Mated To My Best Friend's Lycan Alpha Brothers-Chapter 314: "MOM~ ......?"

Chapter 314

Chapter 314: "MOM~ ......?"
(Author’s POV)
"Where are you?" Yelena texted, her face a shade of red as she was standing directly under the sun, her expression serious.
She had just gotten out after attending a two hour lecture, but during the entire class her mind remained preoccupied. She couldn’t concentrate at all. And as soon as she got out, she switched on her phone and saw Wendy’s message. She clicked it open but found that it wasn’t from Wendy but Myra. It read, "Hey, Yel. Just wanted to tell you that I and Wendy are going to the market area. So, I won’t be able to see you at the lakeside area."
This was followed by another one that said, "P.S.~ I will tell you the details when I return."
After finishing reading her text, Yelena thought it was the perfect opportunity to have a one on one talk with Fabian. The marks on Myra’s neck have been bothering her like hell. So, she wanted to confront him, wanting to know whether he crossed a line and if he did, she would beat the shit out of him.
But as she and Myra were always together, she thought this would be the right time to have a serious conversation with Fabian.
She gazed at her phone’s display and soon Fabian’s reply came, "I am at the office. Why do you ask? What’s up?"
"Come to the lakeside within five minutes. I need to talk with you," although it was just a text, the seriousness as well as the coldness were evident from it.
Fabian narrowed his eyes at the message. The tone was a little off, he could tell. He messaged back, "Did something happen, Yel?"
But Yelena didn’t give him any reply. This uncharacteristic behaviour from her told him that something serious must have happened, so he paused the briefing that was taking place and said, "Let’s take a lunch break, everyone," and then, without waiting, departed from the conference room.
Actually, truth be told, he was at the Crown Opulence and not on the campus premises. Yelena mistook it for the office Fabian has in the professor’s main building.
After getting out, while buttoning his suit jacket, he straightaway called Yelena. At first, she didn’t pick up his calls, but he kept dialling without relenting.
After much contemplation, Yelena calmed herself down, cleared her throat and answered, "Hello," though the crispness in her voice remained.
Fabian was glad she had finally answered as he spoke, his voice held an urgency, "Yel~ .... thank god, you finally picked up .... But why didn’t you answer my text or other calls? Tell me, what has happened?" He fired a series of questions. He couldn’t understand why Yelena had texted him to meet up inside the campus area. She, as well as Myra, never did that due to the rumours.
For a brief moment, there was silence on the other side. This made Fabian even more tense. As he uttered, "Yel~ ...... speak up. You are making me nervous as hell."
With a long, deep breath, Yelena finally spoke, her voice masked, detached, "You got my text, right. I am waiting by the lakeside. Come there and then we will have our talk."
"But I am not at the university. It will probably take me a while to get there. Can you please tell me what has happened? Please, Yelena," Fabian asked once again, his voice sounding small, insistent. Then, a sudden realization hit him as his steps halted midway. He hesitantly inquired, "Is it~ ...... is it about last night? Is the stuff you want to talk to me about~ ... related to~ ... Myra~?"
"Yes, it is," Yelena’s firm voice echoed from the other side.
Fabian’s eyes flickered and then dilated. He thought it was related to the incident that happened outside the hotel with Alaric. Thinking like that, he wasted not even a second and started sprinting down the hallway. Yelena was still on the call as he uttered, "I will be there soon."
The staff looked at him as he frantically ran toward the elevator. Their face held puzzled, bewildered expressions. Inside the elevator, he called Chris Shadow and instructed, "Postpone the briefing for tomorrow. I have an urgent business to attend to."
Chris answered, "Yes, young master." Then Fabian added, "Don’t tell this to grandfather. I will speak to him about this myself."
At this, Chris remained mute. He knew why Fabian had specifically mentioned that. After saying his piece, Fabian hung up on him. He went straight to basement three, the executive on the parking lot, where his Aston Martin Valour was parked.

"Yelena, why are you sitting alone? Why isn’t Myra with you? She didn’t even come to the morning run. Her phone is unreachable as well. Is something up with her?" Cassie Whispers asked when she saw Yelena sitting all alone on the bench. Usually, Yelena and Myra were tucked together with their hips. So, when she saw Yelena all alone, Cassie got curious.
Yelena, who had been waiting for Fabian for nearly forty five minutes now, looked up at Cassie and answered, "Myra has gone out with her sister today. And about the morning run, she just overslept. Her phone broke yesterday as well ..... Is there something you want to talk to her about?"
"Nahh~ ... I got a little worried and just want to check up on her," Cassie replied casually. As they were having a casual chat. Fabian came dashing towards them, his appearance dishevelled. He stood right in front of Yelena, all huffing and puffing. After all, he had covered a one and a half hour road in half the time, breaking quite a few signals.
Seeing him, Yelena’s eyes turned cold, and Cassie sensed it. Getting the hint, she stated, "I have a class to attend. See you next time." She didn’t even wait for Yelena to reply and just scurried away in the other direction.
Yelena glanced around and found that there were a lot of people who had their eyes on them. She didn’t want to approach the topic publicly, so she suggested, "Can we go somewhere private?"
Fabian got the cue and muttered, "Come with me."
He turned around and started walking as Yelena followed him in tow. They kept a polite distance from each other as they went away.

Outside the private room, Amy halted her steps and adjusted her expression to her usually bubbly one. But when she stepped inside the room, she was left dumbfounded by what she saw.
Myra was lying face down on the table, and she was all alone in the room. Amy scurried towards her. Her face was etched with raw concern. As she came closer to Myra, she called out to her, "Myra dear~ ...."
But Myra didn’t give any response. She remained still. This worried Amy even more. All her reasoning and observational skills flew out of the window. Her body started to shiver unconsciously. Her throat started to swell as she felt parched. Her nose was smarting as well.
With a slightly trembling voice, she called to Myra once again, her hands shaking as she reached out for her back, "My~ra ... My~ra?"
Feeling something on her back and hearing a familiar voice, Myra shifted a little in her seat but still didn’t respond.
This relaxed Amy’s anxiety a little. She sighed in relief, pulled a chair, settled in it and soothingly rubbed Myra’s back, "Myra~ ... it is time to wake up. Myra~"
Listening to the gentle and comforting voice, Myra opened her eyes slightly. As she was still in a dazed state, she couldn’t quite recognize the person sitting in front of her. But the affectionate voice of the person made her utter, "Mom~ ..." subconsciously.
Hearing her words, Amy froze. Her hand that was rubbing Myra’s back stiffened as her eyes went wide. In her trance state, Myra reached for Amy’s hand and started, "MOM~ ... I love you~ .... soooooo~ much. I~" But as soon as she grabbed Amy’s hand and tightened her grip, she realized something odd and unfamiliar.
The hand she was holding was silky, smooth and delicate in texture, which was unlike her mother’s. After doing household work as well as other tough jobs all her life, Myra was sure that Sandra’s hands were much harder than those of the person she was holding onto.
All of a sudden, Myra snapped out of her reverie and jolted awake from her seat, startling Amy. She then started apologizing profusely, "I~ ....I am so sorry, Mrs. Garcia. My mind was~ .... I was in a hazy state, so I mistook you~ ...... for my mother. I am really sorry if I have somehow offended you by my words." Her face was etched with guilt as she chewed her lips.
For a few seconds, Amy did not utter anything. Her face remained serious, deadpan, as if she were in some deep thought. Myra observed Amy’s expression and felt very nervous. With a hesitant tone, she then called out to Amy once again, "Mrs. Garcia~ ... Mrs. Garcia~?"
