Chapter 1351

Chapter 1351: Chapter 191: The Exorcist Who Walks in Hell
The fierce wind swept through the narrow gorge, raging day and night.
The Yong Demon carried Lu Li, crawling towards the upper reaches of the gorge.
Yuglas slept soundly, and amidst the eased wind and sand, they arrived at the Wailing Cave a few minutes faster than before. Lu Li and the Yong Demon traversed the suffused dim cavern, arriving at an unfamiliar other side.
"The brave one wants to know about Rift Valley Town? Let me think... The Town Mayor there is an Extinction Demon, but is nearly dead. Maybe they’ve switched Town Mayors now. That town is very poor, even poorer than us. Although Beauty Lake Town has declined after migration, its foundation is not something a barren countryside can compare with. They don’t understand the purpose of storage, I suspect they’d see a warehouse as a trophy exhibition room..."
The Yong Demon’s back carried Lu Li, who recalled Mayor Burb’s sarcastic disparagement. Considering this is hell, it’s indeed hard to expect a bunch of bizarre creatures born from flames and brimstone to know what order is.
It’s a blessing they’re even learning to build towns like demons.
According to Mayor Burb of Beauty Lake Town, Rift Valley Town is governed purely by demons, implying there’s no order, no rules, possibly even no "town," just various Hell Demons gathered into a nest.
The bad news is Lu Li might not receive commissions in Rift Valley Town, the good news is he can continue commissions from Beauty Lake Town.
Looking up at the sky shrouded in yellow sand and dust, shadows vaguely followed them overhead.
Lu Li guessed they were surviving Screaming Female Demons.
The Screaming Female Demons were unwilling to linger over Lu Li and the Yong Demon, eventually giving up and departing.
Lu Li retracts his gaze.
Hoping the departing Screaming Female Demons can bring surprise.
About an hour later, the end of the Rift Valley ahead became visible.
The Yong Demon’s speed was somewhat slow, but considering it was traveling against the wind and wasn’t truly a mount, and carrying Lu Li, it seemed acceptable.
As they moved away from the Rift Valley’s narrow entrance, the covered sand gradually disappeared, revealing a distant, crude fortress surrounded by a stone and dirt wall.
It’s hard to say whether Beauty Lake Town or Rift Valley Town resembles a real small town more—the former built along the rocky gorge wall, the latter has ancient town ruins-like walls.
Lu Li dismounted from the Yong Demon’s back, before entering Rift Valley Town, he took out a silver box.
With the Yong Demon’s pearl-like embedded fine eyes watching, Lu Li merely touched the silver box, and the damned delicious aroma became rich again.
"Can souls only be contained in silver boxes?"
"No..."
The Yong Demon controlled its instinctive greed.
But as Lu Li opened the second silver box and touched the Soul Orb, the suddenly rich tempting aroma enveloped it.
"What... what did you do..."
The Yong Demon swayed away from Lu Li like a slightly tipsy guest falling into a wine cellar.
"Absorbing souls."
Lu Li opened the third silver box and extended his left hand.
"Rift Valley Town’s demons might not resist wanting to eat you..." The retreating Yong Demon finally struggled to control its desire: "Did you target them?"
"Just a test."
The useless silver box was discarded by Lu Li: "If they are unwilling to trade, just turn them into a trade."
Perhaps it’s not very fair to Rift Valley Town; no demon can endure such a test, but this is unavoidable—the only towns truly governed by order can assuredly trade, such as Beauty Lake Town. The wise Mayor Burb almost predicted everything but still engaged in relatively fair trade.
Ultimately, after absorbing the 100 souls Mayor Burb paid in advance, Lu Li’s humanity level reached 31, something never seen before.
Lu Li couldn’t feel any changes within himself, but changes around him would inform him, such as growing plants, budding dead wood.
Sadly, here is hell, rivers flowing with magma, holes spewing Flame Pillars, suffused with toxic brimstone. Here is the end land of plants and springs.
The Yong Demon lingered outside Rift Valley Town, as Lu Li approached Rift Valley Town alone.
The fortress’s main body was lava rock formed by cooling magma, but they were quite crude, standing in the wilderness, the small town entrance didn’t even have a door, seemingly abandoned for long.
Yet Lu Li indeed saw figures wandering on the small town streets beyond the low wall.
Concealing oneself without Dreamwalker Lu Li is hard. Upon entering Rift Valley Town, he was instantly discovered by a demon beside an Inferior Demon chained up.
Its status was terrible, the decaying, skinny, scarred body was reaching towards the Inferior Demon, Lu Li’s aura almost awakened the last trace of energy within it, crawling and burrowing into a small alley.
Lu Li watched the stumbling pursuing low-level demon, even without using Cursed Title it couldn’t harm him.
"Are you very hungry?"
Lu Li’s inquiry was left unanswered, so he asked again: "Tell me where the tavern is."
The low-level demon finally halted and, with a mouth missing most teeth, uttered a sound: "Noisy..."
"Thank you."
A faint dim light silently flowed through the edges in the alley distant from the noise.
Seconds later, Lu Li emerged from the shadows, heading towards the noisy house audible from afar.
Creek—
The dilapidated door was pushed open from the outside.
Lu Li stood in front of the tavern, observing the hall: a few Magma Lamps flowed dim light, the dining table conspicuously had a mutilated still alive demon tied to it, other parts were in the customer’s claws, mouth, and stomach sac beside the dining table; a few demons engaged in primal wrestling in the corner—they interbreed and slaughter each other, around them were spectators holding cups and shouting; a plump female demon clad in leather whipped a screaming abused demon with a Thorn Whip.
There might be bias, but compared to Beauty Lake Town’s tavern, Rift Valley Town’s tavern certainly brimmed with oppression, chaos, and bloodthirst.
Originally bustling, the tavern gradually descended into eerie silence upon Lu Li’s appearance.
Lu Li stepped into the tavern, passing the demons along the way toward the counter.
The demons biting Inferior Demon flesh spat out gravel-like fragments, biting each other’s flesh while inserting into each other’s demon heads following their motions; the plump female demon licked her lips.
Entering the tavern, Lu Li was like a hot woman threading through a crowd of drunkards.
"Is there a meat grinder here?"
Standing at the counter, Lu Li broke the silence.
The waiter with a fake smile took out a round barrel.
"What’s the ratio?"
"Thirty percent."
Lu Li heard movement behind him and calmly said, "Thirty percent? Beauty Lake Town only charges ten percent."
"Thirty percent is yours." The waiter’s fake smile turned ferocious.
The tavern gradually became dark, oppressive, with only the magma lamp on the counter emitting light.
"Do you have any commissions here?" Lu Li asked again.
"What kind of commission?" The waiter’s claws reached under the counter.
Heavy and dull breathing surrounded Lu Li.
Sinister and frightening shadows approached from behind. Lu Li calmly replied: "The client issues a commission, the assignee fulfills the commission."
"Are you a hunter?"
Light from the Magma Lamps illuminated Lu Li and the waiter’s faces, in the shade beyond only layers upon layers of shrouded black shadows remained.
"No."
Lu Li gently shook his head, an extraordinary dreamscape quietly spread from behind.
"I’m an Exorcist."
