Genius’s Godlike Game Broadcast-Chapter 41 : Trying Out Gunner Ground (2)

Chapter 41

Trying Out Gunner Ground (2)
The player 'BeanBulletMan' was a skilled Gold Rank. Before every ranked game, he always warmed up with a regular match.
"Crack!"
"With skills like these, you think you can handle base?"
He snickered at the knocked-out player. 'Knocked out' in-game simply meant loss of control, not actual unconsciousness, so the opponent could hear him.
"Tsk, you should at least come geared up for looting."
He finished the downed opponent with a pistol and then switched to his sniper rifle.
"Now, let's see..."
He was in a three-story building within the military base. He had cleared out the other players inside and found a sniping spot.
'This round is going well.'
He had gotten a sniper rifle and even an 8x scope from the start. It was as if the game was pushing him to snipe—and that was his specialty.
He settled by the window and scanned the other buildings.
'By now, there should be people holding down each building.'
The initial firefight at the military base was long over. In other words, only the skilled had survived, the weak filtered out.
"Got one."
At that moment, a player appeared on the second floor of the opposite building. The enemy hadn't spotted him yet. He immediately held his breath and lined up his sights.
Just as he was about to squeeze the trigger—
'What the—?!'
With a bang, the player he had in his scope collapsed backward.
[PerfectPlay 》M4A1》 GGOnTop (HEAD SHOT!)]
The kill message popped up simultaneously.
'An M4?'
That was an assault rifle, not a sniper. So was the shooter in the same building?
He hurriedly adjusted his scope and scanned the window. At that moment, another player was peeking from a different building, capturing his line of sight.
'I'll take this guy out firs—'
He quickly tried to line up the shot. But then, he heard another gunshot and saw another death.
[PerfectPlay 》M4A1》 SprayAndPray (HEAD SHOT!)]
Another kill message appeared.
Seeing that, he instinctively dropped to the floor.
'Shit... What is this?'
Maybe the earlier victim hadn't been in the same building after all. So, where was the shooter?
His eyes darted to the HUD, which displayed directional cues. The direction of the last gunshot flashed red.
'Wait, that's...'
But something was off.
There was nothing in the direction indicated on the compass. To be precise, there was nothing but an open athletic field with very little cover.
Even a Gunner Ground newbie would know that concealment and cover are vital, so everyone avoided the field.
'A bug? No, that can't be.'
There was no way the system was wrong.
He took a short breath, grabbed his sniper rifle, and pressed up against the window. The moment he swung his scope toward the field—
"... What the?"
There was someone in his magnified scope. But the figure was already aiming the muzzle his way as if he'd been expecting him.
Another gunshot rang out. With a sharp crack, the scope shattered, and his vision went black.
[It happens. Sometimes, luck just isn't on your side.]
[PerfectPlay 》M4A1》 BeanBulletMan (HEAD SHOT!)]
The death message appeared above.
"No way! What the hell is that?!"
The player 'BeanBulletMan' could only spew curses.
* * *
Lee Gyeongbok glanced at the system messages with a faint smile.
― Wowwww lol crazy
― Sniping with an M4, seriously!
― Not even a 4x, but with a damn dot sight
― Back-to-back shots and kills, insane
― I can't believe what I'm seeing hahaha
― What did you see? Could you even see anything?
― Fr, godple shot so fast you couldn't react
― All that matters in this world are results!
― The"The"The"The"The"
― Na please stop with the repetition!
The viewers couldn't contain their amazement. This was on a different level from what they knew.
"I told you, it's fine."
Lee Gyeongbok responded nonchalantly, glancing at the chat.
― Going to the field is usually suicide hahaha
― Haha, that's only for weaklings!
― Fr lmao, all those people warning him went quiet real quick
― If Godple says it's fine, it is!
― Don't trust common sense, trust Godple!
-[Purplemen][Purplelelujah] (prayer emote)
There was a reason Lee Gyeongbok knowingly took such a risk.
"How long does it take to sweep each building one by one?"
If he went to the open area, enemies would show themselves, making it easier to pick them off.
― Nobody knew... Nobody thought it was possible!
― Haha, next time I'll just shut up and watch
― What kind of skill leaves all the backseat gamers speechless?
― Is this real genius...?
― Now that he's shown it directly, nothing left to say haha
― Please, don't try this at home.
― Wow lol, there should be a warning label on this stream
― No, but seriously, how do you do that?
While viewers playfully spammed the chat, Lee Gyeongbok's face grew serious. His sixth sense warned him that an enemy remained.
'Running away?'
But that uneasy sensation was fading. Lee Gyeongbok moved quickly.
The question marks in the chat coincided with the sound of an engine.
― Oh!
― He's escaping!
― Smart move, haha
― For real, you gotta run when you meet him
― Yeah, gotta survive no matter what
― Thought we'd get a full base wipe, too bad
The viewers expected the player to get away safely. He was in a vehicle, after all, and pretty far already.
