Chapter 349: Mr. Everests, I Need A Favor To Ask
(Author’s POV)
"Young master, the authorities are saying that it is already dark. The search operation can’t go on like this and has to be postponed till tomorrow morning," Chris informed Fabian, his expression solemn, his voice full of exhaustion.
The search has been going on for hours, but there has been no news. As for the DNA testing, Fabian’s blood samples were already sent to the hospital and tested. None of the deceased turned out to be Jacob. It was a relief as well as a matter of anxiety.
With hollowed and gaunt eyes, Fabian’s attention was glued to the vast midnight blue hued waterbody. With a hoarse voice, he muttered, "Absolutely not. We haven’t even found him. The rescue operation will go on no matter what."
"But young mas~ ...," Chris was about to say something, but zipped his mouth when he noticed a royal looking Mercedez Benz’s Maybach with no number plate arriving at the scene. Seeing the person stepping out of the vehicle, he pressed his lips together and then told Fabian, his voice hushed, "Mr. Alaric Everests is here."
Hearing Alaric’s name, Fabian shifted his facial expression to a chilling one. He didn’t turn around but could hear Alaric’s approaching footsteps.
Chris stepped forward and greeted, his voice low, "Mr. Everests."
Alaric stood in front of him and asked, "Secretary Shadow, how are things going? Is there any news regarding Chairman Larson yet?"
Chris shook his head and mumbled, "Unfortunately, not yet."
Alaric narrowed his eyes a little, then questioned, "Did you find the cause behind the accident? Chairman Larson was going to come the day after tomorrow. So why did the plan get changed all of a sudden?"
Chris glanced at Fabian, who was radiating a cold, bloodcurdling aura. The truth was that after talking to Fabian on the phone, Jacob immediately asked his second assistant to schedule his private plane. He was worried about his grandson, that he might end up doing something either to himself or to one of the Everests, so he was ready to halt all his urgent business activities and return to Esteria.
The assistant repeatedly tried to tell him that it wasn’t a good idea, as such scheduling needs to be done beforehand and not impromptu, but Jacob’s commands had to be obeyed. In a rush, he followed the orders. But no one would expect something like this to happen, would they?
All this was told by the assistant himself, who, on Jacob’s orders, stayed behind.
"The overseas work was finished earlier than the expected time frame. As for the cause, we are waiting for an official confirmation, but the earlier signs indicate that there was an equipment malfunction," Chris conveyed.
Alaric nodded in understanding. He didn’t once look in Fabian’s direction, so he was unaware of how menacing and, at the same time, how forlorn he seemed. But Fabian was constantly side eyeing Alaric, the fury bubbling inside him with each passing second.
So far, he was self blaming and reproaching himself for the horrific plane crash. His mind kept replaying his last conversation with Jacob. How he yelled at him. He did not listen to his grandfather’s words and even disconnected the call midway. But when he saw Alaric’s face, he recalled the very reason he reacted in that manner. ’If not for him trying to insert himself into Myra’s life again, none of this would have happened. Filthy animal.’
The hatred he felt towards the werewolf kind, especially Alaric, only intensified.
Alaric felt a fierce stare on the back of his head and turned around. When he and Fabian locked eyes, the latter didn’t even flinch. But Alaric was a bit taken aback to see him in that state.
Chris sensed something and interrupted, "Uhh~ .... Prof. Stephens~ ... you have been of great help so far. Why don’t you go back now, hmm? I will update you on the matter."
At this point, Fabian wasn’t the least bit afraid of getting caught about his identity. He mumbled to Chris, "There is no need." He then raised his head slightly and asked Alaric, "Alaric Everests, what are you trying to do now?"
Alaric was puzzled as well as a little ticked off by the manner in which he said his name. He followed it up with a question, "What do you mean, Prof. Stephens? What did I do?"
"Myra~ .... What are you trying to do to her?" Fabian probed. His question blindsided Alaric completely. The familiarity with which he said Myra’s name irked him and Alex. His expression turned frosty as he said, his voice challenging, "And what exactly are you talking about?"
