Chapter 27: Chapter 27 - Lich (1)
Dante ate his meal and stretched his body the final time. He walked to the wall, slowly.
He touched the wall, channeling his mana into it. His eyes revealed the pathway. And it was also one of the puzzles
Nyrax
showed him.
He easily solved the puzzle and took a step back. He heard a bang from the right side. He glanced at Thomas.
He then turned to the left, meeting with Julius’s eyes. They both nodded at each other.
The wall slowly moved and turned into the door.
Thomas looked at the giant door and let out a voice. "I think this is the final fight. I don’t think the third stage will hide the door in the wall. Your eyes sure are useful, Dante."
Dante rubbed his nose and smiled.
Suddenly, the door opened, welcoming the three inside. The aura inside the door was ominous, it was chilly. Its intent was rushing toward Dante.
Dante chuckled, nervously. ’This could be bad.’
He swallowed his saliva and stepped forward. Following him was Thomas and Julius. Their faces were calm. No.
Thomas was ecstaticed, grinning ear to ear.
Julius’s eyes were cold, devoid of any thought beside his own blade.
Dante shook his head inwardly. As soon as they arrived inside the room, the door behind them shut off.
Dante created a mana ball and added a light rune inside. He then let the ball float in the air.
As the ball reached the ceiling, he snapped his fingers.
The light ball exploded and the mana string emerged from it. It etched onto the ceiling, illuminating the entire room.
The room was somewhat huge. It was the size of the inner layer of the Goblin village. They saw many parts of armor laying on the ground, lifeless.
"What is this place?" Thomas frowned, asking himself.
"Over there." Julius said, pointing at the center of the room.
Dante of course noticed this before even entering the room. There was a huge throne chair in the middle of the room.
The chair was made from white bones and the base was covered in red. Judging from the appearance and vibe, Dante assumed that the red paint was dried blood.
The figure was sitting on the white throne. It was covered by a black cloak.
Dante saw mana emerging from the figure, as if it was coming back to life. The figure stood up and released waves of mana.
Dante brushed off the mana with a scoff. He noticed the mana and grabbed it. He condensed it using his skill and nodded.
"I see. Tainted mana comes from that guy." Dante said to himself.
The figure slowly lifted up his cloak and threw it to the side, revealing the skeleton underneath.
The white skull stares at Dante’s trio, eyes sockets filling with green flame.
"How dare thou disturb my sacred slumber?"
The skeleton spoke in a strange language but they understood it perfectly.
’Must be from the system.’ Dante thought and channeled mana around his body. He also took out the axes and activated the third rune, enlarging them.
"Attack." He yelled out, throwing the axe at the skeleton.
The skeleton lifted up its arm and muttered a series of arcane words. The axe halted in the air and fell to its feet.
The skeleton then sat on the throne and chanted a word loudly.
"Oh great Nhriha, Empower me with divine strength."
The black armors around the throne slowly assembled themselves. The assembly was fast, it only took an instant.
There were about 20 knights guarding the throne.
Each knight was strong enough to push back Thomas. Dante frowned.
They had to penetrate this defense line and have to attack the skeleton who was also probably stronger than the knights.
"Guess, it is the old way then." Dante sighed, equipping the two axes.
Julius flashed beside him and appeared in the middle of the knights. He took out his sword and beheaded five knights in a single swing.
The fights began.
Knights assaulted them with swords. Thomas stepped forward and threw a quick punch. The punch travelled through the air, blowing the knight back.
He then stomped the ground, the floor shifted under his earth mana. He manipulated the battlefield to his advantage and started punching with a flame coated punch.
Dante was the only one who stayed behind the back, observing the skeleton. The mana inside the skeleton was death, in a true sense.
It didn’t took a that much time for Thomas and Julius to clear all the knights. They sustained a few wounds but nothing serious.
Thomas conjured a fire arrow and threw it toward the skeleton. It stopped in the air and melted away.
The skeleton reminded unmove the entire time.
Dante’s instinct was warning him to not attack the skeleton. He suppressed his instinct and channeled the mana bolt.
He then aimed at the skeleton and fired, it also melted down in the air before reaching the skeleton.
Dante noted down what he saw with his eyes. His assumption was correct, the skeleton was surrounded by a barrier.
The barrier was not made from mana because he didn’t see any life around it.
He glanced at Julius.
Julius sensed his gaze and looked back. They both nodded in understanding.
Julius teleported on top of the skeleton and used his

skill, coating his sword with space energy.
He poured full force and slashed down the sword but the strike stopped midway. Julius found himself floating in the air.
The skeleton lifted up his head and looked Julius with its green eyes.
"For you to use the power of dimension, I praise you for your talent. What is your name, child?"
The skeleton spoke.
Julius smirked and replied. "Julius."
"Well done, Julius. Now feel the power of mine, Aldryx, the lich of salvation."
The skeleton introduced itself and snapped its bone finger. There was no sound coming from the snap but Dante noticed the change in barrier.
The barrier twisted into the spear and stabbed at Julius. The stab was powerful enough to sent Julius flying, crushing into the wall.
"Thomas, don’t engage with the lich. Keep it busy, I will go check Julius." Dante said, running toward his wounded friend.
Thomas gathered mana in the air and fueled his gauntlets, making the flame even hotter.
After seeing Julius, Thomas didn’t get close and instead used long range attacks. He fired a few arrows and observed.
The skeleton didn’t move and welcomed the attacks.
"I am surprised to see a person filled with that much will power."
The lich said, tapping his finger to the chair.
"Raise my child under the power of Nhriha. I give you a new life to worship the decay."
He wave his hands and the previous destroyed knights came back to life.
Thomas grinned looking around, readying himself for the next waves of knights.
Dante arrived in front of his friend and checked the wounds. He frowned realizing the seriousness of the damage his friend received.
There was a hole tored in the shoulder, he could see through Julius. Blood was forming a pool underneath.
There was also numerous broken bones but Dante worried more about the hole in the shoulder. One wrong move and the arm could be separated.
Dante used his
Heal
skill and created a ball of life energy. He slowly pushed the skill into Julius, slowly guiding the life energy.