Even for Purple, killing him seemed impossible.
'I can get him.'
But Lee Gyeongbok was the man who made the impossible possible.
Instantly, his focus zeroed in on the moving vehicle.
Every muscle cell from his shoulder, arms, waist, and stabilizing legs followed his will. His body became rock-solid, allowing perfect aim.
'If you wait to react, it's too late.'
His sixth sense spread out and delivered information—the wind's speed, the vehicle's acceleration and direction, and the time the bullet would take to arrive.
All that fused into a mental image. Almost as if there was a trace of the vehicle's future path.
Lee Gyeongbok instantly understood that was the spot where the bullet would meet the car.
'Here!'
Everything else was routine. Aim, then fire.
The whole process took less than three seconds.
― You're actually going to shoot that?
― But where is he aiming?
― Why's he aiming at empty air?
― Wow lol, he's actually going to do this?
― If it's Purple, he'll probably hit, haha
Most of chat was confused by his actions. Only a few realized what he was targeting.
With a gunshot, the bullet cut through the air.
[You have knocked down 'EscapeKing' with a headshot using your 'M4A1'!]
A system message appeared.
Apparently, the opponent had been wearing a helmet.
-???
― What? What is this?
― He actually hit?
― Wow haha, lead shot godlike
― Single shot lead? For real?
― That's legendary
― For a master craftsman, this is standard
― Isn't lead shot usually done with full-auto?
― Is this guy even human...?
Lead Shot.
A difficult technique, it meant predicting a moving enemy's action and firing ahead of them.
You had to calculate speed, direction, distance, and bullet travel time—only then did it work.
Even skilled players typically fired bursts to increase their hit odds when leading shots.
― What, ex-special forces or something?
― Yeah, did he train to take out northern boars or what?
-???: I'm here to end this war
― Single shot lead with a dot sight, insane lol
― Ugh, seriously living up to the username
― Purple newbies are finally seeing the light
― Haha, the level's just different
― Hyung? How did you do that!
― Thanks to Genome, we know Purple
As viewers got hyped, Lee Gyeongbok let out a soft breath. Maybe because there were no more enemies around.
His honed sixth sense swiftly settled down, as if returning to its right place.
He glanced at the chat window and frowned.
"How did I do it? Well... If you see it, you shoot."
He answered simply.
Lee Gyeongbok had no way to explain his feeling. Even if he tried, he instinctively knew the viewers wouldn't understand.
― Haha, already explained it but keeps getting asked.
― Don't see it with human eyes—see it with godly eyes.
― The answer is reincarnation.
― Haha, rerolling is the only solution!
― SSR's and normal characters aren't the same lol
― So this is that open-book test thing, right?
― For real, even if you know, you can't do it
― GasgASGAS! Maximum trolling detected!
Lee Gyeongbok smirked at the chat's reactions and approached the stopped car.
Opening the driver-side door, the knocked-down player flopped out.
"Whoa, this guy's had too much to drink."
― Lolololol
― The disrespect, wow
― His true colors show again!
― Fitting for a Black Company CEO, haha
― Purple/scandal
― Someone put this on the Plant Wiki!
Joking about the KO'd player being a drunk, he baited the crowd.
With a grin, Lee Gyeongbok reversed his pistol grip.
"Well, let's see you get home safe."
― Safe return (tank emote)
― At least use a bullet!
― Haha, not even worth a bullet
― Godple, I thought you were nicer but scary
― Look at those viewers distorting the story lol
Amused by the audience's chaos, Lee Gyeongbok finished the downed player. Just as he was about to get in the car, something on the fallen player's waist caught his attention.
"A smoke grenade? Oh, and you've got a frag too."
― No, you said you'd send him home!
― Sleight of hand, what is this?
― Why's sleight of hand in this game lol
― Viewers have lost it
Catching on, the viewers swarmed the chat, and Lee Gyeongbok shrugged.
"I never said my safe return service was free, did I?"
The chat burst out in a 'lol' spam. He casually grabbed the explosives and climbed into the vehicle.
"Got full attachments, plenty of bullets. I'll wrap up looting and go get more kills."
He smiled and floored the accelerator.
― Wow, godple's kill declaration!
― Why is he so scary?
― Murder smile (actually killing)
― Barbarian meta, let's go!
― This isn't just a barbarian. This is [Per][fect]Barbarian.
― Hurry! Go go go!
The vehicle headed straight for the military base exit, the bridge. With wrecked cars and trucks everywhere, he couldn't go too fast.
'Hmm?'
Halfway across the bridge, a subtle prickle tickled his nerves. Quickly, he scanned that direction.
Someone was definitely hiding.
"When the base gets crowded, someone's bound to be camping here in ambush."
Lee Gyeongbok threw out the comment, and the chat immediately responded.
― Yep, true
― Wasn't gonna backseat since I figured you knew haha
― Is the checkpoint meta still a thing?
― Still common in regular games
"Oh, so that's called checkpoint meta?"