Fabian took a step forward, "You know exactly~ ... what I mean."
Although Chris didn’t understand what they were talking about, but by the energy they both were radiating, he had a sneaking suspicion that something wasn’t right between them. After spending so many years beside Jacob, he could instinctively tell that.
Getting into a conflict with Alaric at this time wasn’t ideal, plus he was aware of Fabian’s mental state, so he tried to intervene again. He then recalled a very important piece of information and said, "Mr. Everests, on behalf of Larson, I would like to ask you for a favor."
"What kind of favor, Secretary Shadow?" Alaric asked.
"I heard that werewolves have a great ability to track down someone. Actually, the thing is~ ... as the sun has already descended, the search operation has to pause. But that would mean losing a lot of time. So can you~ ...." Chris said.
Right now, the only person who could help them was Alaric Everests. Instead of locking horns with him, they needed to lock hands.
Alaric contemplated for a few seconds. Chris thought he was going to decline; his face dropped. After all, he was in no position to command an Lycan heir to help him. But after a brief moment, Alaric uttered, "I agree. I will help you find him."
Chris got a bit emotional hearing his reply. With a strained voice, he said, "Then I will trouble you."
Honestly, Alaric didn’t have much to think about this matter. Jacob’s disappearance wasn’t bad just for the Vampire Clan; it was bad for werewolves as well, or even worse. The deal he was here for would be jeopardized if something happened to the King of Vampires.
The situation back in Kimberg and in the neighbouring packs was very bleak, so he would do anything. Additionally, this will give his side the upper hand in negotiations.
Alaric readied himself as Chris showed him the way. Fabian didn’t say anything about this. His priority was to find Jacob and make sure he was safe.

"Yes, Wends~ ... did Elio contact you?" Yelena asked, her eyes remaining on the road ahead.
Wendy’s voice came from the Bluetooth speaker, "Yeah, he just called a minute ago and told me that Mr. Alaric wasn’t picking up his calls."
Yelena’s hands tightened on the steering wheel. She then muttered, "Okay, got it." Saying this, she disconnected the call. ’Shit~ .... I shouldn’t have taken a day off and been with Myra. Then nothing like this would have happened. What the fuck is happening today?’
She then tried calling Fabian once again. Fortunately, this time Fabian picked it up in just three rings. "Hello, who is this?" his voice came out weary and raspy. He didn’t look at the phone and just answered.
Yelena pursed her lips and, after a slight pause, started with a stammer, "Fabian~ .... I~ .... You~ .... Are you okay?"
He only hummed in response. His mind was preoccupied with chaotic thoughts. Yelena hesitated. She had originally thought of calling Fabian so that she could tell him about Myra’s situation, but this was probably not the best time. She then asked, "Are you still by the seaside?"
"Yeah," his voice came out in a whisper. She was about to ask for Alaric’s number, but before that, Chris called for Fabian. "Yelena, I will talk to you later," after saying this, he cut the call.
Yelena was in a bind. Now, she had to move to the last resort, thinking like this, she zapped in full speed towards the Crown Opulence.

(Myra’s POV)
I opened my eyes slightly to see a cathedral style wooden ceiling, illuminated by dim lights. The unfamiliar, strange place instantly made me wary. I looked around and found myself in an unknown space. "Where am I?"
There was no one in the seemingly luxurious room, which made me even more tense. I tried to remember what had happened, but a husky voice came from the door, "Myra~ .... You are up."
My eyes darted towards the source. Seeing who it was, I recalled everything and blurted, "Dion Everests?" My voice came out raspy as I felt my throat dry.
Dion approached me with a tray in his hand. He sat beside me and mumbled, "I have prepared chicken soup for you. It is my first time. Try it and tell me." He insisted, "Here~ .... You need to drink it while it’s warm."
I gave him a suspicious glare, "Where is this? Where did you take me to?"
