Not only was the drastic change in the family unfamiliar to her, more importantly, the dragon father she relied on and cherished like a father also hung in the sky, turning into the sun.
Originally, it was a cause for celebration that her dragon father had become the supreme immortal sun, but the legendary mage in the form of a young girl soon understood the details of the Grand Abyss Expedition.
Any sensible and rational legendary mage, upon learning of such events, would first feel absurdity, then ridicule. The Material World had once again birthed madmen and fools who dreamt of invading the Abyss to prove their might.
Most mages would find joy in seeing unprecedented fools, but when such a fool turns out to be one's father, it's a completely different emotion.
Gwendolin's initial reaction upon understanding the situation was to dissuade, even knowing her dragon father had become the eternal immortal Dragon King, the Abyss is impossible to resolve.
However, when the legendary mage traveled across the land to learn about the dragon-man's views on the Abyss Expedition and their optimistic attitude, the girl gradually fell silent.
"To die in battle for His Majesty the Holy Dragon will be the greatest honor of my life, and my soul will gain eternal life in the Heroic Spirit Hall."
Surter replied without hesitation, his words brimming with fanaticism and devotion, indistinguishable from the most treasured zealots of the Divine.
Hearing such a response, Gwendolin fell completely silent, abandoning the idea of dissuasion. Although the expedition to the Abyss was a direct order from the Dragon King, by the time the orders reached today, with one army after another outfitting itself and returning from the outside world, even the Dragon King could not easily retract the command.
"You truly are a distinguished and loyal warrior, and I am proud that you guard my father."
Surter knew exactly how to handle a devotee with fervent faith. Indeed, after he said these words, the usually steel-hard Forbidden Army warrior seemed a bit embarrassed.
Praising her existence was no ordinary compliment; she was the daughter raised by the supreme Holy Dragon Emperor himself. In some respects, even the Emperor's own daughter could not compare with her.
"Your Highness flatters me; any Forbidden Army member—no, any warrior brother could do it."
"You will be the last dragon-man I meet before I see my father. You've left a very deep impression on me; can you tell me your name?"
"Surter."
"A very nice name. I will remember it."
"My honor, Your Highness!"
After emerging, she traveled across the Dragon Realm, which had become completely unfamiliar to her, finally returning to the equally unfamiliar city. The girl looked up to the sky dome, where beneath the sun, endless palaces floated.
This was the Holy Land in the hearts of all dragon-men, the Sun Palace, the eternal residence of Dragon King Noah's will. Stepping there meant meeting the supreme Dragon King, but although the Holy Palace could be seen from anywhere on earth, not everyone was entitled to set foot in it.
Clearly, as the daughter personally raised by the Holy Dragon, Gwendolin possessed such qualifications. However, when this legendary mage stepped into the Holy Palace, created by the finest resources drawn from hundreds of worlds, she found it filled with Warband Commanders and Dragon Lords from various worlds.
As the human-formed girl appeared among them, she naturally became the center of attention, but soon she noticed an existence particularly distinct among them.
"Father!"
From the Augustus family, with no trace of a Dragon Vein, yet ranked as the top War Marshal of all warbands, Tidel, this man, with Titan Bloodline flowing through him, yet also wielding the Power of Hell, exuded a presence as terrifying as a sea of abysses, tempered by centuries of warfare.
"Gwen!"
Having not smiled for an unknown length of time, Tidel couldn't help but display a genuine smile of joy the moment he saw his daughter before him. However, for lack of practice, his smile seemed rather awkward.
"What are you doing here?"
"Why have you come?"
The father and daughter almost asked similar yet slightly different questions at the same moment.
"Come, follow me. I'll take you to see Noah."
The girl dutifully followed her father into the most majestic palace in the Holy Palace. Although the sun hung directly overhead, even a legendary mage could not perceive the presence within.
Even though she now stood at the pinnacle of the Material Realm, there was an insurmountable primal gap between her and those eternal immortal existences.
"Dragon Dad!"
Upon seeing Noah again, Gwendolin could hardly believe her senses.
She beheld a not very large divine figure coiled on the throne, only a few times the size of an Ancient Golden Dragon, just over a hundred meters in length.
Yet what she felt was a vast and immense force far more terrifying than her father, although she clearly understood that this was merely the will of the Dragon King.
In other words, the power of the Dragon King's consciousness was just enough to be contained, but it did not represent the true power of the Dragon King, just as the sun above the Holy Temple was only a part.
According to the legends sung across the Dragon Realm, Holy Dragon Noah had evolved more than one world's sun, his rays illuminating ten worlds. He truly was the Savior Dragon King.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Can't recognize me?"
Seeing the long-unseen little daughter of the Augustus family, her eyes filled with awe, shock, and a dazed innocence, Noah couldn't help but laugh.
"Dragon Dad, how did you become the Dragon King?"
Feeling the unfathomable power of this Dragon Dad, Gwendolin asked a question others would surely consider taboo.
"Why? Do you want to learn?"
Noah teased, but in fact, as soon as the girl stood before him, he had already seen through her essence. She was no longer a flesh-and-blood life form but a high-level elemental body.
In the Dragon King's sight, the girl was a swirling nebula, with stars shining brilliantly, magnificently beautiful, and momentarily spectacular.
Because of this, Noah asked, seeing that this little daughter had the potential to ascend to epic status, as her true body already shared elements of an Epic Body.
Although it could not compare to a true Epic's undying body, possessing even a few properties allowed her to roam freely in the Material Plane.
"I do!"
"Alright, I'll teach you, but you'll have to wait until after the Abyss battle."
"Father, Dragon Dad, why do you want to fight the Abyss?"
As soon as the girl's words were out, Noah and Tidel exchanged smiles.
"Naturally, it's for your grandfather!"
Tidel actively explained to his daughter that the purpose of this Abyss Expedition was to help her grandfather become the Lord of Hell, lifting the threat looming over the Augustus family. Upon understanding this, Gwendolin's expression became firm.
"I want to be Commander too!"
"You can, but I don't have an extra army for you to command. If you want to join, first enter the Dragon Guards and follow me."
"Alright, when do we start?"
"Of course, right now!"
The powerful, resonant dragon roar resounded from the highest point of the sky dome, spreading through the Dragon Realm in an instant. A time-spanning power briefly connected the Dragon Realm with the Abyss.
Pungent sulfurous fumes from the Lower Planes and putrid blood scents drifted in along with the Abyss's greedy malice and spying.
