Chapter 52: Chapter 52- Before the short journey
Dante woke up from bed and cleaned his face on the basin. He then went downstairs and grabbed breakfast in the kitchen.
It was not as good as the one from the system shop but what can he do? He silently ate the food.
He noticed a few people wanting to join his table but he didn’t want to chit chat in the early morning. He was in a mood for that for some reason.
Strange because he thought he became more outgoing.
Dante stopped his hand midway before the food reached into his mouth. He shook his head, throwing away the crazy idea.
He released a bit of compressed mana, making himself appear unapproachable. After finishing the breakfast, he quickly went to the underground chamber.
Julius was still fighting with Moist.
He wondered if Julius ever rested. But he decided not to interfere with the blonde haired friend as he saw Julius enjoying the fight.
He opened the door and arrived. The first thing he noticed was the trash pile in front of the room mysteriously vanished.
He looked around and didn’t find a single trace of that.
He smelled and noticed that the air inside also changed. It became fresher. Seems like Notan cleared his room.
Wallace must be proud.
Dante caught a glimpse of someone sleeping in the corner of the room. He walked over and shook the bed.
The young teenager woke up abruptly with his eyemask still covering.
"What? What happened? The earthquake? No. It can’t be. I installed the earthquake protection rune. Enemies attacked? Yeah. Yeah."
Dante watched as Notan tried to make sense of the situation. He smiled and pulled out the eyeband from his head.
"Oh." Notan looked at him and furrowed his brows.
Dante let go of the eyeband and snapped at Notan’s face.
"Ouch." He exclaimed, taking out his eye cover. He climbed down from the bed and walked over to the nearby basin. He watched his face while complaining about unfair treatment he was getting right now.
"I am also human."
"Yeah. Yeah." Dante said, rolling his eyes.
Notan was irritated by this behavior and continued to complain even more.
Dante sighed and grabbed a chair and waited for him to calm down. After Notan calmed down, he went back to his workshop and started drawing.
"You clear this place?"
"Yeah, otherwise I have to do the ritual outside."
"I see." Dante nodded. "Make sense."
He threw the storage bag to Notan. "Here. I will give you more tomorrow."
Notan caught the bag and peered inside. He whistled in delight. "Cool. With this I can start the first step."
Dante stood up and left the underground chamber.
He arrived outside and looked up at the sky. He sighed.
"I need to do this for a month." He told himself.
He entered the main building and went to his father’s room. He knocked and without waiting for an answer he entered it.
His father was the same as always doing the paperwork.
He gave a quick glance at the paper and let out a smirk. "Even in this place, the paperwork doesn’t leave huh?"
His father lifted up his head and furrowed a brow. "Yeah, the worst thing humans created. So what do you need? I got a from Shizuku that you are doing well here."
"This place is good. But I don’t think I can stay here for long."
"Why?" His father dropped the pen and straightened his back. He stared at him.
"I am now realizing that the old world is truly gone. No matter what we all liked to pretend that, it is truly gone."
His father smiled. "Yeah, but most people can’t handle that. That is why they created the illusion."
Dante nodded. "That is why I am going to find new things to enjoy, dad. I need a map of this place. The most detailed one."
"That is a huge request. Maps are the most sought thing here. Normally, I would make a deal with you but." He sighed and took out a rolled paper from his desk and threw it to Dante.
Dante grabbed it and opened it. There were dots and marks all over the place. He scanned a quick look at the map and rolled back.
"Thanks dad. Now I know what those rich kids were feeling." Dante joked.
"Don’t enter the Union range. They are not that kind." His father said seriously.
Dante nodded and stood up.
He went back to his room and started packing his stuff. He decided.
He decided to go on a bit of a self discovery journey. But he still needed to make a few plans for that.
After packing, he grabbed his backpack and entered the main bailey where Julius was training.
He called out Julius.
Julius stopped his sword and walked toward him. His body wetted with sweat. His blond hair now reached near his shoulder.
"You need to cut your hair." Dante said.
"I think it suited me." Julius said, lifting up his hair to the back.
"Haha. Anyway, I am now leaving this place for a while."
"Really? How long?"
Dante shook his head. "I don’t know. Maybe two weeks or more. Thomas is also gone."
"Yeah,I know. He went up to me last night. He said he will drive farther into the forest. Looks like there are no worthy foes here for him."
"I don’t think he was the type to enjoy Battles. Guess this place brings out your innate desire. Look at you. Swinging sword and stuff." Dante said.
"Hehe. So it is goodbye."
"Nah, I will come here from time to time. Don’t forget we will have our own journey after this tutorial."
Julius smiled. "Yeah. I know. That is why I am doing my best to grow stronger."
"Me too."
Dante gave a few words to Julius and left. He went back to the underground chamber and talked with Notan about his situation.
Notan was a bit hesitant but he complied.
As long as Dante gives him the mana cores every week, he will make it work.
