Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator-Chapter 58: The All-Mouth Monster

Chapter 58

【Remaining Simulations: 8】
Lin Ye sat up from the bed, checked the time, and began contemplating his next move.
The shadow creature had been extremely fast—he hadn't even felt pain before being completely torn apart.
'Jim mentioned they were still receiving messages in the group chat ten minutes ago, meaning that's when the Captain encountered the shadow monster.'
'Should I wait until then to assist, or go investigate immediately?'
Lin Ye pushed open his cell door at the precise moment.
'No, the shadow monster is too powerful. Even with my help, we might not win. I should scout the situation first. If I can close the door the shadow monster uses to invade beforehand, I can eliminate this threat.'
Lin Ye first retrieved the pistol and magazines from the corpse. He needed to kill the first monster with the gun—otherwise, even attacking from behind, he couldn't penetrate its defenses.
Armed with the pistol, Lin Ye headed straight for the shadow monster's location this time.
Along the way, Lin Ye eliminated every many-mouthed monster he encountered, absorbing all the spiritual energy crystals they dropped.
Using the chaotic spiritual energy from the crystals, Lin Ye carved a Severing rune on his right hand and a Protection rune on his chest.
'Pity I haven't used the Speed and Power rune cards yet—otherwise I could try carving more runes on my body.'
Lin Ye had actually considered carving a Mutation rune to accelerate bodily changes, but abandoned the idea due to insufficient spiritual energy here.
'Knowledge truly is power—that saying doesn't lie.'
The closer he got to the detention area exit, the more many-mouthed monsters appeared, and Lin Ye grew increasingly proficient at killing them.
With little resistance, Lin Ye soon reached the detention area exit.
A many-mouthed monster with mouths covering its entire head stood in the center of the pathway. Behind it was an open door, with more monsters continuously emerging.
Lin Ye didn't use his skills immediately. If this All-Mouth Monster was the one that killed him before, using skills wouldn't instantly defeat it either—timing was crucial.
The All-Mouth Monster had noticed Lin Ye long ago, but seemed more concerned with the door behind it than food.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Lin Ye fired three shots at the monster's heart area.
A shadow flashed, deflecting the bullets, and appeared before Lin Ye in an instant.
Having seen this move before, Lin Ye was prepared. He'd readied his dodge before shooting, but still reacted too slowly. The shadow grazed his left shoulder—his fragile spiritual energy shield proved useless as flesh scattered, revealing bone.
The shadow was the monster's tongue. Seeing the mouths covering its entire head, Lin Ye shuddered.
Lin Ye immediately used Deadly Joke on the All-Mouth Monster. The timing wasn't ideal, but he had no choice.
Deadly Joke transported him beneath and behind the monster. The instant he appeared, the All-Mouth Monster detected him. Lin Ye thrust his right hand toward its heart.
His hand shattered completely. When spiritual energies collided, the weaker one would be utterly crushed by the violent force.
The pain didn't break Lin Ye's will—it sharpened his focus instead. He knew he couldn't kill this monster, but he hadn't failed yet.
Nothing could stop him before death claimed him.
Using Deadly Joke again, Lin Ye appeared behind a many-mouthed monster that had just exited the door. Ignoring what lay beyond, he swung his mangled right arm to force the door shut.
The All-Mouth Monster emitted layered, piercing shrieks as countless shadowy tongues erupted from its mouths like porcupine quills, stabbing indiscriminately in all directions.
Lin Ye used Deadly Joke four times consecutively to narrowly evade, while the many-mouthed monsters he'd targeted were all impaled and torn apart.
Ignoring the enraged All-Mouth Monster, Lin Ye continued using Deadly Joke to escape quickly. With the door closed now, the monster was far weaker than last time. If the Captain could handle it, this simulation should end soon.
Lin Ye burst through the door connecting to the office area—luckily, no anomalies triggered this time.
Soon, Lin Ye found the Captain leading overseers to seal another door. He was a young man with resolute features.
"Halt."
The Captain spoke sternly to Lin Ye.
"Alright, but I have intel to share."
Weakly, Lin Ye sat down. Massive blood loss had drained his strength—even without the order, he couldn't have gone much further.
"What intel?"
Seeing Lin Ye's condition, the Captain's tone softened slightly.
Lin Ye shared all information about the All-Mouth Monster. Though still suspicious, the Captain had the overseers treat Lin Ye's wounds.
"Thanks."
Lin Ye's gratitude was genuine—he didn't want to start another simulation now.
At minimum, he needed to assess the Captain's combat ability to plan his next moves.
Soon, the Captain led them into the detention area. The All-Mouth Monster was repeatedly opening and closing a cell door, trying to reopen its previous passage.
Without unnecessary commands, all overseers opened fire upon seeing the monster.
The organization's rank-and-file still used ballistic weapons—these couldn't pierce the All-Mouth Monster's hide, but left shallow wounds.
Shadowy tongues flashed, each impaling an overseer. Screams echoed continuously, yet no one retreated.
The Captain drew his longsword to intercept the tongues—only he could barely match their speed.
But he was merely strong by non-spiritual energy standards. While adequate against regular many-mouthed monsters, the All-Mouth Monster overwhelmed him.
Lin Ye could do nothing either—now lacking even one functional hand, he could only observe.
Soon, all overseers fell, leaving only the Captain in melee combat.
Clearly a close-quarters expert, the Captain held his own through anticipation, covered in wounds but avoiding fatal injuries.
Yet as time passed, the All-Mouth Monster gained the upper hand—the Captain was clearly faltering.
Just as Lin Ye pondered how to assist, the situation shifted abruptly.
Somehow, the Captain suddenly cleaved the All-Mouth Monster's body open. The monster retaliated with another full-area tongue barrage, piercing the Captain multiple times.
Lin Ye urgently used his skill to appear behind the Captain.
The Captain's body was torn apart, his longsword falling.
Lin Ye maneuvered through the bloody remains, caught the falling sword with his left elbow, and with a desperate twist, drove it into the monster's heart.
The All-Mouth Monster, now at death's door, tried to take Lin Ye with it. But Lin Ye spotted another many-mouthed monster approaching from behind.
He teleported behind it, then turned to flee—he lacked the means to fight now.
After just two steps, Lin Ye stopped abruptly. Now he understood why the many-mouthed monsters had been running.
The corridor before him had vanished, replaced by an endless, expanding red pool with no visible boundaries.
