Chapter 132

Chapter 132: Don’t hit each other!
"I feel so tired!" Sara said, removing her heels and jumping onto the bed. She lay down on the mattress on the support of her belly, taking deep, relaxed breaths.
"I have to make a call," Luca told her, and he went to the balcony to ensure privacy. He dialed Fabio’s number; Fabio had returned to Madrid and was currently in his car.
"Sir, I met Joseph personally. He will make sure Mrs. Montes goes back to Barcelona," Fabio ed.
"Great! Anything else that I should know?" Luca said, relieved by the news that Paulina would be out of Madrid.
"Joseph doesn’t know about Sara," Fabio replied. "Turns out Mrs. Montes never revealed the connection to him. Also, Joseph doesn’t seem to have a good relationship with her either, which makes him easier to influence," he added.
"I see. Thanks Fabio," Luca said and hung up on him. He returned to the room and saw Sara had fallen asleep. He shook his head and carefully tucked her inside the duvet. Removing the hair from her face, he planted a soft kiss on her temple and walked out of the room.
He dialed his father’s number, who answered the call shortly.
"Luca, where are you since the morning? Weren’t you supposed to rest?" Michael reprimanded him gently, keeping a light tone.
"Dad, I went to the office briefly. Now, Sara and I are in our home," Luca replied, skipping the details of the cafe confrontation.
"Okay. But what about your medicines? They are here at the house," Michael said, concern clear in his voice.
"Send them through a servant’s hands," Luca opined, not wanting to make a trip back.
"Hmm. Mathias was here earlier," Michael asserted.
"What did he say?" Luca asked, immediately leaning against the glass railing of the balcony, his relaxed posture gone.
"He wanted to see you. Your cousin is trying to bond with you. You should at least try to let them close," Michael advised gently, trying to mend the familial rift.
"Dad, do you have anything else important to say?" Luca asked, pointedly ignoring the advice on mending the relationship with his manipulative cousins.
"I’ve chosen the date for the party. It’s on Tuesday, next week," Michael replied, changing the subject. "It will be held at the main estate. You and Sara can invite your friends. Also, take care of yourself. I’ll send your medicines with someone’s hands right away."
The call disconnected shortly. Luca slid his phone into his pocket and went back inside, walking down to the living room. Sitting on the couch, he leaned his head back, looking up at the bright chandelier, contemplating the threats circling his family.
"Sir, what would you like to have in supper?" asked Jonathan, breaking the silence for him.
"Just a light one," Luca replied, his gaze still fixed upward on the chandelier.
Jonathan bowed and walked out of his sight.
"I didn’t propose to Sara like a gentleman," Luca murmured to himself, still lost in thought. "I should plan a surprise for her, maybe at the coming party organized by my dad." He checked his phone again, searching for some romantic themes that would go well with a proposal but couldn’t find anything that truly felt great.
"So, here you are!" Mathias’ voice suddenly reverberated loudly in the hall, making Luca instantly lift his head, his body tensing for confrontation.
"Who allowed you in?" Luca glared at him, his voice dangerously low.
"I took my uncle’s name," Mathias said dismissively, referring to Michael.
"Just leave, Mathias." Luca rose quickly to his feet, his massive frame instantly conveying a threat. "Don’t make me thrash you before kicking you out of this house."
"I dare you to do that," Mathias said, glaring back at him, clearly enjoying the confrontation. "I need to see Sara. Can’t you make me see her once?"
"She refused to see you," Luca stated sternly, standing his ground. "Whatever message you have for her, you can give me and leave."
Mathias remained silent for a long moment, glaring at Luca as if he genuinely didn’t wish to tell him the nature of his visit. He held the suspense for effect.
"Just tell Sara to see me tomorrow," Mathias finally commanded, pivoting on his heels as if expecting the issue was resolved.
"Mathias, you have a knack for infuriating me," Luca affirmed, taking a step forward. "You know that Sara won’t ever see you, given the fact she is my wife. Also, she is uncomfortable around you. Don’t make me lose my temper. Because you’re my cousin, I am sparing you once again."
Mathias licked his bottom lip, a flicker of true resentment in his eyes, and turned to look at him fully. "I was supposed to marry her. You approached her before me intentionally. If I hadn’t been on a business trip, she would have stood by my side today. You stole my chance."
"You never had a chance with her, Mathias," Luca said, stripping Mathias of his delusional hope.
Mathias clenched his fist, and dashed toward Luca, fueled by rage. The two men pulled each other’s collar, their faces inches apart, both ready to throw a powerful punch, when Sara’s loud voice cut through the tension from upstairs.
Both of them snapped their heads up, instantly distracted.
"Don’t hit each other!" Sara yelled down the stairs before running to descend quickly.
The men shoved each other away just as Sara finally appeared and ran to stand squarely in front of Luca, putting herself between them.
"What do you have to tell me that you came here? Also, you can’t raise your hand on Luca," Sara said, glaring at Mathias.
"Frida wants to date me," Mathias said, his focus now entirely fixed on Sara, ignoring Luca’s simmering rage.
"Why are you telling me that then?" Sara inquired, her brow furrowed in confusion by his strange proposition.
"She wants to destroy you," Mathias replied, "through me."
"So?" Sara pressed, genuinely baffled by the attempted blackmail.
"I won’t date her if you divorce Luca," Mathias stated, finally revealing his manipulative objective.
Luca immediately brushed past Sara, his patience snapping, but she caught his wrist, holding him back.
"Don’t stop me, Sara. He needs a beating," Luca remarked with fury.
"I won’t divorce Luca. I love him. And if you want to date Frida, you absolutely can. I don’t even understand why you have to tell me this," Sara pronounced firmly, meeting Mathias’s gaze without flinching.
