Chapter 310

Chapter 310: Spy Caught By Illusion Girl
High above the dark clouds, a lone figure rode silently on the back of a massive black crow.
The bird’s wings barely made a sound as it glided through the air.
Its rider stood calmly, hands folded behind his back, eyes fixed on the land below.
"So the demon gate finally connected," the man muttered.
His gaze swept across the battlefield. "Demons have appeared. That much is certain."
His eyes narrowed.
"But those demons... they were wiped out."
He leaned forward slightly, focusing harder. Below him were only a few figures.
"...Kids?" he said under his breath. "That makes no sense."
Demons were not weak. Even low-ranking ones should have torn ordinary cultivators apart.
Yet what he saw below were demon corpses scattered across the ground.
His fingers tightened.
"And if only the disciples are here..." he continued quietly, "...then their master must have already entered the demon gate."
His expression darkened. "Especially him."
The man stayed still, watching, weighing his options.
Then a voice cut through the air.
"Hey," Clara shouted, one hand raised. "Don’t you think it’s rude to spy on people from up there?"
The man froze.
His eyes snapped downward.
Below, Clara stood casually with one hand on her hip, looking straight at him.
"...What?" he muttered.
That’s impossible.
He was far above them. Hidden. Suppressing his aura completely.
How could she see him?
Clara smiled, tilting her head slightly. "You can come out now. No need to pretend."
The man frowned deeper.
"The moment I spread my illusion field earlier," Clara continued calmly, "I felt something strange above us. A pair of eyes that didn’t belong here."
The twins turned their heads sharply.
"What?" Rynar said, squinting at the sky. "I don’t see anyone."
Rynor shaded his eyes with his hand. "Yeah. Just clouds."
The guardian beasts also looked up.
Silvar narrowed his eyes slightly. Eldrin frowned in confusion. Even they felt nothing.
Clara shrugged. "That’s normal. You won’t see him."
She pointed upward. "But he’s there."
The man clicked his tongue softly.
"...Interesting," he said, no longer hiding the irritation in his voice.
The crow slowly flapped its wings, descending just enough for his silhouette to be seen against the clouds.
"So you sensed me through illusion," he said. "Not bad. For a human child."
Clara’s smile did not fade. "And you’re terrible at hiding intent."
The twins stiffened.
"...Wait," Rynor muttered. "There really is someone up there?"
Rynar cracked his neck. "So you’ve been watching us?"
Clara stepped forward, her smile gone.
Her eyes stayed locked on the figure riding the crow. "Yeah. That makes you really suspicious. Spying on us like that."
Behind them, the guardian beasts also shifted.
The man on the crow let out a small laugh and finally descended a little more, enough for everyone to see him clearly.
"I don’t need to explain who I am," he said calmly. "You only need to know one thing."
He pointed downward. "Leave. Now."
Rynor blinked once. Then he laughed.
"Leave?" he repeated. "And what if we don’t?"
Rynar grinned wide. "Yeah. What are you gonna do about it?"
The man’s lips curled into a smile. "Then I’ll kill you."
The twins burst out laughing at the same time.
"Kill us?" Rynor said, wiping imaginary tears from his eyes. "Wow. Big words."
Rynar shook his head. "The demons already tried. Didn’t go well for them."
Clara crossed her arms. "If you’re here to threaten us, at least try harder."
The man chuckled softly. "Confidence. I like that."
He jumped down from the crow, landing lightly on the ground.
As his boots touched the earth, he reached behind his back and pulled out two swords.
The blades gleamed faintly, humming with power.
"Let’s see if I can do it or not," he said, eyes cold. "Kids."
The twins rolled their shoulders again, sparks of thunder and heat flickering around them.
Rynor grinned. "Round two, baby."
Rynar laughed. "Hope you stretch first."
Clara sighed and took a step back. "Try not to die too fast. That’d be boring."
The man moved first.
He vanished from where he stood and rushed straight at the twins, swords flashing.
"Tch," Rynor clicked his tongue. "Fast."
Rynar grinned instead of backing away. "Good."
Both twins split apart at the same time.
Their feet slammed into the ground as they twisted away, thunder cracking under Rynor’s steps and flame bursting beneath Rynar’s heels.
The swords sliced through empty air.
The man did not slow down.
He turned sharply, chasing after them like a shadow that refused to shake off.
His feet barely touched the ground as he closed the distance again.
"So you can dodge," he said calmly. "Let’s see how long that lasts."
He swung both swords in a wide arc.
Rynor ducked low, electricity running over his shoulders.
The blade passed just above his head, close enough that he felt the pressure brush his hair.
"Hey," Rynor said, laughing. "That was rude."
Rynar stepped in from the side, fist burning bright.
The man twisted his wrist and blocked with the flat of his sword.
The impact sent heat bursting outward, but the man slid back only a step.
"Hm," he muttered. "Strong arms."
Rynar’s smile widened. "You haven’t seen anything yet."
The man suddenly disappeared again, reappearing behind Rynor.
One sword came down fast.
Rynor spun on his heel.
His leg whipped up, lightning exploding from his foot.
The kick smashed into the blade and forced it aside.
Clara watched from behind, eyes narrowing. "He’s testing them."
Eldrin nodded slowly. "Yes. He is not careless."
Rynar dropped low and lunged forward, grabbing the man’s wrist.
Flames wrapped around his arm as he tried to pull the man off balance.
The man laughed softly and twisted free. "Wrestling too?"
He slammed his knee toward Rynar’s chest.
Rynor rushed in instantly.
His elbow crashed into the man’s side, thunder bursting on impact.
The man slid back several steps this time, boots scraping the ground.
He looked at the twins again, eyes sharper than before.
"...Interesting," he said. "You’re not normal disciples."
Rynor cracked his neck. "Took you long enough."
Rynar clenched his fists, fire and thunder mixing around both twins at once.
Clara smirked. "Careful. If you push them more, they’ll really start enjoying this."
The man raised his swords again, smile slowly fading. "Then let’s stop playing."
The ground trembled slightly as all three gathered their strength.