He chuckled and slowed, stopping completely.
"Don't want to pay a toll, so let's prep a bit."
His next action sparked a flood of question marks in the chat.
― No way lol
― What's even happening?
― What's he plotting?
― Is this [Per][fect] meta?
― Haha, this is hilarious
― Is he some kind of broadcast genius?
― Kyuha! Kyuha! Kyuha!
But when they saw the result, everyone had a blast.
* * *
At the end of the bridge, behind an abandoned truck, a player was waiting.
'About time for a bite.'
'Checkpoint' play was pretty efficient. By targeting survivors from the popular military base, you could score solid loot.
You got the rewards without risking the base firefight.
But, anyone who survived the base was bound to be skilled; not without risk.
'Gotta finish them before they get out of the car.'
Still, the odds favored the ambusher—drivers couldn't react as fast.
Worst case, the player crossed the bridge on foot—but that was still even trade.
'Hmm? Here they come...!'
Just then, a vehicle noise sounded in the distance. He grabbed his assault rifle.
The car sound got closer. He steadied his breath and leveled his muzzle at the enemy.
"What the—?!"
He was stunned. A car was coming toward him, billowing with white smoke.
Totally unexpected, he froze for a beat but—
'Smoke grenade? Did they pop a smoke?'
He quickly pieced it together.
Given the car's speed, he wasn't actually driving but using momentum. The smoke grenade hid where he was sitting.
"What a joker."
He scoffed and pulled the trigger. Bullets pounded the driver's and passenger's seats in rapid succession.
Soon, a click—the magazine was empty.
'What the...?'
He quickly took cover and changed magazines. No knockout or kill messages appeared—so the enemy was still alive.
'No need to rush from my end.'
He listened intently, waiting for the smoke to clear. Finally, the smoke dispersed, revealing the inside of the vehicle.
"What the..."
But contrary to expectations, no one was in the front or rear seats. He immediately aimed his muzzle behind the car.
'Was the car a decoy?'
His shooting earlier had given away his position. Maybe they wanted him to waste his mag.
That meant the real threat was probably crossing the bridge. He rushed over to the stopped car.
Then he spotted something odd near the driver's seat.
'... M4?'
A fully kitted-out assault rifle lay on the ground. And at that very moment—
"I was wondering when you'd show."
With a clunk, the trunk popped open and a voice sounded. As he whirled, startled—
Bang!
A single shot sent him sprawling backward.
[PerfectPlay 》P1911》 LootGoneWrong (HEAD SHOT!)]
Lee Gyeongbok hopped out of the trunk and shook out his hands.
― Lol, totally fell for it
― Who'd think to hide in the trunk lol
― Incredible
― No one else would use a full-kit rifle like that!
― Who thinks to toss a smoke inside a car?
― This is Gunner Ground? What have I been playing...?
― The victim must be so salty
― Viewers, don't try this at home, okay?
― Yeah, sure, if you can trunk-jump headshot, go ahead
As his trap succeeded, the chat erupted in cheers. Lee Gyeongbok, seeing their delight, felt pretty good himself.
[Combat Zone is shrinking! Hurry up!]
Right then, a system message popped up. Lightning started flashing in the clear sky.
― Ohhhh, zone's activating
― Feels like it's a bit faster today?
― Godple wiped out the base lol
― Yeah, the rest must be totally shocked
The reduced survivor count had triggered the zone. Lee Gyeongbok quickly pulled up his hologram map.
"Hmm, bit of a trek. Guess I'll take the car..."
He checked the safe zone location and turned, but trailed off.
― Turned it into a beehive, eh?
― That thing's gonna blow up halfway there lmao
― Grand ventilated edition
― Even the car jokes are on point
― Going to be scrapheap material right off the lot
Since he'd used it for bait, the car was in bad condition. Laughing, Lee Gyeongbok just grabbed his assault rifle.
"Oh, there's a bike over there."
Luckily, the player camping the checkpoint had left his bike. Not as sturdy as a car, but much faster.
Lee Gyeongbok hopped on and grabbed the handlebars.
― Haha, looks cool
― Nothing manlier than this
― That macho smell
― It makes me wanna grab a sawed-off shotgun
― Or maybe an Uzi haha
― Yeah, when you're on a bike, shooting one-handed looks awesome
― Godple's a barbarian, so is this the Red Hare?
― Red Hare lololol
― LMAO, even has the blaze decal!
Responding to chat, Lee Gyeongbok shouted,
"Let's go! Hyah!"
At his signal, the bike's engine revved and sped up.
― Haha, he actually responded to the chat
― So sweet~
― Barbarian, let's ride!
― It's hunting time!
― I'll chase you down!
― Clay enthusiasts, infiltrating everywhere!
― Newbie (7 kills)
― Lmao, already at 7 kills
― How many more will die before it's over?
The viewers watched in excitement, full of anticipation.
After all, the new zone meant all the next prey would soon gather.
