Global Survival: I Got the D-Rank Personnel Simulator-Chapter 74: Ward 419

Chapter 74

"Please go ahead."
Lin Ye didn't refuse. He currently had no leads on solving this anomalous incident, and perhaps he could gain some inspiration from the director's task.
"I need you to go to the special ward area in the North Building behind the main building. Some particularly severe patients are confined there. The head nurse manages that area—go find her, and she'll tell you what to do."
The director then looked at Miles and continued:
"As for Mr. Miles, could I trouble you to wait in the director's office until Mr. Kevin returns? The special ward area has many dangerous patients, so it's better left to professionals."
Miles looked at Lin Ye, silently asking for his opinion.
"Fine, stay here and don't wander off. I'll go to the North Building and come right back."
Lin Ye had no intention of taking Miles to that clearly dangerous special ward area—it would be too troublesome.
"Excellent, I'll leave it to you then, Mr. Kevin."
The director said cheerfully.
After leaving the director's office, Lin Ye quickly descended the stairs. Although he'd temporarily rid himself of Miles—a walking time bomb—Miles had a stabilizing effect on this mental hospital. Without him around, the surroundings might become less safe.
So he needed to complete the director's task quickly and return to the office before Miles grew anxious.
Successfully exiting the main building, Lin Ye followed the corridor connecting to the North Building.
The North Building only had three floors but covered a larger area than the main building. The corridor led to a first-floor lobby, which connected to several inner hallways and a staircase to the second floor.
Lin Ye looked at the reception desk in the lobby's center. Though the lobby was empty, he could almost hear chaotic noises.
"So noisy..."
He hated hospitals.
"What noise?"
A crisp voice spoke up right behind Lin Ye—so close he could feel the moisture in her breath.
Turning around, he saw a young woman in a nurse's uniform standing behind him, her patient gown visible beneath the collar.
"Ms. Mia, the director sent me to find the head nurse."
Glancing at her name tag, Lin Ye spoke calmly.
"The director? Since when did we have a director?"
Mia asked with genuine confusion.
"Whether there's a director or not doesn't matter. Could you take me to the head nurse?"
Lin Ye remained unfazed. The director's existence was irrelevant—any information had value.
"Fine, I'll stop teasing. Follow me."
Mia twirled around and led Lin Ye toward the second-floor staircase.
Lin Ye followed cautiously, sensing his surroundings. He hadn't noticed anyone behind him until Mia spoke.
'Truly a "mental" hospital.'
Lin Ye suddenly thought of Little Ye. His spiritual energy control was still crude, but if Teacher Little Ye were here, she could probably handle this situation easily.
Mia brought Lin Ye to the third-floor nurse station—completely empty.
"Want to cooperate with me?"
Mia locked the door behind them and abruptly proposed.
"How?"
Lin Ye kept his response brief while mentally preparing for combat.
This wasn't cooperation—it was a threat.
Given their power disparity, Lin Ye would need to strike first.
"...Never mind. If you won't cooperate, go play with that old fool of a director."
Mia suddenly changed her mind, unlocking the door and motioning for Lin Ye to leave.
Apparently, this was her territory.
Exiting the nurse station, Lin Ye heard the door shut firmly behind him—as if sealing off two separate spaces.
An icy chill swept over him as he sprinted toward the staircase. The entire third floor seemed to radiate malice the moment he parted from Mia.
Rushing down to the second floor, Lin Ye tried descending further but found the stairs no longer led to the first-floor lobby.
Instead, they opened to an unfamiliar floor.
Doubling back, Lin Ye discovered the second floor had also transformed into an identical replica of the floor below.
The staircase now faced a nurse station flanked by circular corridors lined with prison-like individual wards.
After several futile attempts to escape the loop, Lin Ye realized:
'Only one option left.'
Checking the nurse station revealed no patient records for this floor.
No computers either—forcing Lin Ye to enter the circular hallway and approach the nearest Ward 401.
'So this is the fourth floor?'
Pushing open the door, he found no patient—just an empty bed with a transparent vase on the nightstand holding a pale blue flower.
An extraordinarily beautiful, fresh flower, as if still blooming.
Lin Ye knew little about flowers and doubted this place would grow any variety he recognized.
He had no intention of touching anything here—especially not living things.
Just as Lin Ye turned to leave, something felt off. Space itself seemed to fracture into overlapping layers.
Then he realized—he couldn't move.
Looking down, the distortion wasn't in the surroundings—but himself.
His entire body had blossomed like that flower.
Skin, bones, flesh, organs, eyes—every part petaled outward in bloody florets.
As Lin Ye looked down, the petals scattered completely.

Lin Ye returned to the prison transport. Though the death caused no pain, the disorientation and loss of control left him deeply unsettled.
Repeating the earlier steps, he reentered the North Building.
This time, Lin Ye didn't hesitate—heading straight for the first-floor corridors.
Mia's motives were unclear, and the upper floors were dangerous. The ground floor was his only option.
If this floor proved problematic too, he'd have no choice but to negotiate with Ms. Mia.
However, at the first-floor nurse station, Lin Ye smoothly encountered Head Nurse Isabella.
"Hello, the director sent me."
Isabella was a gentle woman in her thirties who looked nothing like a head nurse.
"I know why you're here, Mr. Kevin. But for your safety, you should leave immediately. Don't worry about Mr. Miles—the director will care for him."
Her tone was kind yet firm.
"I appreciate your concern, but this is my mission. I can't leave until it's done."
Lin Ye replied calmly.
Recognizing his resolve, Isabella relented—producing a stack of aged maps from her drawer.
"These are North Building floor plans marking your location. You'll need to follow the indicated route to Ward 419 and speak with its resident."
