Miss Witch’s Devotion Has Gone… Twisted-Chapter 99: Lullaby

Chapter 99

"Ahahaha..."
The treasure given by the King of Bardo almost filled the storage room at home. Scarlett lay on top of it, letting out silly sounds.
"Can I have some of it?"
It took Scarlett a long time to notice Loren's gaze that looked at her like she was an idiot, but she didn't mind. Instead, she asked foolishly.
Loren crouched down and stroked Scarlett's hair:
"It's fine, take as much as you want. The treasure is yours, but you are mine."
Scarlett giggled, not realizing the problem, and continued to lie on the treasure.
It didn't matter to give her some. Scarlett represented Jealousy, not Greed. She stole things merely to survive. She hadn't even taken the thirty percent of the treasure Loren had previously promised her. All she really wanted was Loren's attention.
Actually, Scarlett could be considered as having few desires or demands. Having lived with Loren for so long, apart from being eager to find her own purpose, she hadn't asked for anything.
Even among all the witches, what she wanted was the least. In the game, Scarlett only stole a life at the moment of her death because she was jealous of others' lives.
As for the true Greed Witch, she would seize every opportunity to snatch the souls of others.
"Go to sleep when you're done playing. Good night."
By the time all the treasure had been moved here, it was already late at night, and everyone else had gone to sleep.
Loren yawned and walked out of the storeroom, only to immediately run into Anna, who was wearing bear-print pajamas.
"Master Mentor, can you sing me a lullaby?"
Anna grabbed Loren's hand and started swinging it.
"Alright."
Loren took the opportunity to pick Anna up and placed her on the bed in her room.
The decor here was full of childlike innocence, with pink as the main color scheme. The bedside was filled with stuffed animals, and the clothes rack held all sorts of cute outfits. After all, she was still just a little girl.
Anna tucked herself under the covers and looked at Loren expectantly.
Although Loren was a famous musician, his singing skills weren't actually that great. Moreover, Loren wasn't very good at composing music. The songs he usually released were mostly just re-lyricized versions, and many were purely instrumental because he couldn't find a singer.
It was only later that a singer from the God of Night and Thunder's side had some collaborations with Loren, and it was because of her that Loren started earning more money.
So Loren basically never sang. Only Anna seemed to particularly like his singing.
Loren sat by the bedside, gently patting Anna as he softly sang a lullaby:
"Long, long ago, there was a pack of white-eyed wolves,
"They called themselves Orthodox Gods, sitting high and mighty.
"They deceived the masses, yet gathered their faith,
"Slaughtering witches without a shred of humanity.
"Little Anna, listen well, your teacher has words to say,
"Sit patiently and listen to my song,
"Remember well, no matter what may come to pass,
"You must never forget their sins.
"They stole authority to ascend to heaven,
"The mortal world was then engulfed in madness.
"Your teacher laid plans for many years,
"Just for the day the night sky might bloom with starlight..."
Amidst the gentle singing, Anna closed her eyes, her breathing becoming even.
If this song got out, even Loren would be in trouble, but he only sang it privately for Anna.
This song was adapted from a theme song of "Fox Spirit Matchmaker," titled "Entrust." The original song sang of Dongfang Qinlan's words to her son, Dongfang Yuechu.
At the time, Anna wanted Loren to write a song for her too, so Loren chose this one, also as a way to help her recognize the true nature of this world.
After Anna fell asleep, Loren quietly tiptoed out of her bedroom, only to bump into Laila, who had been eavesdropping at the door.
"What are you doing here not sleeping?"
When Laila followed Loren back here, Loren had prepared a room for her. Logically, she should be sleeping now.
"Nothing."
Laila's five senses were very sharp. She must have heard the song Loren just sang. At this moment, Laila seemed very uncomfortable, constantly wrestling with whether or not to say certain things.
After hesitating for a long time, Laila finally decided to speak up and ask:
"Loren, the song you just sang..."
"Oh, you heard it. This song was written by me, not heard from somewhere else. It's all my true, inner thoughts."
Laila had considered that Loren might play dumb, that he might make excuses, but she never dared to imagine that Loren would admit it so readily.
"Then you..."
"Yes, I like witches. I hate the Orthodox Gods. I want to kill all the Orthodox Gods."
Loren dared to say these words, but Laila didn't even dare to listen. She thought she was the most rebellious, but compared to Loren, she was nothing.
The Master Mentor, respected by all churches, actually wanted to kill all the Orthodox Gods. If this got out, Laila estimated no one would believe it.
If there were spies within the church, and only Loren and the Pope remained in the church, even the Pope would suspect he had a split personality.
Originally, Laila had many questions in her heart, but after Loren said this, she couldn't ask anything anymore.
"You should go to sleep first. Early to bed, early to rise, so you have the energy to slay gods."
Loren yawned;
he really was a bit sleepy, having just gone to sing a lullaby to Anna.
"Wait!
"I have a magic spell that can mark you. That way, I can always find you in the future. It's just for marking, you know, no other meaning at all."
Laila stood in front of Loren, her hands resting on his shoulders, standing on her tiptoes.
Only she forgot the height difference between them was a bit large. The atmosphere became very awkward.
"..."
As the awkwardness grew, Laila simply leaped up, kissed Loren on the cheek, then scurried back to her own room.
Laila's behavior was also within Loren's expectations. The first time he learned of Laila's witch identity was when she proactively confessed her feelings.
It's just that she still had some reservations now, calling her Arcane Ability 'magic.'
"Sleep..."
As soon as Loren pushed open his bedroom door, he saw a long-unseen scene.
"Long time no see, Master~"
Mirrorheart was already lying on Loren's bed. She was still wearing high heels. Mirrorheart's finger slid from her own ankle all the way up to her thigh, finally pulling on the lace edge of her garter and giving it a flick.
The garter she wore was very tight, creating a strong sense of constriction against the skin.
"Since you're already here..."
Seeing this scene, Loren's drowsiness vanished completely. During these past few days in the Bardo Kingdom, Loren had been holding back, and by now, he couldn't hold back any longer.
"Next time, call Scarlett to join us. I don't think she'd mind. We could even make it a teaching session."
Mirrorheart calmly said these words, causing Loren's movements to pause for a moment.
Loren didn't reply, so Mirrorheart took it as his silent agreement.
Finally, the exhausted Loren simply slept together with Mirrorheart. When Loren woke up the next day, Mirrorheart had already tidied everything up, as if nothing had happened.
Mirrorheart had even changed the bedsheets while he was sleeping. By now, Mirrorheart had already prepared the meal.
Over in Bardo, Loren hadn't dared to eat anything. Now that he was finally back, it was time to have a proper meal.
However, during the meal, Mirrorheart kept whispering something to Scarlett. Loren had an ominous premonition.
