Chapter 31: Little Party
On their way home that evening, Arcane said something to Julian about what they had discussed at the teachers’ meeting earlier.
They talked about the school’s anniversary coming up next week. On that day, the school would be closed and the teachers would usually go out to celebrate together.
"The school owner wants to invite all the teachers to a lunch event. Then the principal said that you are also invited to the lunch event even though you only work part time," he explained.
The principal reasoned that even though Julian only worked a few days a week, he was still a teacher at the school. So maybe there was no harm in inviting him to come.
"He didn’t say it publicly, but he told me before I left the staff room. So, do you want to come?"
Hearing the offer, Julian naturally wanted to come. He felt that this was his chance to get closer to the other teachers, including Arcane himself.
He wanted to see how his husband interacted with the other teachers. In other words, Julian just wanted to know who was close to him.
Was it a woman or a man?
"Of course I want to! Who would refuse an invitation to lunch and a small celebration? So I think I can come to the event!" he replied enthusiastically.
Arcane nodded in understanding and said he would inform the principal that Julian would also be attending. The green haired young man was eager to attend the luncheon with the other teachers.
"It’s been a long time since I’ve been to an event like this! I used to go to parties with my friends all the time. But now that they live in a faraway city, I never go to parties anymore!"
"Then enjoy the party." Arcane ruffled Julian’s hair with a smile.
Because they were too busy with their conversation, they didn’t notice someone following them from behind. It was a girl wearing a school uniform with pink hair.
She looked very upset seeing how romantic Julian and Arcane were with each other. Of course, she didn’t like it, especially since she really wanted to get the math teacher.
"Just you wait! I’ll definitely get him and take him away from you. I can’t possibly lose to someone like you!"

On the school’s anniversary, the female students were given the day off from school and the teachers had lunch together. A small party was held at a restaurant paid for by the school owner.
It turned out that this was something that was done every year, and this was the first time Arcane had joined them.
Julian, who was also invited, attended the party with her husband. He saw a round table where the teachers were sitting around it. On the round table were several dishes, including side dishes.
"Oh, there’s so much food here!" he murmured happily.
"I knew this was your main reason for coming, huh?" teased Arcane, which was met with laughter from Julian.
"Guilty as charged. Besides, what other reason would I have for accepting this invitation? But honestly, I’m glad to have other plans besides staying at home," replied Julian.
As soon as they walked into the room and chose their seats, the teachers began to greet them, especially Julian. Although some of them felt that there was no point in inviting Julian since he was not an official teacher at the school.
However, others felt that it wasn’t a big deal. One more person wouldn’t ruin the whole party, right?
Arcane then pulled out a chair for Julian and he sat down next to him.
Not long after, the principal arrived and opened the small party. They raised the drinks they had on the table and toasted each other.
"To the school’s 50th anniversary!" said Principal Donald Stamford.
"Cheers!"
They drank their drinks, but Julian wasn’t used to drinking too much alcohol. He took a small sip and immediately put his glass back on the table. It turned out that Kyle felt the same way.
It just so happened that they were sitting next to each other, making Julian aware of the man beside him. He saw Kyle, a white haired man with a calm face. Kyle turned and smiled at him.
"You’re not used to drinking much?" he asked.
"Yes, I’m not used to drinking alcohol." Julian nodded his head.
"You do look very young. My name is Kyle." He extended his hand, which Julian shook warmly.
For some reason, he felt there was something strange about Kyle’s smile. Although it looked gentle and friendly, he felt as if there was something hidden behind it.
They then sat back down and enjoyed the food on the round table. There was a lot of food on the table, and the table could be rotated to make it easier for people to reach the food on it.
From the moment he arrived, Julian’s eyes had been fixed on a delicious looking shrimp. It was a large shrimp and looked fresh.
However, every time he tried to reach for or take the shrimp, the table kept turning.
He had tried to stop the rotating table for a moment so he could grab the shrimp, but he kept failing.
’Damn, why is it so difficult? They have already started eating the food, but I haven’t been able to grab a single piece. I’m so hungry!’ he thought irritably.
Arcane, who was initially busy chatting with one of the teachers sitting next to her, realized that her husband was having trouble reaching the food.
"Is there anything you want? Just tell me, I’ll get it for you," he said.
"I want the shrimp over there! The table has been spinning since earlier, I can’t get the shrimp!" Julian whispered back.
The man looked at the plate of boiled shrimp, then spun the table to get it. When someone else tried to spin the table too, Arcane spun it harder so he could grab the shrimp.
He took four shrimp onto his plate and let the other person spin the table again. At first, Julian was confused. Why did Arcane take the shrimp for himself and not for him?
However, before he could protest, Arcane suddenly placed the shrimp on Julian’s plate. The shrimp had already been peeled and its head had been cut off by him.
While chatting with his coworkers again, his hands continued to peel the shrimp and place them on his husband’s plate.
’He peeled the shrimp for me?’ Julian paused for a moment, looking at the cleanly peeled shrimp on his plate.
He no longer needed to dirty his hands peeling the shrimp because Arcane had already done it for him.
His heart melted when he realized how spontaneously Arcane had done that for him. He even noticed that Arcane had taken his glass of alcohol and replaced it with water.
Julian paused for a moment before finally picking up the shrimp with his fork and starting to eat it.
’Give me a reason... How could I not fall in love with him?’
