In the distance, a Felidaean girl ran with her hands over her ears, sobbing as she stumbled through bushes.
A flying sword swept past her cheek and sliced a lock of hair.
The human above her laughed. "She thinks she can hide."
Another voice answered, cheering like a spectator. "Don't break her."
The humans moved like trained hounds.
They forced the Felidaeans into open ground, then dropped ropes and collars from above.
Every time a Felidaean tried to resist, a rope tightened until they fainted. Kael leaned back on his flying sword, laughing as another scream cut off mid-run.
"Faster," he said, voice warm with cruelty. "If you want points, earn them."
Suddenly A shadow covered the forest.
It was a huge silhouette passing over the treetops, blocking the sunlight.
The humans looked up, their smiles froze.
A creature hovered above them.
A huge mutated wyvern with black scale.
The beast was massive.
The pressure around it made space tremble.
On to of it were humanoid creature, its body was wrapped in dark scales.
Its eyes were reptilian slits, cold and bright.
Two draconic horns curved out from its head, and scales covered its neck and arms.
Kael's grin faded, He narrowed his eyes. "What are dragons like you doing here?"
He quickly found out the other party background.
In the universe, only dragons acted this brazen in front of someone like him.
The draconic man let out an arrogant laugh. "I came to take what is mine."
His gaze swept over the humans below like they were insects. "You vermin took it without my permission."
Kael's frown. "This was negotiated with the Dragon Federation. This system and the surrounding routes are ours."
The draconic man chuckled again. "That's decision of Overlord Vorthain doesn't mean my father agrees."
He lifted his chin slightly. "This place should have been mine."
Kael's fingers tightened on the edge of his sword.
Before he could speak again, the wyvern under the draconic man's feet moved.
It opened its mouth.
A black-green wave rolled out.
The front line of human cultivators were slammed out of the air like they had been hit by a giant hand.
Their flying swords spun away, and bodies dropped through branches and crashed into the ground.
The Felidaeans below did not understand what was happening.
They only saw humans falling and use the opportunity to ran harder.
"General!" a soldier shouted.
Kael snapped his hand down. "Form up!"
Human swords shot back into position, surrounding him in a tight ring.
Talismans flashed, and protective light formed in layers around the squad like overlapping shields.
The wyvern hit the barrier.
Its wing snapped outward, and the air split.
The shockwave tore through the treetops and flattened a line of bushes, turning the forest into open ground.
Kael's barrier trembled.
His men gritted their teeth and poured qi into it.
Kael's eyes sharpened. "Active the dragon capture formation!"
Several cultivators plunged their blades downward and pinned them into the air like nails.
Lines of light connected between swords, forming a net to hold their formation together.
The wyvern crashed into the net and tore it apart.
A few humans were thrown off balance, their swords flipping under them.
One was swallowed by the wyvern's shadow, then flung away with a snap of its tail.
Kael's face darkened.
He drew a seal with two fingers and slammed it forward.
A spear of golden light shot out and pierced the wyvern's shoulder.
BAM!!!
The beast recoiled.
The draconic man on top laughed, amused. "Not bad."
Kael stared up at him. "Who are you?"
The draconic man's eyes narrowed in arrogance. "Prince Saryx Dravakar."
He spread one hand. "Remember it, human."
Kael's jaw tightened.
He knew that name.
A dragon prince that famous on doing whatever he wanted.
Saryx flicked a finger.
The sky behind him rippled.
One wyvern, then another, then dozens, than hundreds pushed through the air.
Their wings beat together, turning into a low thunder that made the forest shake.
Felidaeans screamed and scattered in every direction.
Some ran deeper into the trees. Some dove into ditches.
Some froze and crouched behind rocks.
The human cultivators looked up and went pale.
They come here to take care the felidaens not fighting dragon. They're not prepared.
Saryx smiled. "Go."
The wyverns dove.
They released clusters of compressed elemental energy that fell like a storm.
The first wave hit the human swords.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Cultivators were blown out of the air and slammed into trees, then dragged across the ground by the force.
Kael threw up three layers of defense in an instant.
The bombardment hit his shield and hammered it like a rain of meteors. The light around him flickered and cracked, each impact pushing him lower.
His soldiers tried to rise and counterattack.
They launched blades upward, forming a rotating wheel of swords that shoot toward the diving wyverns.
BAM!!!
Blood sprayed across leaves as a few wyverns were cut open mid-air and crashed into the forest.
But the numbers did not stop.
For every one that fell, two more replaced it.
The sky was filled with the creatures turning the whole place into night.
Saryx leaned forward slightly, watching them struggle.
His expression was calm, almost bored.
It was like someone watching pests fight in a jar.
Kael's eyes flashed.
He wanted to retreat, but retreat meant abandoning his mission.
If he stayed, the swarm would grind his men down piece by piece.
He could call backup but this will give him bad mark on his service record.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Another bombardment came down and cracked his outer shield again.
Kael dropped lower, landing in a half-crouch on his sword near the edge of the clearing.
He glanced at the chaos, then at Saryx above.
'What did this prince want? Is he just bored?'
Kael know the dragon prince were capable doing something like this, but he believe the Prince is not stupid.
There's something he after.
Despite his word the agreement has bean sealed between the dragon federation council and the human empire.
This mean majority of the dragon agreed.
'Is this some kind of inner conflict?'
