Chapter 51: Chapter 51 - Cooling and drying
Dante crouched down and looked at the dead crab.
He opened the notification, wanting to check the creature name he killed.
[You have slain Land Crab.]
[1000 points earned.]
"Seriously. Another crappy name." He muttered with a slight smile.
He got up and fixed the clothes he was wearing. Now, it was mostly fixed. He grabbed the cane and walked to the group.
Thomas waved at him. The big man observed Dante and whistled.
"You are insane." He said.
"Oh, you only realize that now?" Dante said back.
Thomas nodded. "I thought you were the only normal one in our group since you mostly fought from the outside."
"I wish I could do that but." He turned toward the destroyed mountain wall and let out a sigh. "With this kind of damage? I don’t think I can risk that."
Thomas looked at the two women and whispered.
"Need mana?"
Dante shook his head. "Nah, I am good. I just need to rest."
"Then we should loot the carbs here and leave the area. I don’t think other monsters will come here due to that blast but better safe and never." Shizuku said.
"Alright. You guys can get the cores easily right?"
Shizuku nodded. "Yeah."
"So I will give you guys that task. After we move away from here, we will split the cores among the group." Dante said.
"Okay."
Shizuku took Liora with her and started looting around. Dante observed them. They touched the corpse and it vanished in the air, turning into a rainbow colored mist.
Dante observed with his eyes and didn’t see anything at all.
"Looks like my eyes still can’t look into the system stuff." He said to himself.
After they finished looting the last crab, they began leaving the area. Their goal was to the stream as they decided that they needed to watch the monster scent.
Especially Dante who was covered in his own blood. He smelled horrible and felt horrible as well.
Soon they found a stream. Dante tossed his weapons to Thomas and jumped into the water. He soaked in it, letting the dust float away.
He washed his body and went to the shore.
"Hey, Thomas. Blast me with warm air." Dante asked.
"You sure? I don’t have much control over manipulating the two mana simultaneously." Thomas said.
Dante nodded. "Whatever. I don’t want to stay like this for the second time. I think I am about to catch the cold."
He looked up at the sky and saw snow coming down. The weather was strange here. One day, it was winter, the snow was raging.
And it turned briefly into the summer. Maybe this was really a winter since the snow came more often.
Thomas nodded and extended his palm. "Here we go."
"Ahh.."
Dante screamed as a hot wind entered into his unhealed skin.
After that, he felt dry.
"Guess there is a balance I need to achieve." He muttered and sat down.
"Give me some juice."
"Okay." Thomas said and tossed him a can from the system.
He grabbed and emptied the can, before it disappeared into the air.
Then, the ladies came, having cleaned their own stuff.
Shizuku placed all the things they had looted. There were some artifacts, potions and mana cores.
"So how do we split?" He asked, looking at Shizuku.
"You need mana cores right?" She asked.
Dante nodded. "Yeah. I need a lot of those."
"Then, you take the mana cores."
"Really? Don’t you guys need one?"
Shizuku shook her head. "Not really. Mana cores are mostly used to fuel artifacts such as the castle and other stuff created by the artisan."
"Can’t you guys absorb the mana cores to your core?" Thomas asked.
"No." She said, looking confused at the question. "The system didn’t recommend getting the experience that way."
"Can you explain why?" Thomas asked again.
"The system says there is some kind of will inside the mana core." Shizuku answered.
"I see." Dante nodded. "Well then, I will take all the mana cores."
He turned to Thomas. "Need one?"
"No. I am good."
"Hehe." Dante nodded with a smile. "Crap, I don’t have any bags on me."
"Can’t you buy a storage bag from the system?" Thomas said.
"No." Dante frowned. "Don’t tell me there is one in the shop?"
Thomas pulled up the system and checked. "Yep, there is one. I found it yesterday and brought one myself. See."
He said, patting the bag he placed on his waist.
"So that is a storage bag. I thought you took Julius’s stuff since it was emitting space mana." Dante sighed.
He also pulled out the system and checked the shop. He scrolled the list and didn’t find anything. He already memorized a lot of items from the list.
There were no such items or any new ones from his fast checking.
"I can’t find any."
"That is strange." Thomas said. "Guess, I will buy it for you."
He pulled out a bag from the air and gave it to Dante.
"How much?" Dante asked.
"1500 points."
Dante nodded and transferred the points to his friend. He tossed the mana cores inside the bags and tied it on his waist.
He looked at himself and sighed. ’I need to organize my stuff."
The space bag’s interior was not that big. He could store about 50 cores. It also didn’t seem to alter the weight.
Thomas took a few vials from the loot and the rest went to Shizuku and Liora.
They rested for a few minutes, gathering mana and sharpening their weapons.
Dante meditated, recalling the fight. He thought about a way to improve his movement. The way to cut off unnecessary moves.
How could he manipulate the mana more efficiently?
He opened his eyes and let out a good stretch.
"Guess, we will call it a day." He looked at the sky and said, "Hey, we will leave."
They began leaving the area.
They arrived at the castle when the sun set down.
Thomas didn’t enter the castle. Instead, he said he would like to roam the area alone.
Dante nodded and parted away with his friends.
On the way to his room, he saw Julius sparring with Moist. Their sword dance was the same as yesterday with Moist overpowering Julius.
Dante watched the fight and entered the room. Immediately, he fell dead on the bed. Using Heal took away most of his stamina.
And he couldn’t drink the stamina vial Shizuku gave. It tasted weird and his gut was telling him to not consume.
Slowly, his consciousness drifted.
