Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Cry Because Happy
The more time she spent with Callum, the more she loved him to the point where she couldn’t bear to live apart from him. After practicing dancing together, she couldn’t bear to enter the dream world too quickly because she was increasingly afraid of the reality she was facing now. If Cliff found out the results of the DNA test, then she would have to take Erdin from Callum and would have to treat Callum as her enemy. Every time she thought about it, tears wanted to flow from her eyes. Especially looking at Callum’s very sweet behavior today, she still couldn’t get enough of playing with him. Her heart was increasingly blooming not relying on her suddenly recovered memory, but because she had fallen in love from the start. However, she didn’t dare to admit it openly.
"What’s wrong with you?" Callum asked, observing his girlfriend, whose expression was a little gloomy. His right thumb instinctively wiped her slightly wet eyelid. "Does your leg actually hurt?"
Although she didn’t feel any pain, she was even more moved by Callum’s intense concern for her. Callum’s possessive and protective attitude only made it even more impossible for her to escape.
"No."
"Then why are you crying? Are you afraid of going to the dance tomorrow?"
Edith looked down shyly, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear. "Actually, I cried because I was so happy."
"Really?"
"I really enjoyed spending time with you today." Her head hung low in shame. "I’m still not satisfied, actually."
"Then, tomorrow I want to give you a surprise."
"What surprise?"
Callum chuckled. "It’s a secret. If I tell you now, it won’t be a secret anymore."
"By the way, aren’t you nervous about attending the ball tomorrow?"
"No. I’m very confident because I’m attending the ball with the woman I love most."
Her cheeks flushed red at her lover’s expression of love. "Can you stop sweet-talking me? I’ll have even more trouble sleeping."
"But I always speak from my heart. I’m always confident when I’m with you."
"Why me? Why don’t you choose another woman?"
"Because I’ve grown comfortable with you. Only you can change my attitude."
"Actually, I once read your article in a business magazine. You rarely smile in your entire life. But seeing you in person, always smiling at me, I feel like you’re lying to everyone. You have a sweet smile, after all."
His lover’s flirting with him made him feel increasingly hot and his cheeks reddened. His strong arms embraced her slender body with excitement.
"Only you dare to praise me for that."
Edith rolled her eyes. "Really? I was speaking the truth."
"Everyone always thinks I’m the most handsome guy, but I never hear them compliment my smile."
"Actually, I only want one thing from you."
"Whatever it is, I will definitely grant it."
"I want you to always smile at me. If anything happens to you, you have to tell me."
Callum lifted his head right in front of his girlfriend’s face. "Okay, I’ll definitely do it. Even after the ball is over, I’ll ask you out more often."
A beaming smile lit up her beautiful face. "There’s no need to force yourself. Just us going out once in a while makes me happy."
"So, now you really think of me as your boyfriend?"
Edith immediately looked away and clutched the blanket, trembling. She felt so embarrassed to say such sweet things out loud, even though she didn’t want to admit it yet. However, Callum’s overly sweet demeanor made her even more unable to restrain herself.
"I haven’t expressed my feelings to you yet, you’re already so confident!"
"There’s no need to answer me, I already know the answer." His right hand caressed his lover’s cheek. "I just want you to never leave me."
"Regarding that, I’ll reconsider. I definitely enjoyed our date with you today."
His lips landed on the red ones in front of him briefly. "I promise I’ll make you cling to me even more. I don’t want you to run away from me."
"Callum..."
For a moment, his gaze fell on the clock on the wall, which showed it was already midnight. "I didn’t want to bother you any longer. You’ve only been sleeping for two hours lately, just to finish making our clothes."
Still, Edith wasn’t satisfied with chatting with her lover, instead she hugged his body tightly as if she didn’t want to let go. Actually, she wanted to hug his muscular body to satisfy herself before disaster struck them. She was afraid to face tomorrow. What if everyone knew her identity even though she was wearing a mask? Would everyone separate her from Callum? Especially if Cliff attended the ball, she was sure Cliff would do everything he could to separate them.
"Thank you for making me happy today, Callum."
"Let’s say thank you later, because from tomorrow onwards, you’ll be saying it to me a lot."
For Edith, it was impossible to express her gratitude every day because she still doubted their current relationship. She wondered whether it would end tomorrow.

The day of the ball had arrived. Early in the morning, Arabella visited a luxurious house with a spacious garden and a fountain in the center. She wore formal attire to visit Cliff’s luxurious family residence to meet his biological mother. In this way, she desperately hoped to separate Edith and Callum. She was increasingly disgusted by Callum’s increasingly insolent behavior toward her for the sake of a prostitute.
Cliff’s biological mother, Diana, is tasting the herbal tea she just made.
"Arabella, it’s been a long time since we met."
Arabella smiled kindly, crossing her legs. "Mom, I actually wanted to talk to you about something."
"What’s wrong? You don’t usually act like this."
"Looks like the woman is back with Callum."
Diana knew what "that woman" meant. She had always hated Edith so much that she wanted to torture her all the time. Her right hand immediately clenched tightly.
"That bitch actually came back to my son? How dare she!"
"I was supposed to attend the ball with Callum today, but that bitch dared to steal Callum from me."
