Miss Witch’s Devotion Has Gone… Twisted-Chapter 100: Return to the Capital

Chapter 100

Another week passed, and life returned to normal.
During this time, Luna had completely mastered the magic casting method taught by Loren, and Laila had also come into contact with magic for the first time.
Previously, she was just an ordinary adventurer, with a revolver being the strongest weapon she could get her hands on;
magic was too distant a concept for her.
Loren didn't emphasize that his method was only usable by witches, he just told Laila not to reveal it. Laila also understood how valuable this method was, so naturally, she wouldn't say a word.
Since coming here to be Loren's student, Luna hadn't returned home. Today, Luna planned to go back and take a look.
Coincidentally, Loren and the others also planned to go to the Royal Capital to see just how much it had recovered by now.
Loren didn't consider himself the culprit either. They made their own choices, so what did it have to do with him?
Given the current situation, getting to the Royal Capital was difficult, but what was hard for others wasn't necessarily hard for Loren. After notifying the Church, Loren obtained a special carriage escorted by Scarecrows.
This was already their second trip to the Royal Capital, and with Scarlett's portable space, the group didn't need to pack much.
The royal palace had long been razed to the ground, but accommodation wasn't a concern. Before leaving last time, Loren had given Luna's parents some more money to extend the rental of his room, extending it for a hundred years.
"This place is being rebuilt pretty quickly..."
Soon, the carriage entered the Royal Capital. Most of the buildings here had already been rebuilt, though there were many more treehouses now. Treehouses could be constructed using Abundant Magic.
As for key structures like the imperial palace, they were still under construction. The workers building the palace all wore smiles.
After such a major incident, the Nofica Theocracy had sent many people over. With these Nofica personnel overseeing things, the workers' wages weren't docked a single coin, they could still eat their fill, and life was getting better and better.
This also helped prevent the birth of new Blackened. Such an easy thing to solve, yet they only fixed it after getting beaten.
"Master Mentor, welcome your arrival. May the God of Bountiful Harvest bless you."
Every time he got out of the carriage, someone would come to greet him. Loren was long accustomed to it.
After being helped out of the carriage by a Scarecrow, Loren also drew the Sprout of New Life over his chest as a return gesture.
"Rebuilding after a disaster requires encouragement. That is why I have come."
Although Loren was actually here to drop off Luna and incidentally to have some fun, he still put on a high hat for himself, making himself appear more noble.
"The people of the Royal Capital will be grateful to you."
Loren couldn't see the face hidden beneath the Scarecrow's straw, so he simply assumed it was moved.
After getting off the carriage, Loren and the others headed straight for Luna's home. As the only one in the group with both parents alive and well, Luna had long been homesick.
The moment she saw her mother, Luna threw herself into her arms.
Looking at Luna's current appearance, her mother smiled.
Just from the material of Luna's clothes, one could tell they weren't cheap. After being away from home for so long, Luna's hair had become much smoother, and she had even gained some weight. During this time, Luna hadn't suffered any hardship at all.
Compared to life with Loren, it almost seemed like they had been mistreating Luna.
"Master Mentor, please come in."
After a brief reunion, Luna's mother led Loren to the room he had reserved.
The room was spotless, and the furniture had been replaced with better pieces. Luna's parents really knew how to handle things. Once they realized Luna had connected with Loren, they knew it was an opportunity.
Sure enough, after that, their business improved considerably. Security in the area had been strengthened. Even without mentioning these tangible benefits, just in casual conversations with others, Luna's mother's face had gained much prestige.
'Master Mentor's student'—this was a title even more impressive than being a student of the Nofica Magic Academy. Luna's mother could confidently say that anyone who didn't know how amazing her daughter was simply lacked insight.
Actually, thinking about it carefully, Luna's experience was quite legendary:
Your family runs an inn, you have a bit of money. When others can't eat their fill, you occasionally have snacks. Later, you get into the nation's most prestigious school based on your own talent, at a time when other ordinary people can't even afford ordinary schools.
Later, you get bullied at school. It's at this moment that a teacher, whose level is higher than that of a Tsinghua or Peking University professor, comes to your school, takes a liking to you, accepts you as a disciple, incidentally beats up those who bullied you, and suddenly, you soar to great heights.
One could only say that's how female-oriented power fantasy stories are.
After riding in the carriage for several hours, Loren and the others planned to rest at the inn for a while before going out.
"Master Mentor, is there anything good to eat here?"
Anna lay on the bed, her head hanging over the edge.
She thought of the meal they had at the imperial palace before;
that was the fullest she had ever eaten.
Especially since she hadn't eaten well during those few days in the Bardo Kingdom, she intended to make up for what she missed back then now.
"Probably not."
The previous disaster targeted the nobility. It didn't just destroy the nobles' homes, but also the places they usually frequented, including restaurants.
"That's so boring."
Upon hearing there was no good food, Anna's mood instantly plummeted.
"So what exactly happened here?"
The nobility was almost wiped out, the Royal Capital was half-destroyed. Everyone only knew the culprit was the "Black Moth Butterfly," but nothing else, not even its gender.
Laila was very curious about this, mainly because she had roughly guessed something. Doing something like this seemed very much like Loren's style.
"Oh, I just promoted the name of the God of Hatred here. Taking advantage of the chaos caused by those corrupted by the Outer Gods, I killed Eldrin, who was researching Crimson Magic, and the greedy King."
"It was really you?"
Although she had already suspected it, Laila couldn't help but be shocked when Loren admitted it.
"Holy shit, it really was you? Good brother, I already disliked them when I was here last time! To let commoners starve like this even within the God of Bountiful Harvest's territory, they deserved to die!"
Excited, Laila wrapped her arm around Loren's neck. Even under Naclis's murderous glare, Laila didn't react at all.
"Master Mentor..."
Luna, who had just pushed the door open, also saw this scene and swallowed back the words that were about to leave her lips.
"What did you want to say?"
Only when Loren asked did Luna snap back to reality, though her spirits had visibly dampened.
"There's a circus performance in the Royal Capital tonight. Do you want to go watch?"
Circus tents are relatively easy to set up. Compared to other performances, circuses are indeed much easier to put on.
And the people here also needed some activities to soothe their hearts, even though most people cheered the Blackened's attack.
"I'll go!"
Loren was a simple man. Compared to highbrow opera, he preferred the simple joy of a circus.
"I'm going too!"
Laila raised her other hand, the one not wrapped around Loren's neck.
