Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Fake DNA Result?
Callum panicked when he saw his girlfriend unconscious. He immediately carried her body like a hero and walked out of the restaurant. He didn’t care that everyone in the restaurant was watching and gossiping about them; he just wanted to save their relationship. He still couldn’t believe his girlfriend would suddenly break up with him just because of that stupid DNA test result.
Edith’s earlier statement was true. Indeed, his behavior was becoming increasingly possessive. Because Edith had hurt his feelings again, he increasingly wanted to control her and keep her by his side. He didn’t even want to take her to the hospital, preferring to call his personal doctor to his home to treat his unconscious lover.
Edith was still asleep in her room. Callum was reluctant to leave his room. He still wanted to sleep next to his beloved woman, wanting to be the first to be welcomed. His right hand slowly stroked her head.
"I don’t care if you consider me your enemy. I won’t stand idly by. Especially if Cliff manipulates the DNA test results, I will kill him."
As a result of waiting too long for his lover to wake up, he fell into a deep sleep.
Edith slowly opened her eyes, squinting at her surroundings. They had argued earlier in the restaurant, but Callum had the nerve to bring her to this luxurious home. Furthermore, Callum was sleeping next to her, tearing her heart even further. Ever since her memories began to return in the restaurant, she had become increasingly reluctant to hurt a handsome man who truly loved her. Her eyes filled with tears as she stared at her lover’s handsome face, which made her heart flutter.
Her right hand reached for his soft cheek, then stroked it slowly. "Callum, I didn’t mean to hate you. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have hurt your feelings so much."
Suddenly, Callum also woke from his dream world. He stared at his lover with sparkling eyes. "I know you didn’t mean to hate me."
Her eyes widened. "Did you hear what I just said?"
Callum nodded. "I didn’t mean to eavesdrop. But isn’t it better this way? Then you won’t have to be nervous about sharing what’s on your mind with me."
Edith’s nervous reaction to being face-to-face with her lover became even more intense. She wanted to get out of bed, even though her left arm was on an IV drip. However, her lover was now acting increasingly selfish. His embrace was too tight, making her want to struggle even more.
"You are so mean!" Edith scolded, hitting her lover’s hand while she let out her tears.
"Don’t move around too much. Your hand still has an IV drip."
"I don’t care!"
"But I care about you. If I didn’t, I’d still treat you like a stranger, and I’d have to ask the kids for help, always pretending not to know."
"Callum, weren’t you angry when I said that at the restaurant?" Edith rolled her eyes. "I clearly said I was going to find Erdin and Eliana’s biological father. Why didn’t you understand what I meant?"
"I’d be furious if you treated me like a stranger just because of that stupid DNA test result. Until now, I couldn’t tell you the truth because I didn’t want to open up your past."
"Then, what about now? I still don’t want to give Erdin to you!"
"I will do it."
"What?!"
"I will give Erdin to you. But you must still follow the conditions I set."
"What requirements?"
"Keep being a secret nanny."
Edith wants to hit her boyfriend to vent her frustration at his overly possessiveness. This possessiveness actually makes her unable to hate him too much. Whether Callum is too innocent or too possessive, should she give in to his demands?
"Is this because our contract hasn’t ended yet?"
Callum smiled a mischievous smile, moving his lips closer to her red ones. "That’s one of the reasons. I actually want to see you every day."
"But, it can be concluded that you still don’t want to give Erdin to me."
"Were you insensitive to what I said earlier?"
Edith’s premonition grew increasingly uneasy. Callum continued to utter words that were difficult for her to understand. Suddenly, she realized what Callum was really saying, causing her gaze to widen.
"Don’t tell me you want me to be your secret wife!"
Callum scratched his head as he stared at the ceiling. "You were the one who wanted it, but you’re accusing me."
"Callum! You’re so annoying!" Edith immediately released the hug and then hit her lover’s broad back with a pillow repeatedly.
"But, I didn’t say that." His eyes narrowed at his lover. "Why did you hit me?"
"I never thought you’d be like this! I thought you were a soft-hearted type, but you’re actually quite dangerous! You deliberately seduced me to get me caught in your game!"
Callum burst out laughing, ruffling his girlfriend’s hair. "I want to stay with you because I’ve always wanted to. But if you don’t want to, I’ll keep forcing you."
"Callum!!"
"This is for the children’s sake, too. Especially since Eliana always tells me how much he likes me. Do you want Eliana to cry all the time just because you’re selfish?"
Edith looked away, tossing her hair. "You’re very clever at using a child’s name as an excuse."
"I’m going to find out who the perpetrator was who dared to manipulate the DNA test results. Because I actually already know the main perpetrator."
"Who is it?"
*****
After spending some time with his girlfriend at her residence, Callum didn’t remain silent when faced with a problem that would instantly destroy their relationship. He immediately visited his family’s high-rise building. Without needing to ask for help, he already knew who the culprit was. Someone who had been deeply jealous of their relationship for the past five years. Furthermore, that person was likely the killer who had been trying to kill them all five years ago.
He didn’t want to show any more politeness. He immediately barged into the president director’s office and slammed the door shut. His sharp gaze fixed on the president director’s face, showing no trace of guilt.
"Cliff, I will kill you!"
