Capítulo 1937: Chapter 1937: Confidence Stems from Strength
The piercing alarm not only startled the surrounding residents, but also the group including Manager Dian who were indulging themselves. Instantly deducing that there was trouble at his factory, Manager Dian’s face turned pale as he hurriedly instructed a player to check the situation, while he followed another back.
By the time they returned, the factory players were already fighting the Resistance Army players. Several mutated Evolvers had been killed, and many workers were also dead or injured, but that wasn’t the most critical issue. The most critical was that the young men and women detained underground in the factory had escaped, and besides them, several cold boxes were scattered around.
Nearby Armed Flying Devices and Inspectors had received the news and were arriving, either before or after; however, it did not reverse Manager Dian’s collapse upon seeing the boxes casually discarded on the ground. He clutched his head and shouted, “Quick! Quick! Gather those boxes and send them out…”
Before he could finish, several flashes of blades sliced the boxes and everything inside into two halves!
Fresh human organs rolled out from the boxes.
“People of the Eastern District never see us Western District People as human. They established factories under the guise of toy processing, but in reality, they want to drain the healthy organs of us Western District People!” A masked resistance fighter stood atop the factory, pressing a disruptor to destroy all the flying devices above. Along with the sound of heavy objects falling, he scattered countless flyers, “Look at the prices on this; this is the factory’s revenue from selling Western District people’s organs!”
“We live in the worst places, eat the worst food, trampled into muddy ditches by Eastern District people, yet we become their tools for profit! Become their mobile organ banks!”
The masked resistance fighter pounded his chest, “Ask yourself, can you be sure that your missing siblings haven’t become empty shells? Can you say for certain that you, yourself, or your children can escape the poison of Eastern District people? Resistance is the only path!”
Just as he finished speaking, the masked resistance fighter was shot in the head from a distance by arriving Eastern District players. His body rolled off the roof.
Although they had destroyed a batch of flying devices, the Eastern District players were quick, controlling the situation even without the support of armed robots and inspectors. Several Resistance Army players sustained a bit before shouting “The will never extinguishes” and disappeared. However, a large explosion rocked within the factory immediately afterward; the sprawling factory building was flattened with the arriving support players affected, the flying devices and armed robots directly flipped, and the inspectors focused on sealing the perimeter didn’t fare well either, suffering significant casualties. Oddly, the ordinary people who escaped early were mostly unscathed.
However, the explosive impact inevitably destroyed many surrounding homes, leaving the already impoverished people without even a place to stay.
Unlike the anger of the Eastern District players and the hatred of the inspectors, the ordinary civilians wailed, momentarily unsure whether they hated the Resistance Army or the Eastern District people.
Xu Huo, being further from the factory, heard the explosion but was unaffected where he was, except that some of the flyers blown by the explosion’s aftermath drifted here.
He reached out and caught one.
The white paper listed nearly a hundred selling terms, different ages, genders, health conditions, various body parts, used for saving lives, experiments, collections, viewing…
Squeezing the paper into a ball and tossing it away, Xu Huo said to the mute girl, “Let’s go back.”
That night, the entire Supervision Department was uneasy because the supervision headquarters is set up in the Eastern District, and generally doesn’t dispatch players to the Western District unless necessary. Hence, the players arriving at the frozen processing factory incident were either from nearby factories or Eastern District players on shifts to the Western District, not many in number. If it weren’t for the factory incident, they wouldn’t have intervened, only to be surprised by the major event the Resistance Army pulled this time—getting caught abducting people and trafficking organs was nothing remarkable, but what shocked them more was how the Resistance Army uncovered these matters and dared to openly challenge the Eastern District?
So following the incident, all four branches near the factory were held accountable, and their captains were dragged out to be scolded. After the Eastern District players inspected the factory, the Supervision Department had to handle the aftermath.
The ordinary residences the Supervision Department didn’t care about, but the damage to the Eastern District’s factory was their responsibility.
Xu Huo was also called over to sweep the floor.
After meeting Lin Guang, he learned that Wang Kai was already dead.
It turned out that because of Captain Jiang’s death, Li Song privately applied to headquarters to verify Wang Kai’s identity. His credentials were recorded on file with no issues, but when Eastern District players came to the branch to question him individually, Wang Kai couldn’t hold back and acted rashly.
Acting rashly exposed his identity.
“Truly dead?” Xu Huo asked, somewhat disbelieving.
“I saw the corpse with my own eyes; how could it be fake?” Lin Guang shook his head, “What are these Outer Zone players after, anyway? Although I’m not a player, I know about some instance quests. Instances probably wouldn’t call for them to directly kill people, and what’s the point of killing ordinary people? If they have the skills, fight the players… No matter how you say it, it’s us who’re unfortunate in the end.”
“Yeah, look at this scene. Still not sure whether Outer Zone players were involved.”
Xu Huo hesitated briefly before speaking, “Can the Resistance Army trust Outer Zone players? Wouldn’t they use them as pawns?”
“Maybe they arranged conditions in advance?” Lin Guang shrugged.
“Stop rambling!” Someone nearby yelled at them.
Lin Guang quickly separated from Xu Huo.
Xu Huo, while working, kept thinking about Wang Kai’s assassination.
Wang Kai may not have been involved in Rank-B Copy, but if it was Rank-B Copy, it would demonstrate that the Eastern District’s control over the Western District is not as laissez-faire as it seems. Advanced players, even if they can’t escape the instance, wouldn’t have issues fleeing a supervision department branch. Considering the meticulous arrangement of Rank-B Copy players’ identities by the game, the Eastern District would similarly improve player setups accordingly, at least requiring positive results when deciding to probe or capture a player. But while interrogating Wang Kai, the Eastern District assigned only one player.
Confidence stems from strength, either the Eastern District has a surplus of skilled players where only one player is needed to distinguish Outer Zone players or the Eastern District has special means to control players. Props are generally hard to produce in bulk, which leaves Spatial Instrument.
Agor, being a tech company, possessing a sufficient quantity of Spatial Instruments to restrict players’ free actions isn’t surprising.
Xu Huo stopped moving, looked outside towards the Shadow Wall direction, where the soaring red light virtually occupied the entire vista, alluringly hazy under the night rain. Yet, is this wall really meant just to separate the Eastern and Western Districts?
