It had been a week since Loren arrived at the Royal Capital. During this week, he had basically produced nothing for the King, but all the things he needed for himself were already prepared.
First were the magical potions. With these potions, Loren could now directly confront Valentina head-on. Even if an Angel came, they would have to endure a couple of slaps from Loren.
Then, Loren's puppets were completely refined. Most of the materials that were inconvenient to request from the King had been prepared by Loren in advance himself. The remaining ones were successfully purchased by Mirrorheart after searching the black market for a few days.
Scarlett had been trying to escape these past few days, but every time she thought about stepping out the door, she turned back. Asking herself honestly, these days working for Loren were indeed the most comfortable days she had ever lived. Loren treated her genuinely well, and now when she called him "Master," there was even a hint of flattery in her tone.
"Time to eat."
Following Mirrorheart's call, both Anna and Scarlett rushed out of their rooms simultaneously, leaping directly from the second floor. Anna landed steadily, while Scarlett's glasses flew three meters away.
Anna stuck her tongue out at Scarlett and immediately sat at the dining table, starting to eat voraciously. By the time Scarlett fumbled her way to the table, Anna had already finished an entire plate of her favorite dish.
"You've worked hard. Are you sure you don't need any help?"
After taking his seat, Loren first expressed concern for Mirrorheart before picking up his chopsticks.
Mirrorheart was indeed very busy every day: cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, shopping... and occasionally helping Loren out...
During such times, Mirrorheart's self-healing ability also came in handy. Each time was like the first time. Yet, even knowing she had this ability, Mirrorheart had never crossed the bottom line during her previous self-amusement. Her loyalty had reached an obsessive level, determined to devote both body and soul entirely to Loren.
Although Loren now had two maids, Scarlett only ended up holding Mirrorheart back.
Tripping over flat ground was usually just a trope to highlight a character's cuteness in anime, but Scarlett genuinely tripped over her own feet, adding more work for Mirrorheart.
"No need. Being able to serve you is my honor."
Mirrorheart had remained consistent for decades, truly practicing what she preached without a single complaint.
Loren had considered finding her help before, but Mirrorheart had always refused.
As Naclis took her seat, the atmosphere became harmonious and joyful: a reliable father, a hardworking mother, a quiet older sister, and a cheerful younger sister—a perfect family configuration, except now there was also Scarlett.
Watching Scarlett eating heartily, Loren sighed. He didn't expect Scarlett to be of much use; at the very least, she could serve as Loren's portable storage space.
Many materials had been stuffed by Loren into Scarlett's Life Thief space for convenient transport later. Loren was practically eating and taking while helping the King brew potions.
Simultaneously, Loren had also stuffed massive amounts of food, water, and daily necessities into Scarlett's Life Thief space. This way, even if they truly had to wander someday, they wouldn't live too miserably. Loren was utilizing Scarlett's Arcane Ability to its fullest potential.
Loren didn't eat much, putting down his chopsticks after just a few bites. Although most people in this world used knives and forks, chopsticks weren't nonexistent, so Loren's habit of using them didn't make him particularly unusual.
Soon, only Anna remained eating at the table. It was at this moment that the doorbell rang at the entrance.
There was no need to guess—it was definitely someone from the King. But when Loren opened the door, he still froze for a moment.
Outside stood a white-bearded old man who looked very amiable, but the crown on his head still made him appear somewhat superior to Loren.
"Your Majesty, what brings you here?"
Loren hadn't expected the King to come in person, which made him wonder if he had been taking things too far. Next time, he wouldn't take ninety-five percent—ninety would suffice.
"Nothing much. School is about to start soon, so I came to check on the academy's situation and dropped by to see you while I was at it."
Although the King didn't explicitly state it, Loren understood his meaning. After asking Mirrorheart to fetch the potion from the bedroom, Loren began exchanging pleasantries with the King:
"Have you eaten yet? Mirrorheart's cooking is quite good. Would you like to try some?"
Just as Loren invited the King inside, he saw Anna carrying away all the remaining food, leaving only empty plates on the table.
Loren felt his fist suddenly clench, but the King didn't mind these things. He chatted casually with Loren, though Loren could still sense his underlying urgency. The King was very eager for Loren's magical potion.
After just a few sentences of conversation, Mirrorheart handed a bottle of magical potion to Loren, who promptly passed it to the King:
"The brewing difficulty of the seventh-grade magical potion Ember Radiance is too high. I've been failing repeatedly throughout this week. Ultimately, I could only find a way to improve the materials and created this potion instead.
"This is a fifth-grade magical potion. I've named it 'Recalling the Past.' You can give it a try."
Loren wasn't lying. To make the King willingly offer the Tear of Condensed Wishes, Loren was willing to pay some cost. Even after drinking the Brilliance Elixir, Loren still failed several times with this potion.
The King nodded. As soon as he opened the bottle, he smelled an unusual fragrance and immediately began swallowing saliva. He could feel his body urging him to drink this potion.
Mirrorheart placed a mirror in Loren's arms. Holding the mirror with one hand, Loren made a gesture of invitation to the King. The King no longer held back and drank the potion in one gulp.
Through the mirror, the King could see his skin rapidly becoming rosy, the wrinkles on his face decreasing, and his beard gradually turning black. Within seconds of drinking the potion, he felt decades younger.
Loren handed the mirror to the King. While the King admired his younger self, Loren began explaining the potion's effects in detail.
"This 'Recalling the Past' will return you to your prime years, but you will rapidly age over the next month, eventually returning to your original appearance. This way, your lifespan will be extended by at least one month.
"But Ember Radiance is different. Although it cannot return you to your prime, it grants you infinite vitality. Even if you don't visibly become younger, your physical functions will significantly improve.
"At that time, as long as your heart remains young, your lifespan will continuously extend, though there is an upper limit.
"I am confident that if I brew the potion, I can guarantee this upper limit to be at least twenty years. If everything goes smoothly, extending it by several hundred years isn't impossible.
"However, there is a drawback: Ember Radiance can only be used once in a person's lifetime."
Everything Loren said was true. There was no need for lies now. He clearly explained the advantages and disadvantages, proving that his "Master Mentor" title was truly well-deserved.
The King looked at his smooth hands. Now he felt filled with strength and ambition again. When he looked at Loren, his demeanor was completely different.
"Master Mentor, to be frank, although the Gedlan Kingdom isn't large, it possesses a powerfully effective secret treasure called [Tear of Condensed Wishes]."
