Miss Witch’s Devotion Has Gone… Twisted-Chapter 85: Inside the Spire

Chapter 85

"Those carrying sin who enter the Prison of Sin Spire are not safe..."
After casting the Shielding Spell, Loren carefully explained the rules of the Prison of Sin Spire to them. However, the contents inside were completely random. Loren had entered several times, and each time the interior was different. It was impossible to explain everything at once;
they could only go in and take it slowly.
"Luna has saved some nobles, Scarlett has stolen many things. You two cannot enter."
Perhaps these sins weren't much, but Loren couldn't let them take the risk.
Actually, Loren didn't even want Naclis and Anna to go in. But if they wanted to obtain the final item, Loren alone wasn't enough.
Moreover, opportunities for them to gain experience were few, and Loren didn't intend to let this chance slip.
In a short time, Loren armed everyone to the teeth. Even Naclis and Anna had a complete set of equipment.
"Everything is foolproof. Prepare to depart."
Loren didn't need to worry about Mirrorheart and the others. Loren took away less than one-fifth of the equipment, leaving them enough to blow this place sky-high.
As soon as Loren stepped out, he encountered many people trying to cozy up to him. Loren didn't waste words either, directly bypassing them and heading straight for the spire.
"Master Mentor, I am Helen Stern, captain of the enforcement team. I'll accompany you inside."
A woman in her thirties sidled up to Loren, her attitude extremely fawning.
"Not necessary."
Loren still paid her no mind, just tightening his grip on Anna's hand. The four of them held hands. Loren had instructed them beforehand that entering through the main gate would randomly place them inside the Prison of Sin Spire, but as long as they held hands, they could avoid this problem.
"Master Mentor..."
Brenda still wanted to say something when she saw Loren and the others vanish before her eyes.
Others who wanted to fawn over Loren saw this and immediately turned to leave. Taking a risk for such a thing wasn't worth it.
But Brenda gritted her teeth and followed into the Prison of Sin Spire. She had planned to enter anyway.
...
"Master Mentor, where is this?"
Anna only felt darkness before her eyes, and then they appeared in an unfamiliar place. It was very dim here. The surrounding walls were built from stone, bones, and blood-stained mud. Torches embedded in the walls were the only light source.
The torchlight was a ghostly green like will-o'-the-wisps, exuding an eerie feeling.
"We have already arrived inside the Prison of Sin Spire."
This place resembled a dungeon, and normal light sources weren't very effective here. Fortunately, the light sources here were just enough to let people see things.
"Stay close to me. The souls of sinners who die here are imprisoned forever within their corpses, eventually turning into monsters."
Loren, holding Anna's hand, continued forward, pulling out a submachine gun with his other hand to deal with any monsters that might appear at any moment.
After proceeding a certain distance, a fork in the road appeared. Loren directly took the left path.
"Do you know the route?"
Faced with Laila's question, Loren was very direct:
"I don't know. But if we always stick to the left path, we will definitely find the exit."
Since the internal structure was random each time, even Loren couldn't possibly memorize the route.
"..."
Although Loren's method was simple and crude, it was indeed feasible. They could only do this.
The group arrived at a place resembling a prison cell corridor. Cells lined both sides, pitch black inside, impossible to see anything.
"I was wrong... spare me..."
A pleading voice suddenly came from a cell, startling Naclis so much she directly hugged Loren.
The atmosphere here had been oppressive all along, constantly weighing on Naclis's nerves. The sudden speaking voice gave her an intense fright.
Her body pressed tightly against Loren, and Loren could feel her heartbeat.
"Don't be afraid. I'm here."
Loren held Naclis, stroking her hair.
"I'm scared too!"
Seeing this, Anna also directly hugged Loren, though it didn't affect Loren's gun-wielding hand.
"Aren't they a bit too timid?"
Laila stopped walking, examining the scene inside the cell. Through the dim light, Laila could see a figure inside chained up. It wasn't moving, as if the reflexive apology had exhausted its last bit of strength.
However, even as she said this, a trace of envy rose in Laila's heart. Raised by Loren, Naclis and Anna must live very happily, right? When scared, they could hide in their father's embrace. Not like herself, who had to raise a gun even when terrified, or else she would die.
Hearing Laila's comment, Naclis quickly distanced herself from Loren. She never wanted others to see her weak side, but when something really happened, she would still instinctively rely on Loren.
Having her sore spot pointed out, Naclis shot Laila a fierce glare. Anna stuck her tongue out at Laila, her face showing not a trace of fear.
"It's okay. Change slowly. It doesn't matter if you can't change. I'm here anyway."
"..."
Loren's words once again silenced Laila. She gripped the bars tightly, not letting Loren see her expression.
...
The group continued forward. This time, Loren's luck was good. From the first fork, he found the correct path to the next level, and they encountered no monsters or traps along the way.
The Prison of Sin Spire had seven levels total. There was a rather counter-intuitive thing. Combined with the name, logically these seven levels should correspond to the seven deadly sins: Gluttony, Envy, Greed, Sloth, Pride, Wrath, and Lust.
But in reality, the Prison of Sin Spire corresponded to Greed, Hatred, Delusion, Arrogance, and Doubt, plus two hidden rooms. This was something Loren only realized after clearing this place several times.
A point of light appeared ahead, exceptionally bright in the dim prison.
"Be careful. There will definitely be monsters at the place leading to the next level."
Hearing Loren's words, everyone prepared for battle.
They walked out of the corridor into a relatively large space. A large mouth stood guard at the staircase entrance.
That mouth was two meters wide with no lips. The gums were already rotten, but the yellowed fangs were still sharp.
"What is that thing?"
"A sinner who turned into a monster due to the sin of 'Greed.' That mouth is very hard;
attacks are basically ineffective. Aim for the body behind it;
the body is very small.
"But if possible, don't kill it directly."
"Okay."
The interior of the Prison of Sin Spire had a bit of a roguelike game feel. Loren used to like leveling up here.
Laila stepped in front of the group first. Sensing someone approaching, the large mouth stood up. Loren finally saw its legs, which looked quite comical in contrast to the huge mouth.
The large mouth wobbled as it charged towards Laila. Laila tentatively fired a few shots, causing no damage but successfully provoking the mouth's anger. It charged recklessly towards Laila, successfully exposing its back.
