Chapter 1352

Chapter 1352: Chapter 192: Death of the Extinction Demon
Lu Li was not someone fond of fighting.
The swirling amalgamation tainted the tavern’s space, devouring the surrounding sinister shadows.
Mutilated bodies spewing scalding blood toppled, with roars, screams, and wails echoing through the tavern.
The counter and the grinning waiter before him were engulfed by a halo, while a filthy, grimy meat grinder appeared in Lu Li’s hands.
The distant demons roared and ravenously swarmed toward Lu Li, as if he were a lamb to the slaughter. But every demon that approached vanished as if into an abyss, leaving not even a trace of their broken bodies.
The times Lu Li struck were sparse and uneventful, mostly centered around the days before he became an investigator.
The demons’ blood and death aroused a frenzy deep within their veins, as crimson pupils brightened in the tavern hall.
Sharp whistling accompanied shadows striking the figure shrouded in dark moonlight, only for the Thorn Whip sweeping towards the halo to disappear; the injured demon flung its lover-cum-adversary at Lu Li, akin to a drowning person plunging into the sea; the chef, holding a cleaver and bone club, threw the bone club as if casting it into the depths of darkness.
Compared to direct combat, Lu Li preferred to defeat his enemies with wisdom and logic.
The demons were merely chaotic, impulsive, undisciplined, and irritable, not just merely instinct-driven inferior demons. Realizing they were coated with delicious poison, they began to retreat. As more corpses filled the tavern and the flowing demon blood coated the floor, they started to shiver.
But it was already too late.
A corpulent female demon charging towards the exit was pinned to the wall beside the door by a thorn spear shot from the halo; shattered corpses pummeled into the injured demon’s body like cannonballs, now they would never be apart; the chef had its neck broken by its own bone club;
Splat—Splat—
Lu Li tread over the sticky blood on the floor, stopping before the tavern’s last breathing demon.
This demon was unfortunate yet fortunate—it was unfortunate to be beside Lu Li when he released the cursed title, and the dream devoured half of its body, fortunate enough to be temporarily overlooked for falling down.
"Who are you...?"
The demon, with only half a brain left and spitting blood and chunks, stared unwillingly at Lu Li, this was definitely not a mere soul...
"Exorcist."
"No! You’re just prey! A filthy swine—"
Smack—
Lu Li crushed its skull underfoot.
He surveyed the tavern hall littered with corpses and severed limbs, while the dreamwalker slowly faded behind him.
Besides the crippled inferior demon still tied to the dining table, no hell creatures remained alive in the tavern.
Due to the need for a quick battle, Lu Li hadn’t used his left hand to harvest one by one, as he already possessed the soul-transforming meat grinder.
Placing the meat grinder temporarily on the counter, Lu Li walked into the chasm devoured by the dreamwalker, ransacking the counter and kitchen, basement, and deep bedroom.
The basement’s barrels of liquor and the varying quality of demon meat in the kitchen should fetch some souls, akin to the hall’s corpses, which Lu Li temporarily left in the tavern, taking only the meat grinder and roughly 760 souls he’d scavenged.
Treading through the blood sludge towards the exit, Lu Li paused slightly by the corpulent demon nailed to the wall.
The pitfall of being a dreamwalker was its limited range of merely a few meters in diameter. Anything further was beyond its reach. And this concept of launching objects like arrows or firearms was once inspired by Anna.
Returning to the streets, Lu Li faced the demons drawn by the allure of nearly 40 parts of humanity sensed nearby.
The Yong Demon was right.
The demons of Rift Valley Town would indeed attack Lu Li, essentially due to the absence of order. What ultimately made them retreat was not order, but Lu Li’s inherent power.
Surrendering to chaos had its merits—like easily accepting the fact that souls as weak as inferior demons were slaughtering them. If it were devils, they might curse Lu Li loudly or simply flee.
Lu Li grabbed a slow-moving, or petrified, demon unable to escape, asking it in its terror: "Tell me about the Mayor of Rift Valley Town."
Mayor Burb was known to Old Barto—he was replaced by his offspring, Young Barto, years ago.
In the literal sense, replaced, not only his mayoral status, but also the power of the Extinction Demon.
That must have been a bloody and cruel ritual.
When Old Barto was still around, Rift Valley Town’s style bordered on order and chaos. But after his offspring took office as mayor, Rift Valley Town began tilting towards the chaos of the demon camp.
"Where’s Barto now?"
"Colosseum...it must be there!"
Following the demon’s guidance, Lu Li arrived at the Colosseum—just a mansion encircled by audience seats and red rust iron cages hung with scraps of flesh.
Breaking into the Colosseum, Lu Li appeared as abruptly as a torch igniting in the Gloomy Forest, drawing the attention of all who resided within.
Inside the iron cage, low-level demons, long driven mad by the slaughter, no longer paid heed to their enemies, throwing themselves against the iron bars, howling at Lu Li.
In the colosseum teeming with chaos and madness, dozens of eyes turned to stare.
"Who are you?"
At that moment, Rift Valley Town Mayor Barto brushed off the female demon serving him, raising his head to gaze at the luscious soul at the entrance, his eyes glinting with greed and suspicion.
"Exorcist."
"Hahaha, did you all hear that, my people!" Barto and his citizens laughed uproariously, snarling savagely: "Seize this soul, the legs are yours!"
What transpired in the tavern unfolded once more in the colosseum.
A demon, hunched severely like a woodlouse, opened the iron cage, from which two blood-soaked low-level demons lunged at Lu Li like rabid dogs, only to be struck by two chairs flipped into spectral shadows, shattering their bones and tumbling back into the cage.
Like the toll of a battle bell, the demons in the colosseum surged toward Lu Li.
Barto reclined back into the seat clad in high-grade demon skin, allowing the female demon to resume her service.
Initially, he watched the fight, as if observing a new beast battle, no different from the previous slaughter, except it was from outside the iron cage—demons reveled in the sensation of shattering order.
Only when the demons approaching that soul vanished into the motley halos, never to reappear, and all their attacks proved ineffective against the soul, did Barto tear apart the female demon before him.
He wanted to do something, but it was already too late.
Corpses, regurgitated from the obscure and mysterious halo, indifferent to pressure, for even their bodies were trophies.
"What power is this? Who are you really..."
Chaos ebbed from Barto’s eyes, and he gazed intently at the still tantalizing soul.
"I told you, Exorcist."
Step by step, Lu Li advanced toward him.
Extinction Demons are advanced demons.
Perhaps Barto wasn’t as powerful as a giant Fire Demon, but as an advanced demon, they all harbored unique powers.
Yet before the cursed title, he was as powerless as facing a Devil Monarch or Demon Sovereign.
Barto’s corpse fell at his feet, its soul converted into humanity nourishing Lu Li.
Despite resolving the Rift Valley Town Mayor, there was now a piece of bad news.
Are there still demons in the town capable of fulfilling the commission?
