Chapter 309: Terror Twins Clocked In
Rynar and Rynor stood side by side, shoulders rolling as power kept surging around them.
Flame wrapped their arms and legs, while thunder snapped and cracked with every breath they took.
Rynor smirked and glanced at the demons. "Alright. You all wanted to see it, right?"
Rynar clenched his fists, knuckles popping. "Then open your eyes."
Both of them spoke at the same time.
"The Terror Twins."
The demons felt it immediately.
The pressure changed. The air felt heavier, sharper, like it was pressing against their skin.
One demon scoffed, though his voice shook. "So what? You’re still human."
Another laughed nervously. "Humans break. Meat is meat."
Rynor tilted his head. "You talk too much."
Rynar took a step forward. "Come. Attack."
The demons roared and rushed in together.
The first demon swung a massive claw at Rynar’s head.
Rynar didn’t dodge.
He stepped inside the swing, and thunder and flame exploded as he slammed his fist straight into the demon’s ribs.
The impact sounded like metal crashing together.
The demon’s eyes widened. "What the hell..."
Rynar grabbed its arm, twisted his hips, and dropped low.
In one smooth motion, he lifted and slammed the demon headfirst into the ground.
The ground cracked.
"Too slow," Rynar said calmly.
Another demon jumped from the side, teeth bared.
Rynor met it head-on.
He pivoted on one foot, thunder bursting under his heel, and snapped a flaming kick into the demon’s jaw.
The demon flew sideways, crashing into a rock and coughing black blood.
Rynor didn’t stop.
He stepped forward, leg glowing brighter, and drove a knee straight into the demon’s stomach.
Flame exploded outward, followed by a crack of thunder.
The demon folded instantly.
"Leg day every day," Rynor muttered.
Two more demons attacked together, one aiming high, one aiming low.
Rynar dropped his center of gravity.
He blocked the high strike with his forearm, thunder bursting on impact, then wrapped his arm around the demon’s neck.
Flames wrapped tightly as he squeezed and twisted.
The demon screamed.
Rynar spun and threw it straight into the second demon.
Both crashed into the ground in a tangled heap.
Rynor leapt over them.
His foot came down like a hammer, lightning and fire smashing into the ground between the two demons.
The blast sent both of them bouncing apart, bodies smoking.
The demons stumbled back, fear finally showing on their faces.
"How is this possible?" one shouted. "They’re fighting with their bodies!"
Rynar cracked his neck. "Yeah."
Rynor rolled his ankle once, thunder snapping. "That’s kind of our thing."
Another demon roared and activated its power, muscles swelling as dark energy twisted around it. "I’ll crush you!"
It charged straight at Rynor.
Rynor waited.
At the last second, he stepped aside and hooked his leg around the demon’s ankle. Thunder flared as he yanked hard.
The demon lost balance.
Rynor spun and slammed a flaming roundhouse kick into its head.
The demon hit the ground and didn’t move.
Rynar walked past Rynor, grabbed a demon by the face, and drove it knee-first into the ground.
Flame exploded outward as he followed up with a short punch straight down.
Silence followed.
The remaining demons backed away, breathing hard.
Clara watched from the side, arms crossed, eyes shining. "There we go. That’s better."
Rynor looked over his shoulder. "Told you we weren’t serious yet."
Rynar glanced at the trembling demons. "Still think humans can’t do anything?"
The demons staggered back, eyes wide and breaths uneven.
"What the hell is wrong with these humans?" one of them shouted, clutching its chest.
"They’re not supposed to be this strong!"
Another demon glanced behind them and pointed frantically.
"The demon gate is back there. Move! As long as we reach it, we can escape!"
They turned and ran, claws scraping against the ground.
Rynor laughed when he saw that. "Running already?"
Rynar cracked his knuckles, flame and thunder still rolling around his arms. "You really think we’ll let you leave?"
The demons pushed themselves harder, panic clear on their faces.
Then Clara stepped forward.
"Alright, boys," she said lightly. "You’ve had your fun."
The twins slowed and glanced back at her.
Rynor raised an eyebrow. "You sure?"
Clara smiled sweetly. "Very."
She took one step forward, then another. The air around her rippled.
The demons suddenly stopped.
"Huh?" one of them muttered. "Why can’t I move?"
Another demon tried to turn, only to realize the ground beneath its feet felt wrong.
The world around them twisted slightly, colors shifting in strange ways.
Clara tilted her head. "You really think illusion is just about confusing people?"
She lifted one hand.
The shadows around the demons stretched and bent.
The demon gate behind them looked closer, then farther, then suddenly vanished.
"No... that’s not possible!" A demon screamed. "The gate was right there!"
Clara walked closer, her footsteps quiet.
"Illusion doesn’t just fool the eyes," she said calmly. "It fools the senses. Direction. Distance. Even timing."
One demon swung wildly at empty air. Its claw passed straight through an image of Clara.
"Where are you?!" it roared.
Clara’s voice came from behind them. "Right here."
Thin, shimmering shapes formed in the air.
They looked like mirrors at first, then sharpened into cutting edges.
The demons finally understood.
"This isn’t just illusion!" one of them shouted. "It’s real!"
Clara smiled. "Of course it is."
The illusions closed in.
The demons screamed as the false space collapsed on them.
The ground felt solid one moment, then vanished the next.
Their bodies jerked as invisible pressure crushed and sliced at the same time.
From the side, Rynar whistled. "Yeah... remind me not to annoy her."
Rynor nodded quickly. "Already reminded."
A moment later, the illusions faded.
The demon gate stood silent in the distance.
The demons were all dead.
Their faces were frozen in fear, eyes wide, bodies still intact as if nothing had touched them.
No burns. No broken limbs. Just lifeless shells left exactly where they had fallen.
Clara brushed imaginary dust from her sleeve and turned back to the twins. "See? Illusions can kill."
Rynor grinned. "Alright. You win this one."
Rynar laughed. "For now."
Clara smiled wider. "Good. Because this place is only getting more dangerous."
she looked at the sky
She lifted her head and looked toward the sky, smirking.
