Becoming Secret Nanny for Possessive CEO-Chapter 153: The Culprit

Chapter 153

Chapter 153: Chapter 153: The Culprit
James chased the masked man at full speed. The mysterious man ran with a bag, making James want to laugh. It certainly made it easier for him to catch up to the criminal because he wasn’t carrying anything, while the criminal was carrying something, making it difficult for him to run.
As the criminal ran to the end of the alley, he was at a loss as to which way to escape. If he climbed, he would have to sacrifice the large bag he was carrying. His right hand trembled as he pulled a dagger from his trouser pocket and pointed it at the man chasing him.
"Wow! Wow! Even though you’re in such a dangerous situation, you’re still carrying that bag." James stared intently at the large bag the mysterious man was holding. "I’m actually curious, what’s in that bag? Is it money?"
"Don’t come any closer if you want to save your life!"
James laughed with satisfaction as he spread his legs wide. "I’m not afraid of a bastard like you who wants to kill two of my friends!"
Now James didn’t hesitate to attack the mysterious man with his extraordinary martial arts skills. He snatched the black bag from the mysterious man and fought him until his face was bruised. Of course, he didn’t expect this mysterious man to be so easily defeated, as he initially thought Yvette would hire a ruthless hitman.
After beating the man until he was helpless, he took a rope and tied him tightly. With a haughty face, he kicked him until he fell to the asphalt.
"You’re such an amateur. I suspected it from the start because I tracked you so easily." James picked up a black bag lying on the asphalt and opened it to reveal a wad of cash. "I could also guess it was money because you looked so greedy when I chased you earlier."
"Who are you really?"
James grabbed the man’s hair roughly. "Now I’m the one who wants to ask you a question. Who ordered you to kill my two friends? You’ve actually got the wrong target. If you’re going to cause trouble for my friends, I won’t hesitate to kill you right now!"
"I don’t know who that person is!"
"Until now you still don’t want to admit it, even though I’m sure the person who told you to do it will betray you."
James rolled his eyes as he took the phone from the mysterious man’s pocket. He grabbed the man’s index finger and placed it on the fingerprint sensor. He could now unlock the mysterious man’s phone.
He immediately opened his call log. Then, he glanced at the only unknown number listed. He already suspected Yvette was using another number for some nefarious mission. Moreover, the text message from that number hadn’t been deleted yet. The last message clearly related a murder plot to be carried out today, specifically to frame Edith.
"I already know who your boss is. I won’t ask you again."

Edith returned to the hotel to check on her twins, who were still awake. She was unsure how to explain this to them. Callum had broken his promise several times, and were they starting to resent him? Especially since the twins’s birthdays were coming up. She worried that they would consider this year the worst birthday ever.
Erdin and Eliana greeted their mother with anxious looks.
"Mom, are you okay?" Erdin asked, looking at his mother’s somewhat tired face.
Edith smiled reassuringly, patting her twins’ heads. "Of course."
"Where is Dad?" As usual, Eliana always missed her beloved father.
"Your father will not be coming home for a while."
"Why?" Eliana asked in a disappointed tone.
"Because your father has important business with a witch. I hope you can understand."
Eliana let out a weak breath, sitting on the sofa, hugging her stuffed bunny. "I miss Dad."
"That witch is so evil that she kidnapped our father!" Erdin concluded, also sulking.
"Kids, I know you’re very angry right now. But your father promised to come home as soon as possible once this matter is settled."
"Really? Does that mean Dad can celebrate our birthdays later?"
This is what made Edith reluctant to tell her little daughter the bad news. She could already tell she would cry. She knew Eliana’s stubborn personality was very similar to her own. If her wishes didn’t come true, Eliana would cry.
"Eliana, your father actually has something to do on your birthday. He already told me about it."
Eliana lowered her head and stared at her tiny fingers. "It’s okay. The important thing is that Dad’s business is finished."
"Really? You’re not angry?"
"I don’t want Dad to get scolded by that witch because of me. I want Dad to be happy too."
"Thank you for understanding, Eliana."
"But, how long will Dad be away? Can I video call him on our anniversary?"
"Of course. Your father must miss you very much too."
Edith held her twins’ hands. "We can go home now. Uncle James told me earlier. You don’t have to stay at the hotel anymore."
*****
Meanwhile, Callum was still sitting in his room, lost in thought. He felt lonely now that no one had visited him except Erick since Edith left him. He had heard Erick that Edith had been crying nonstop while she was unconscious. Now he understood the root cause of Edith’s swollen eyes: because she was so afraid of losing him.
James’s sudden entry into the room made Callum’s attention immediately focused on him. He had actually called James so late at night to ask about the progress of the spy’s capture.
"Have you caught him?"
James sat down in a chair next to the bed. "It was Yvette. I traced the phone number that kept calling the spy."
"I knew Yvette wouldn’t just sit back and watch when it came to killing Edith!"
"Callum, are you going to keep courting Yvette? Your life is in danger right now."
"It’s okay. This is all for Edith and my twins." Callum patted his friend’s arm gently. "I won’t be here long."
