught him off guard.
He only knew his feelings about two years ago, after knowing that Dwight and Ryzel were in a relationship.
At that time, he immediately went to fight high-level Zergs in one of the Fringe Stars just to vent all his feelings.
He knew that if he hadn’t calmed down, he might have done something wrong with the state of mind he had at that time.
He knew that he couldn’t forget Ryzel for a lifetime, but since he was already in a relationship, he needed to stay away.
For the past two years, he didn’t look for Ryzel until he heard about him again from Mervin.
Knowing that Dwight and Ryzel broke up, Ryzel was looking for a sentinel to be his partner, but he still couldn’t find anyone. He felt bad for Ryzel, but at the same time, he was happy.
He felt happy that he finally had a chance to make Ryzel his, so he rushed back to the capital, not wanting to lose his opportunity.
Thankfully, he successfully married Ryzel.
He told Ryzel that he could wait for a lifetime, which is true. He could wait for a lifetime as long as Ryzel was already by his side.
He would wait for Ryzel, but of course he would do his best to let Ryzel fall for him completely.
He knew that marrying Ryzel should be enough for now, as he knew Ryzel didn’t have any feelings for him.
But he knew he could only be fully satisfied once Ryzel had completely fallen for him.
He also understood Ryzel had recently ended a two-year relationship, and he might not be ready to put his feelings in another person.
The mere thought that Ryzel may still have affection for another sentinel makes Layton Lewis want to tear something apart. He would try his utmost to remove all traces left by the other person on Ryzel.
He also knew that, with Ryzel’s personality, he wouldn’t dwell on someone who deceived him.
So Layton Lewis knew that he should be focusing on how to seduce Ryzel into being completely his.
Layton Lewis caressed Ryzel’s sleeping face for a while and said, "I won’t let you escape from my grasp again.
Since you married me, you should be completely mine."
Layton Lewis kissed Ryzel’s forehead and murmured, "Have a sweet dream."
